Thank you for this masterclass! I appreciate all the effort you put into making this video! I wish you success in all of your endeavors. 😊
Absolutely love this video, very helpful
Thanks for all the helpful tips!
Truly a Chien-Pao masterclass! Would love to see a more in-depth analysis of the Palkia build, though -- you lean very heavily into the Hands build while going over the matchups, and that definitely limits the usefulness of the video for those who don't want to use Hands.
Thank you and that’s definitely something I can look into. Right now I think hands is the strongest pick going into euic and rotation. Palkia is seeing more success build over in Japan and will definitely be open to explore and talk about that version in the future!
Dude this helped me so much thank you!! 🙏🙏
Love how concise and to the point your explanation is! You go indepth into how the deck functions and explain every cards purpose. Great video
Thank you so much!
Subscribed! I’m new to this game and really appreciate this in depth guide as I get to learn so much about CP but also the meta in general
First Rule of Chien Pao, don't abbreviate it like that. Please please please.
@@Ragnellrok aye captain! Hahaha
Hey! Love the in-depth video! Keep them coming❣️ it was kind of hard to understand what you were saying sometimes tho..
holy crap please keep doing these i just started and i was lucky the one ultimate guide you had was for the deck i picked
Thank you so much and have some in the works for the future!
Absolute master class. Congrats on the success man. I'm going to be sharing this anytime someone asks me about Chien Pao (I've also been calling it CHEN PAO even though my French relatives have been yelling at me for pronunciation 😅)
Thank you so much! Sometimes it just how I say it and that still could be wrong as well 😂
Absolutely awesome video! I’m brand new to Pokémon TCG and this really helped a lot. Got a new subscriber!! I’ll be tuned in for sure! Any tips where I can find useful general combos to learn for supporters and items?
Thank you so much! I always find the best place to learn that is from watching videos like this, reading some articles from the best players and practice on Pokémon Trading Card Game Live. It gives you that knowledge and first hand experience that can help know what cuts to run, when to play and how they function in the deck! Welcome to the tcg!
What a GREAT video!!! Could you make one of these for both pigeot zard and also lugia-ccino?
Thank you so much! Definitely plan on releasing a new mastering video next month
Hi, great video you have here! What do you think about Cyllene as a tech to help against control? I haven't tested it but the way I see it, it has a 75% chance of getting at least 1 card back into the deck. In my experience control has usually only been able to get 1 or 2 good hits (for example prime catcher, cancelling cologne, superior energy retrieval) with Eri and Sisters, which is unfortunately all they need to win most of the time, and my theory is Cyllene would help out there. Would maybe turo or penny or minior be a better tech for these match ups? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
I think sometimes Cyllene can be a bit situational of a card and can be easier discarded with PokeStop. But it is just make it in the top 4 list from Orlando. I feel like control is such a bad match up that you shouldn’t really tech for it as it’s only about ever 7% of the meta. But if I was to try a tech I would go for either lost vacuum or Turo
really great guide but i can't seem to go more than 4 games in the current format without bricking my opening hand and first three draws. i've tried several variations on the standard 60 (with Hands) and can't escape scenarios where i've got no access to draw power and my fridges and bidoofs are getting gusted up and KO'd. have you done any testing with proxies of the new cards? any less bricky?
Yeah I’ve done a fair amount of testing for the post rotation and honestly those hands still come and go but this list I feel works really strong and limits that poor set up.
Do you have any thoughts on DunDun instead of Bibarel for card draw? I’ve tried it some and it’s possibly less reliable, but it’s also sometimes nice to have free retreat for flexibility. I’m pretty new to chien pao though so I don’t know what’s best
I think that is an interesting way to play the deck. I have tried it out a bit but need more work with it as I feel it can be a good successor to bib once it's gone!
I don't see a reason to go for 2 colognes. The matchups you want to cologne manaphy are the ones where you're ahead most, if not all of the time. Zard in particular will always be behind in prize cards and for lost box, you really only have a singular turn to counter catcher+cologne them after the cram knockout. So you really don't have a 2nd gust effect to cologne twice in a game. These matchups are also not really hinged on getting a cologne play to win the game because there's iron hands that also does the job.
Really love your deck but i in the beginning it kinda bricky @@ do u have any solutions ?, it maybe because im a new player to this game.
Sometimes this deck will deal you some very hard hands, I have some when testing last night. It’s sometimes just try to set up bibarrel and ninja to draw and hope you can draw into it.
Ive had trouble getting set up, get the wrong cards in your prize cards and its trouble. Ive had each scenario when 2 x Bax, or 2 x Bilb and 2 x Sup Energy R ended up in the prize cards. What then?
Sometimes the prizes can be tough as this deck needs so much to set up. But playing out and trying to get the best odds helps learn the way around the Deck. Or going to the next match and seeing how it can change. I still get this poor hands and it's working out the max you can do to get the cards you need, is where the strength comes from!
@@CharlieTCG thank you. yes the prizes can impact. So far executing those initial 1-3 turns as good as possible is so important. Minor miss step can be costly, getting it right and its a blast to play out. Loving the deck and thanks for the vid and response 👍
how to beat single prizer roaring moon - koraidon ancient box? it seems impossible for cpao.
It’s such a hard match up. So ruined the best bet is to try and set up a 2 shot with rad Greninja and then finish with iron hands to take 2 prizes but this can be really hard to set up. It’s one of the worst match ups
Is it not overkill to bench 3 fridge and manaphy against the mirror?
It definitely isn't as they can get the the ninja combo with the cologne off sometimes quite quickly, having that safety net of an extra fridge mean you're still in the game and able to set up your Bax
dialga metang matchup please
It plays very much in going for a greninja play turn 2 on the Beldams on the bench or KOing the Dialga V. You need to try your best to stop a turn 2 Star Cronos from happening and slowing down their set up is the best way to play for
I'd like to better understand the ratios of 2 cologne and 2 crypto's. Isn't 2 colognes a bit much? 2 cryptos I can sorta understand the vision on that.
I do agree, sometimes that is too much. I added a second one to help more again the mirror and zard as there are more ways to draw into it and need to get the combos against their Manaphy. It also helps against stall so you can retreat and go through mimikye. I really like the 2 cod breakers but that can be swapped out for 1 Iono for early game draw or late game distruption
Why doesn’t Chien pao play TM devo?
It’s a lot to do with space and sometimes it is not a viable attack for this style of deck!
There is no need to play TM Devo in a deck that can KO any pokemon. TM Devo is great in decks that have set numbers they hit for. They might not be able to get the damage they need to KO the opponents active so they use Devo to take KOs they wouldn't otherwise get. Chien-pao is designed to KO anything regardless of HP so they don't play the TM.
Charizard MU you have to KO Pidgeot asap otherwise it's guaranteed game lost
That is true, that can be game loosing. If you can not get the Ninja play, that is always the next best thing to aim for the Pidgeot
20:19 Aqua Return?
That is definitely an option for it but sometime that damage might not be relevant in the end
@@CharlieTCG Fair point, I don't even use it that often.
