    despite it's really troublesome frustrations, i thoroughly enjoyed this game. makes me pretty dang excited for the latter installments if i liked the almost agreed upon "worst" title of the series so much. next up is final fantasy 9, it's about time i tackle my favorite game! as always, thanks for the support!

      John Smith Is Breath of Fire 6 bad? Haven’t heard much about it.

      Do people call BoF1 the worst? That's pretty sad considering it's the most comfortable game in the series to experience without the complex progression systems of the later games separating you from the core of exploration and combat with a fun set of characters. 1 is definitely the best to just pick up and play and that's a quality missing from a lot of turn-based RPGs even now.

    Would you believe when I was a kid. I beat this game with only the level one dragons lol. Only because I didn't know the fishing pole allowed you to fish for armor in the wells🤣. It also took me months to figure out that the pass to get into a town what hidden literally under a NPC who dissappears and that said" search here in this village." I love this game to near death for its exploration with all characters abilities, its like a metroidvania turn based rpg, even with its crazy high encounter rate.

      honestly, that's quite the dang feat. maybe we were just more patient/resilient as children with games that pushed us and made us agonizingly explore every crevice. i really enjoyed it!

      @@HighLevelReviews lol I discovered that the E.key when used as an item always dealt a flat 30 attack no matter the defense of the boss. So I just had Nina spam it, since her physical attack did no were near that against a bos. along with bleau magic, ryus level one dragons and karns full fusion of everyone else to defeat goddess Maria. It took close to an hour but I did it lol.

    I always enjoy your reviews, and this one is no exception. It's been decades since I've played through this game, but your review definitely brought back the good and sometimes bad memories of it. I'll have to give this one a playthrough again for sure at some point.

    4:21 I mean not every RPG is about the story. Most RPGs focus on customization, which doesn’t necessarily mean an amazing story.

    • @HighLevelReviews
      @HighLevelReviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      from my understanding there are certainly differences but it seems most people prefer the snes version so that's what i decided to play.

    Please review newer games like the Trails series. I really like how you review games. Very detailed and understandable reviews like this should be the status quo since we gain more insights if this format was used often. Unfortunately most are just full of air. Your reviews in general are unlike those 5 or worse 2 mins. reviews out there that are mostly shallow and full of nonsense.
    Hope you consider this.
    Have a wonderful life!

    that mind set from the creator might be why i can't get into srpgs. the battles are to long and they get boring after awhile. as there is nothing else to do besides battles i really start losing interest every time i try one.

    Bro.. Where did you go🥲
    I have been watching your videos lately and have really liked theme.
    You should play breath of fire v dragon quarter it insanely brilliant...ahead of its time. Dragon Quarter is a reboot so you don't need to play previous breath of fire games to enjoy this.

    Its really fun how when I got a new PC, I got so used to new, modern games, I forgot about the frustration of older games (esp. SNES/PS1 era JRPGs).
    So when I see this review, I can both relate and not-relate at the same time.

  • @RPGtourguide

    I love the Breath of Fire series, even the SNES titles despite their flaws. I do have to say that the early game for BoF1 does drag a bit for me. How few options you have in combat at the start makes the opening section a rough one to get through at times. Even still, I think it’s worth powering through those parts to enjoy the game as a whole. Well done on another review! Hope all is well on your end! :)

      @@HighLevelReviews I found it, I double checked it, he uses very similar wording but not exactly the same, so I may be wrong it's Hell Fire RPGs. It's at around 1:05 onwards in his v ideo I find sus.

    • @HighLevelReviews
      @HighLevelReviews  ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@zoa1-99....... i know hellfire, he's a cool dude. he definitely didn't plagiarize and neither did i - the first breath of fire is narratively sparse and the intro is one of the most action-packed segments of the entire game. i see nothing suspicious about either of our videos - of course we're going to use similar opening footage when we're talking about how quickly breath of fire gets going. go watch other bof reviews, they all mention how fast bof jumps into the thick of things and use that exact scene to complement the point they're making.

    Looks too bland to me. Breath Of Fire 3 is boring me to tears as it is, let alone this game.
