You can find the players in the "Players/Players in Range" with the Filter Add Condition/International/National Team/U19 or U21/U20 and sort by nationality, it's much easier than going to every national team.
Fantastic scouting method, simple but very effective. I tend to do lower league saves, so I wasn’t sure how much use this would be, but you covered that really well, as a lot of small clubs can afford £8k on a player if they’re worth it. Thanks for taking the time to make this, it’s going to be a big help!
Using this method, I found two players who ended up being genuinely world class for under $100k. A 16 year old Argentine attacking mid who made the U19 team while playing on a 2nd tier club. And a 17 year old French striker who was somehow selected for their U19 team while playing in the National (3rd tier)!

I've been doing similar things on fm 22 in my Portugal save, but never in such a big scale as you did in the video because i don't want my inbox flooded with hundreds of scouting stuff. Now thanks to you, i know that the report can be directed to the scouting center instead of the inbox. This is such a big improvement in my scouting QoL. I've been playing this game for almost 10 years and still learning something new😂

@@Picturesque.Hub_ you need to click the settings wheel or something from the scouting centre, then you can change which items go to your inbox as a single message and which items are collated into the Regular scouting update, you can also set how often you receive the scouting update. The scouting update is the one that you can change to list view.

Coming back after having watched this a week ago. I love this method and recommend this highly. I am a small-ish club in Iceland so a lot of the player won't even think about joining me but i'm sill getting a lot of good prospects and have signed several that will either be future first team players or net me good amount of money, and i'm not even that far into the scouting tasks, there's so much left. Once you take the 10-15 minute grueling task of starting the queue of scouting, it's pretty easy to whittle down the list to good prospects. Again, love this, highly recommend!
Currently in the middle of doing this right now for my Norwich save. Does take a little time but I can already see the benefits of it and its only 3 weeks in to scouting. Brilliant video
Thanks a lot for a great tips Matt. Ive been playing FM for 100 years, and until now I didnt know you can change what things are your scouts delivering to you. Absolutly hate when they send 100 Loan List notifications for random scouted players.
You need to go into continent-page or nation-page and then go to transfers, and then youth intake. Then you scout them one week. And you do this around the time of youth intakes around the world, typical january/march at least. This is by far the best way to get the biggest talents discovered early, and keeps you ahead of the pack. Require many scouts and scouting budget, but only way you want to get these 15-17 year olds signed early.
I think one thing that is forgotten is that depending on the team you are managing you don't have to to just look at the players with the highest potential. For playing with teams with less money sometimes getting a player or two that have ok to good potential, cost peanuts but can be sold for a good profit in a year or two can be a great way to boost finances and help with the growth of your club.
Oh for sure! I originally had a segment discussing this in the video but removed it for time, for smaller sides, even some of the average player could massively improve a team and will probably be a lot cheaper too!
With similar method I found 2 mexican midfielders, bought them for 600k each. One of them left after one and half season to Arsenal for 40M + 50% from next sale :)) btw, my bank balance was around 25-30M, so it was a huge deal
I don't really need the method per se because i play without masking, but the view for the U19s is amazing to immediatly spot talents without going 1 by 1. Thanks for that Matt!
I think the best part about this method is being able to look for cheap wonderkids from less famous countries and regions whose profile you will probably never click into with ordinary scouting.
Zealand did a similar thing using the u20 world cup squads in his current twitch save, very effective. I think scouts also work far better when players are actually playing games so the squads you know actually have fixtures that window may be more fruitful.

You can setup a seach filter in your player search and skip a lot of scrolling and save a lot of time: Age between 15 and 18 National team IS U19 OR U21/U20 OR Main Add nationalities if you want to go for certain nations
Could even go further and search for U17 in U19, U19 in U20/21 to exclude the older players in younger age groups that most likely are behind the curve.
@@fsdafdsafdas They are wrong, you definitely can't. In theory, you SHOULD be able to but for some reason it excludes players completely randomly. If I do it using the search filters then I miss a ton of players. For some reason it just doesn't work.

Wow. I might have to use this strat then. I’ve been doing a Celtic save for years and I just can’t seem to get the players to take me to the NEXT level. I can compete with any team on my day but too often the quality gap is just a little too much still. Wont stop the save until I win the UCL
I know I’m late to the party with this, but if your team doesn’t have the scouting budget for even UK&Ireland, never mind the world, am I right in thinking the closest you could get to this method would be manually looking at each player yourself. Obvs it would help with attribute masking off that way
I have this method where you can get scout reports everyday, and not wait 1 week. 1) On 'Scout Priorities' window and add 2 columns 'Days since scout reports created' and 'Knowledge Level'. 2) Make sure to scout players between 09:00am - 16:45pm. The scout reports will be ready at 17:00. You'll not receive an email but if you check your 'Scout Priorities' window you'll see the 'Days since scout reports created' is 0 and 'Knowledge Level' has increased by roughly 20%. 3) Cancel those that got updated. Advance to next day, then scout them again between 09:00am to 16:45pm. Rinse repeat.

Oh so this is just FM 2022, well do yourself a favor and check out the recommended players, if there are any, in the team dynamic section since those will for sure fit in with the team most likely and is the best recommended players i assume just like that. I have been playing this series on and off since the start so maybe the tip is worth something, and i do agree with the clips suggestions.
1:32 following this and changed it all to end up in the scouting centre. However, when I do the next step i.e. Advanced > turn off 'started scouting player' this changes the recruitment team to 'mixed delivery'. If I then change that back again to scouting centre, the 'started scouting player' bit is reset. Is that normal?
Hope someone can help me here how do you get the binoculars graphs next to the A A+ B and so on? You can see it at 12:31 I cam see too add the knowledge button but that comes up as reasonable extensive.
Great Idea! Definitely time consuming going through all the nations. Wonder if it would be better to use the player search with the following: Age: 15-18 Youth Apps: At Least 1 or International Caps: At Least 1 Would save some time going through the nations although a small scouting network would struggle to cope with the workload.
It would potentially get a list of players, but it would exclude any that have yet to earn those caps, but also the max you can scout is 50 at a time anyway, so while it might speed things up a bit, you could miss more players
@@Secondyellowcard Interestingly something I just noticed. Although I got the notification that I couldn't scout more than 50 at a time when selecting the entire list of 600, I was actually able to scout about 200 at a time...maybe a fluke but worth looking into.
My word this is a genius way to do it. I check it every month and scout any new players who have no rating yet. Normally get at least 30-50 new players every couple of months needing to be scouted.
@@Secondyellowcard even with 50 at a time, it's not hard to select 50, scout. See where you highlight finished then select the name and go to the next 50. Should be able to get up to 500 there with about 20 clicks not adjusting for the times it tells you you selected too many and you need to unselect one by one to reduce it to 50. But you'll learn the approximation for that pretty quickly. Maybe take you about 4 minutes to do.
Hey man. Very interesting video and keen to give it a go. I do wonder though: what do you do with the scouts? Does that mean you better not assign them to regions/countries and give them no assignments so they're free to scout your picks?
This is brilliant. Started an Atlanta save and went into the second season with almost an entire new starting XI.. I'm not usually competitive for a few seasons because I like young players / regens, this found players that are real life regens. :D I scout the national squads during the first international break, and then do it again during the second break just to see if any new players have been called up, you'll find a few more doing this.
I fast-forward the list-making phase of this method by using the in-game editor (strictly for this purpose). I turn on 'Show all players in list' and filter to players in any national team.

I have a problem with this method. There is no Report in my mailbox. Ever. Some players appear in Scouting Centre, but the number does not match what I ordered my scouts to check. Can anyone help?
I'm following this method, and sorting by potential and age, then highlight a list of players to scout for a week. But I don't have a scout option when I right click. It only tells me how many players from the list I've highlighted. What am I doing wrong?
You might not have the recruitment package available to scout all the players. Try and move some money to your scouting budget and change to world knowledge for a bit if you are able to do so.
I found a regen name whiteman I bought for 500k for my Liverpool save and he is a world beater he banged in 45 goals in is first season for me. And at the end of the is world 85 to 90 million pounds I also won champions league and he banged in 3 goals past real Madrid in the final. And now every club wants him psg offered me 200mil for him but I rejected and I only paid 500k for him I so love this forward is full name is james whiteman is a demon of a forward. I thought nothing of him at first but I gived him a chance and I'm glad I did just that I would never sell him even knowing every one wants him he also won awards to and is only 18 years of age
I love this video. One question for you. Alot of these youngsters come in at around the 2 star level. Not good enough for first team. But maybe too young too loan out...are these kind of players good ideas for youth teams or just too good for that and get them loaned out
It depends on your plans, so on my save i'm trying to build up the other teams in my league, so i loan them out as soon as i can, if they are too young they stay in the youth teams. A lot of times with players like this, teams will request a loan back as part of the deal so that might be a good solution in the mean time. Usually they won't suffer too much in your youth team until they are of loanable age :)

Wouldn't my scouts stop doing all other assignments given to them, throughout the year? And how do I manage that my nation youth scouting updates won't get completely clustered with my regular scouting? Since mass discarding and 1 week scouting wouldn't be as efficient I assume? As for the shortlist: in what way do you use that? Since you are looking at your priority list mostly.
I've not found that the other scout assignments get in the way too much, however you would have to be more diligent when it comes to discarding as players from other reports could get lost in there. I use the shortlist mainly at the end, as adding columns to the priority list screen causes it to glitch out, it's mostly just so i can mess with metrics without that issue
@@Secondyellowcard thanks for the quick reply! Would you recommend getting 2/3 scouts off their assignments? I have read that newer scouting requests will be handled by non pre-assigned scouts, rather than ones with an assignments.
Something else Matt as well. I heard you saying how there was 100 players in your report each time and I think that's cos you have it set to update weekly. Go into 'scouting', click the little thing next to filter and change inbox delivery options to every 2 days. It should help you out massively.
To give you an idea, with my other save, with 21 scouts, i was getting near 100 players in the reports and they were arriving basically every two days, such was the scale of the scouting lol

for some reason I cant see the u19/18 squads of the smaller teams. only big teams like England have players in the u19s. is this a database, scouting problem or its just not the right time to do this in my calendar.
Not all the best youngsters are in their national teams for various reasons. But, all the best youngsters have decent attributes and that's where i rather focus for filtering. Nobody needs to check every other team that exist in the game all one by one, manually.
Hello Sir SYC, FM23 scouting system is a bit different from FM22, do you have any plans to make a new scouting video aroung FM23 and to find the big talents?
Great procedure, similar to mine! My question is: when you finish a season do you repeat the same procedure? If so, does this not lead to having to discard again players already discarded in previous seasons?
When I do this all I get is scouting finished rather then scouting update so I have to look at each player stats before I can get rid is there anyway to fix this?
What should the basic scouting setup look like when doing this? I'm not getting these "Scouting Updates" emails, there's no nice list of scouted players for me to go through and whittle down, I'm still getting scouting reports for players I'm not scouting (or I don't think I am, cancelled all assignments prior to trying this). This seems like a great method for scouting, but it's hard to follow along with when nothing seems to be the same in my game.
It's possible to select all the Albanian players they they are playing in Sweden? And to make list with a specifik nationality that they are U16 or u17?
I do it once per year, but you will get a smaller amount of players if you do that, i mainly do it like this to avoid a gem coming through a getting poach before i can find them

in the top right of the scouting update email you can filter the players by scout rating so you don't have to discard them manually
The scout rating is somewhat irrelevant to this as your scouts can often rate really good players as C- or lower for no reason

It would potentially get a list of players, but it would exclude any that have yet to earn those caps, but also the max you can scout is 50 at a time anyway, so while it might speed things up a bit, you could miss more players
@@Secondyellowcard Interestingly something I just noticed. Although I got the notification that I couldn't scout more than 50 at a time when selecting the entire list of 600, I was actually able to scout about 200 at a time...maybe a fluke but worth looking into.
Manually will never be the way with this amount of data. This is a great method but needs better execution. Yours is a pretty good example.
My word this is a genius way to do it. I check it every month and scout any new players who have no rating yet. Normally get at least 30-50 new players every couple of months needing to be scouted.
@@Secondyellowcard even with 50 at a time, it's not hard to select 50, scout. See where you highlight finished then select the name and go to the next 50.
Should be able to get up to 500 there with about 20 clicks not adjusting for the times it tells you you selected too many and you need to unselect one by one to reduce it to 50. But you'll learn the approximation for that pretty quickly.
Maybe take you about 4 minutes to do.

This is brilliant. Started an Atlanta save and went into the second season with almost an entire new starting XI.. I'm not usually competitive for a few seasons because I like young players / regens, this found players that are real life regens. :D
I scout the national squads during the first international break, and then do it again during the second break just to see if any new players have been called up, you'll find a few more doing this.

How to get ONE big scout update, like in the video? I only get like 20 individual reports OR one report regarding individual player.
I fast-forward the list-making phase of this method by using the in-game editor (strictly for this purpose). I turn on 'Show all players in list' and filter to players in any national team.
After 7 days I don’t get a list of scouted players like that they all go to scouted page and cans discard them, anyone help me out please

From the looks of it it´s not the default FM skin so that´s probably why. Just look for the equivalent setting for it.

I have a problem with this method. There is no Report in my mailbox. Ever. Some players appear in Scouting Centre, but the number does not match what I ordered my scouts to check. Can anyone help?
I'm following this method, and sorting by potential and age, then highlight a list of players to scout for a week. But I don't have a scout option when I right click. It only tells me how many players from the list I've highlighted. What am I doing wrong?
You might not have the recruitment package available to scout all the players. Try and move some money to your scouting budget and change to world knowledge for a bit if you are able to do so.
I found a regen name whiteman I bought for 500k for my Liverpool save and he is a world beater he banged in 45 goals in is first season for me. And at the end of the is world 85 to 90 million pounds I also won champions league and he banged in 3 goals past real Madrid in the final. And now every club wants him psg offered me 200mil for him but I rejected and I only paid 500k for him I so love this forward is full name is james whiteman is a demon of a forward. I thought nothing of him at first but I gived him a chance and I'm glad I did just that I would never sell him even knowing every one wants him he also won awards to and is only 18 years of age
The only think I still need to know. How you set up your scouts? Just they take randomly jobs?
I love this video. One question for you. Alot of these youngsters come in at around the 2 star level. Not good enough for first team. But maybe too young too loan out...are these kind of players good ideas for youth teams or just too good for that and get them loaned out
It depends on your plans, so on my save i'm trying to build up the other teams in my league, so i loan them out as soon as i can, if they are too young they stay in the youth teams. A lot of times with players like this, teams will request a loan back as part of the deal so that might be a good solution in the mean time. Usually they won't suffer too much in your youth team until they are of loanable age :)

I just let me chief scout set his own assignments and haven't noticed it getting in the way that much :)

Subbed, saved and shared the vid! Thanks! How does it work when you have scouts on regional/country assignments? Can you leave them, doing that still? Wouldn't my scouts stop doing all other assignments given to them, throughout the year?
And how do I manage that my nation youth scouting updates won't get completely clustered with my regular scouting? Since mass discarding and 1 week scouting wouldn't be as efficient I assume?
As for the shortlist: in what way do you use that? Since you are looking at your priority list mostly.
I've not found that the other scout assignments get in the way too much, however you would have to be more diligent when it comes to discarding as players from other reports could get lost in there. I use the shortlist mainly at the end, as adding columns to the priority list screen causes it to glitch out, it's mostly just so i can mess with metrics without that issue
@@Secondyellowcard thanks for the quick reply! Would you recommend getting 2/3 scouts off their assignments? I have read that newer scouting requests will be handled by non pre-assigned scouts, rather than ones with an assignments.
Something else Matt as well. I heard you saying how there was 100 players in your report each time and I think that's cos you have it set to update weekly. Go into 'scouting', click the little thing next to filter and change inbox delivery options to every 2 days. It should help you out massively.
To give you an idea, with my other save, with 21 scouts, i was getting near 100 players in the reports and they were arriving basically every two days, such was the scale of the scouting lol

Not sure if this was covered but I sometimes use their current wage and I skip the players on like 80 pounds a week.
But most Brazilian/Argie kids are on £60/wk, even the better ones
for some reason I cant see the u19/18 squads of the smaller teams. only big teams like England have players in the u19s. is this a database, scouting problem or its just not the right time to do this in my calendar.
Not all the best youngsters are in their national teams for various reasons. But, all the best youngsters have decent attributes and that's where i rather focus for filtering. Nobody needs to check every other team that exist in the game all one by one, manually.

Great procedure, similar to mine! My question is: when you finish a season do you repeat the same procedure? If so, does this not lead to having to discard again players already discarded in previous seasons?

When I do this all I get is scouting finished rather then scouting update so I have to look at each player stats before I can get rid is there anyway to fix this?
What should the basic scouting setup look like when doing this? I'm not getting these "Scouting Updates" emails, there's no nice list of scouted players for me to go through and whittle down, I'm still getting scouting reports for players I'm not scouting (or I don't think I am, cancelled all assignments prior to trying this). This seems like a great method for scouting, but it's hard to follow along with when nothing seems to be the same in my game.

I do it once per year, but you will get a smaller amount of players if you do that, i mainly do it like this to avoid a gem coming through a getting poach before i can find them
