What happened to this channel? Did he stop living on his boat?
Naa still living it up out here, the videos Jst weren’t making any money and taking a lot of time to make
Update?
I swear I’m gonna get back on these videos one day lol, but I met a few friends and they all bought sailboats and were sailing to the keys for now
@@OffgridOceanLife Sounds awesome, End of January a buddy of mine and myself plan on leaving from Norfolk and doing a straight shot to San Juan. Should be about a 12 day passage. My hope is to film it and have a video up by the end of Feb.
i hope you are still living the dream. i am dreaming of getting a 34' yacht and live full time on it in the keys and bahamas. my main hurdle is figuring out how to make money while living full time in coastal waters outside of marinas. i'm gonna watch your videos and see if you figured out something.
lol I didn’t figure that out, best way is to have some passive income comming in. I tried the TH-cam videos but Jst wasn’t making enough to survive
@@OffgridOceanLife I think you have the potential to make a living off youtube. i would recommend that you keep uploading as much as you can. growth will be slow until one of your videos is promoted by the algorithm. then you can see huge growth in a short time. after that you are set.
I’m new to sailing too and man I watch channels every morning before I go to work and this morning I was scrolling through and watched a couple of your videos thought they were great man keep it up. I’ll keep watching and I’m gonna figure out how to switch to the patriots instead of the TH-cam here, but you’re doing exactly what I wanna do live the dreambought my first sailboat like a year ago been working on her about got ready for the water and I can’t wait till I get out there
Heyy I appreciate it man, hope ya like it out here as much as I do
Other than that, it’s Good You’re living the dream. Can’t wait till I Get out there
Need to release your head sale out more or buy a whisker pole hold the head sale out
Mr Foot ?
Do you have to pay to use the dock with your dingy?
wish you'd make some more vids
Thanks for the support, I’ll hope to be up and running again myself soon
Are you on Instagram?
Yeaa I’ve got one Jst haven’t posted in a few months
True, you do not need much out there, right up until you run out of food, or god forbid, Something major breaks on your boat, Trust me god cannot help with that, But money sure can, a lot of people sail on a shoestring budget, But nobody can survive without any budget! Hope for the best, of course, but prepare for the worst, and you will not go far wrong, Fair winds young man.
That guitar playing was deep!
Cheers !
Cheers from San Juan Island Washington. Im living on a Erickson 29. Get hot water on demand for dishes and showers, Camplux costs around $130. Ditch then two anchor setup. That will mess you up in a storm. Im running a Sarca Excel #3 with just 1/2 Rode, I never drag and don’t even use chain. Gland you and your mom had a great relationship. Better to love and loose and to never love at all. Stay positive. Life can be thrilling on a sailboat. Godspeed!
Heyy thanks for the comment, yeaa I need alot for the boat, unfortunately I’m broooke right now lol but I’ll get there
Fun fact. If you quit making videos, nobody will watch them.
Yeaa wasn’t making hardly any money off of them and believe it or not it was like a full time job putting those videos together, had to find something else to pay the bills but will go back to them when I’m back on my feet
Best way to get off the mtn dew is to simply leave without it ! Its a sht product and when you havent had 1 for 2 months you wont be able to drink one for all the shit in it. You dont have to eat "healthy" but ditching that shit is a great start. Remember to LOG EVERY DIVE and get signatures. There is a padi solo diver cert. That requires 100 logged signed dives. Though i have learned solo diving isnt as fun as youd guess cuz theres nobody to share it with when its over. Tho i do still drysuit solo. Drinking and sailing dont mix. First you think youre just gonna get a buzz then your tearing up your shit or worse someone elses. Finally. Lost my mom in 2021. Much love bro. Fair winds.
Jst got Off the mtn dew :)
Lol. Grats. They say its harder to quit than dope ..... or wait maybe thats cigarettes. Any ways, I got a gopro and a gopro gimble/charger combo you can have. Used em both in se asia few months and haven't used em since. Po box and I'd ship em off.
@@kevingumfory love the generosity man but I’ve got a GoPro, I Jst need to put it to use lol
Is that a Morgan 28?
Bristol 29.9, there’s a little boat tour on the second episode
good video
You got a wrong chord in Stairway!!
Lmao I’m sure there’s a few wrong, I Jst listen and try to copy
ALWAYS WEAR A SAFTY BELT WITH A ROPE TIED TO THE BOAT JUST IN CASE GOD FOR BID YOU'D FALL OVERBOARD!!!!
Yea definitely slacking on the safety aspect of all this
Pimp!! Gotta have a GPS!!! #1!!! Storms/ships!! PIRATES!!!
U mean ais? I have gps but I’m going broke out here lol
Brother I'm from Ohio too!! Wish ya the Best!! I'm terrified of Sharks!!! Fk that!! Ya need a piece to keep you safe!! Shoot those fkn Sharks too!!!
I'm from Ohio too!! Terrified of the Ocean!!!
I was to lol but it’s growing on me
WHAT 30 foot boat?? You people never tell us WHAT boat you're sailing in the header so we gotta figure it out the hard way! Your audio does not have nearly enough treble & too much base. Anyhow thanks to ericwest4069's comment below I see that your boat is an Alberg 30. Now I can look that up. ok it has a long keel.. Same as the Cape Dory but much better than a fin keel. At least the rudder and prop are protected! I see that your boat has an atomic gasser though (the Cape Dory comes with a 16hp Volvo diesel). Both boats are designed by Alberg. Tell you what you got a TOUGH boat there! And it looks brand damn new! Very similar specs to the Cape Dory 28. Good choice that boat can go anywhere but don't expect it to be a tight pointer. Wish I was in your tootsies but I got a HUGE problem.. you're 31 (if that) I'm 81. You gotta find someway to make a living but you could flip a lotta burgers in CA (but to get there you have a very long sail ahead of you!). BTW you need to be REAL careful regarding gas on any boat. And those AT4's only have 2 crank bearings so don't be pushing it anywhere near redline. They're also notorious for lousy economy and because they're gassers they don't have much power to move a boat.
It’s a Bristol 29.9. I do a walkthrough on the second episode.
Hi…we owned your boat for about 20 years, and still think of her often and miss her. Having seen the damage to boats in Gulfport, I am hoping you were nowhere near there when Debby came through!! Our best to you…hope you love her as much as we did! PS…those hatches were badly in need of repainting when we sold her!
Wow that’s awesome. Nice to meetchya! Did you just come across the channel or did u hear about it from Brian? I had it anchored in port charlotte for Debby, she came out clean. And yeaaa I love this freakin boat lol it got me out of trouble a few times
My husband had texted Brian wondering how she was, and he sent the link to your channel. So glad to be able to see and hear about her every now and then. Your boat is like your kids when they are grown…they might be out of sight but they are never out of mind, and any storm that comes along starts you worrying again. We were happy not to still be owners when Debby came along. I haven’t heard how the Gulfport Marina fared but many of the boats anchored off downtown had problems. 12 ended up ashore and others partially sunk…plus one of the long time live aboards did not make it. Sobering!! Anyway…hope you get her all fixed up soon and can get back out having fun!! I’m glad she’s sailing. She’s a terrific boat! Fair winds and following seas!
@@carolmcdaniel1210 yea it’s good to hear from ya. I met a couple people when I was in port charlotte/st Pete area and one of them grounded and destroyed there boat in Debby and the other had someone drag into him, I’m glad I got it out of there myself lol if you wanna go sailing when I’m around just let me know :)
Did this guy stop living on the boat?
@@OffgridOceanLifehey buddy did you stop doing the boat life?
Sorry about your loss. The boat looks great.
Appreciate it :)
You are amazing and inspiring. I found your video looking into boat living. I’m preparing to start a land journey with almost nothing. Writing music. Thanks for sharing your story!
Good luck :) hope you like it as much as I do
That island is full of rats! They are nasty at night.
What design is the vessel?
Bristol 29.9.i did a little walkthrough of it on episode #2 if you wanna check it out
Work is way over rated
As an anxiety prone “Type A” Gen X military veteran I completely understand the impatience. As a matter of fact my mantra has always been “If I wanted Patients I would’ve went to med school” That being said I do believe we naturally seek a counter balance to our native personality and sailing will provide the balance if you learn to let go and be present in the moments. I start each day by making my bunk, brewing coffee, listening to a Ryan Holiday “Daily Stoic” podcast then on to projects. Find what works for you and go with it 🤙🏼.
What design is the vessel?
It’s a Bristol 29.9 1978
Also my friend Terry Johnson used to own a house Big Pine Key
It’s a Bristol 29.9 1978
My friend Randy Meeks lives near Fort Lauderdale!
Nice I was there for a lil while
Like the guitar work Amigo!

We know why you call her Mary Jane.😉
Lmao I dunno what your talking about ;)
It’s been some months. When are you coming out with another video man? Looking forward to seeing it. Hope all is well.
Yeaa my bad I’ve had a lot going on,I really do need to get back at it though, thanks man
Living the dream, more power to you.
Yeaa I’m luvin it, thanks :)
just found ya.love it. btw, keep the vids real. dont over produce. old salys like the authenticity.
Thanks I need to get back on the videos here soon
great video !!! how long does it take to clean the bottom ?
Ehh depends on if it’s got barnacles or algae, usually Jst 15 minutes though
why are you pulling the crabs leg off thats awful
lol I take one off so they can still eat, they regrow and they taste great :)
@@OffgridOceanLife oh you eat that ?
@@juliaparks06 u crack me up lol yea the meat tastes sweet
i just found your videos and theyre great thanks for sharing !!!!! i`m wanting to buy a boat to live on too. do you worry about sharks being alone , i am terrified of sharks !!!! lol stay safe out there.
Doo it, you have my word that no sharks will bother you lol
what kind of keel? do you have a protected rudder?
It’s a fin keel with the skeg protecting the prop and rudder, actually just had the boot of the skeg break and the rudder was Jst being supported by the steering system
I did what you are doing 25 years ago…You certainly got the right boat for it. My first was a Bristol 24 and it was bomb proof and much more capable then I was and kept me safe😊 That said… you have plenty to do to be more comfortable and ready for Hurricane Season in Florida… I’d get yourself a Dodger or build a hard dodger asap…additionally I’d put a couple of milk crates that are lashed in near the bow where you could have 2 anchor set ups ready to go at all times😉 I’d also have one set up on your stern👍 Anchor and chain can be expensive so keep your eye out for powerboaters who give them away when they are not shiny enough…you’ll see😂😂😂 Also your anchor lines were wrapped and I’d try to avoid that… Inside your V berth I’d consider getting rid of the cushions and build a well ventilated closet up there and build yourself a nice and comfortable bed midship 😀 I guess that’s enough for now but best of luck to you😀👍👍
Great comment, going through some storms right now, really wishing I had that dodger lol thanks for the tips :)
Where you get money? aint none of that free! Trust baby?
Saved 50 grand, it got me a couple years of sailing but yea I did Jst run out that’s why I haven’t made a video in awhile, Jst trying to build it back up
Live life and be happy.
That’s the goal :)
How often do you have to clean the underneath of a sailboat?
Depends where I’m at, in the keys I don’t get barnacles so Jst have to scrape algae every month or so
Great videos!! Hope to see more soon!!
Thanks, yea I’ll be back at them here soon, had to take a little break to make some money
