My rule of Thumb; 1.First save with the team i support just for a few season learn the new game ect. 2. spend half the run of the game trying to decide on a long-term save. Works every time
The one thing I'd add is that after you've assigned whoever to take care of friendlies and arranged the games themselves, go to the Squad page, select Quick Pick -> Edit Pick Guidelines and set "Condition is at least Good" and "Match Sharpness is AT MOST Match Fit", then Set Guidellines Without Picking, and you should have your entire squad ready for the start of the season. I also find arranging reserve friendlies on Sundays (if mainly playing Saturdays) helps and manually making available those in need of a boost for the next U23 game only.
I play Gillingham. They have a transfer Embargo until January. It's real fun working with a squad of 15 (one of the best comes pre injured) with 4 or 5 players weighing you down like a big ol' anchor. Still mid table by Jan within 6 points of the playoffs. Keep up the good work fella's

Hey Z, here s a tip I m pretty sure you know, but I ve noticed you tend to forget about. When you manage a big euro club like let s say Lille for example, day 1 BEFORE u go staff searching, don't forget to go to the player search page and change the recruitment package to something that suits that team, like world tier. This includes the non playing people, so u re basically missing out on like 20-30% staff I think, given your average 220k database choice.

Something Zealand forgot: make sure your coaches training assignments is done in a way that makes sense. Optimize these training assignments ASAP, that's one of the first things I do.

Board Requests, Transfer Listed, End Contract, Director of Football, Buy/Sell Clauses, Shortlist update, Team Training, Individual Training, Happiness and Mentoring. 7. Staff shortlist and then sign new staff. 8. Sell, Loans, Buy, Extend contracts. 9. Scout assignments. Recruitment package, scouting filters. 10. Staff responsibilities updated because of new staff. 11. Intensive language courses, coaching courses. Adjust Playing time.

Increasing staffing if any is at max, increasing percentage of transfer budget retained and affiliates they will do sometimes even when new. And already couple of months in youth recruitment and junior coaching becomes possible often.

I've just started my first serious save at Swansea uni in the cymru south Division. So far I'm 15 games in with 2 losses (1 in the cup 1 in the league)
I took over Cruzeiro attempting to resurrect the once mightiest club in Brazil from the second division...A week into the save I'm hit with the news that repayments of the 125 mill state loan have began. FML

Only four teams in Brazil have won more Copa Libertadores' than them and only five teams have won more domestic titles. They have won the Copa Do Brasil more times than any other team.So yes, they are a pretty mighty club in Brazil.
Projection also does not factor in competition performance, STILL. They should really ad options where you can put in your finishes in certain competitions and that then adjusts the projected profit and loss.

I started with Freiburg because I know the team players very well myself. So I can make a tactic without even needing advice. It's just how I learn the game. Because fm mostly has it like real life. Also first transferwindow is off. I didn't loose a single match yet like Freiburg IRL until the Munich game that I have yet to play. And I kept Dortmund at 1-1 won against Wolfsburg 1-2 and now in the second round off the cup its against Gladbach allready damnit. But yeah it's just a learning save.
First thing I do is get rid of EVERY backroom staff and bring in the best that will come to my club ( if playing a top club ) a good few hours just looking

Actually I really enjoy setting my friendly matches personally and then looking at Google Maps and seeing where the teams we face come from. And scout these teams - their league, manager etc.
I'm playing my customary Feyenoord save again and my god they're awful this time out. They sold Berghuis to Ajax for almost nothing. All their strikers are gone. At least they still have Senesi and Toornstra. Also no money at all. They've never been rich, but damn. They're only in the Conference League in Europe so they don't get big paydays. I have literally no money. I can't even sign free transfers because there's always a tiny charge at the end (like 10-15k) and I can't even pay that. Literally my only hope is selling Senesi and Bijow for good money and hoping my academy delivers. And trying to sneak into the Champions League, of course. No hope of winning the league though, because Ajax just don't lose.
You don't need to rely on your academy, you need to focus on scouting for players with good potential who are free from contract, that way costs less money as you don't have to pay for a transfer fee. You should also consider loaning good talents from bigger teams.

Yeah if you need scouts or coaches better to look on first day or else you miss free agents and then are wasting money. Just think the compensation could go on wages instead or a loan.
Honestly you need to make a video titled wiring the world or at least make a play list with your scouting vids under wiring the world. Also seo optimise that cuz honestly your phrase is gold

When I restarted my Newcastle/NZ save today (starting the game in June, so this off-season), it already won Carabao Cup without me. This far exceeded expectations as it also got 8th. I thought I can set even loftier goals, but I can't.
You should ALWAYS manage friendly matches, your not an idiot and WANT to do that ;). You get much better match sharpness, morale and tactical familiarity that way. Also the ability and potential in the squad screen does not adjust to who you say gives squad reports it's always the AM. So you want to use the squad overview screen.
@@miraclemaker1418 Because the AI is not that great in prioritizing which players play and in what roles and positions and using your planned main tactic. When you have control you can make sure the players you want get game time and in the roles and positions you want. Increasing familiarity, sharpness and quicker links between players.
This year's game is pretty buggy. From my team captain being upset that he isn't the captain anymore, even though I never took his armband away, to the player's form box freezing on the screen after hovering over it and not being able to get rid of it unless I exit the save. I don't know how FM21 was, I haven't played it, but 22 doesn't seem to be well polished
3 months too late, but just start off by handing over every single responsibility to your assistant manager. Then, pick ONE thing (substitutions, scout, negotiations, tactics, team talks, press conferences - whatever, just one thing) and focus on handling only that thing. Once you start getting used to it, go to the responsibilities screen again and take control of ONE additional area. Get comfortable with that one, and then add another one etc. Eventually you'll have a good grasp of every area you're interested in.
As somebody who still plays FM08 religiously, this has actually been kinda eye-opening. I often really want to play the newer Football Managers but I just can't bring myself to do so. After watching this video, I have come to the conclusion that... I'm going to stick with FM08. I'm not ready for change!
If you want to do big money friendlies every other day, but you don't want your players injured, trialists can come in really handy. Sticks and stones may break my players' bones, but if I'm never gonna sign them, it won't hurt me.
First things I need to do because FM hasn't properly saved settings since FM15 is go into Preferences - screen flow - untick "go to news screen". Then go to match settings and dial in my favorite view. I mean seriously, why let me set these preferences from the main menu but then completely forget them the moment I press "start game"?
Ahh...But what about first day on Xbox one?...(which..like FM21 i am still finding too streamlined to feel emmersive :( ....Surely the consoles can handle full mode :( )
What... You don't manage friendlies.... Psyco... (I do, but I play it at the fastest possible speed, so I can get all the players I want to the best fitness before the first game. The rest, during the second half of preseason, then play U23s)
Ideally you want as many as your computer can reasonably handle in order to have enough players to choose from and increase the likelihood of getting good players depending on the level of the team you choose.
The first week of a save takes the same amount of time as 3 months of the regular season for me. So much to do. Love it.

You can't use your performance analyst as a scout unless when you give him a contract you give him a secondary job as that of a scout.

FM21 had some issues on release aswell. Not as many, though. But they usually fix these things rather quickly

Whenever I try to play fm22 and enter a new save I just instantly get overwhelmed by everything, any tips ppl I'd really like to play this game.
Just play and make mistakes that’s the only way how to learn the game properly. Don’t be afraid of failure and in doubt consult the assisting manager

Ideally you want as many as your computer can reasonably handle in order to have enough players to choose from and increase the likelihood of getting good players depending on the level of the team you choose.
