Nice! That worked a lot better than I expected. Another option to add to my toolkit.
Glad I could help!
Wow.. didn't expect it to do so well. Thanks for the vid .
No problem 👍
Very Nice!
Thanks!
Awesome, I read ( I know everything you read on the internet is true) that it's not a good material to laser. Well that just proved that wrong,
It would depend on the resin. Use resin made from things found in nature rather than a chemistry lab and you will be fine.
@@SteveMakesEverything OK
What's the wattage on the laser you used to do that? I'm having issues layering my epoxy projects
My co2 laser is 90W, but I had the power tuned down pretty low for this
@@SteveMakesEverything Thank you for answering that. Definitely more power than I have.
@@jayfalcon75 If you have any laser you can do this. This should work with a 5W laser
@SteveMakesEverything I have a 20-watt diode, and we have yet to break the surface of the epoxy. I wish I could share a picture
@@jayfalcon75 Let me give this a try. It's possible a diode laser won't mark resin (especially if it is clear or white.
is this a diode laser? and what kind of paint? acrylic?
This is a co2 laser but this should also work with a diode laser for darker colors at least. The paint is just black acrylic paint brushed in and wiped off the surface.
Is it safe? Does it put out any sort of dangerous fumes when lasered?
This would very much depend on your resin. I always use environmentally friendly, low VOC resins which have no smell or toxic compounds. Of course I still vent safely out of my shop
Yes it does
Does it safe and will not be caution of damage to laser the head?
Resin is fairly inert stuff as a rule, so it won't damage your laser. However to be safe for yourself, always make sure you vent laser fumes outside - even with wood.
Hi, can I ask you which brand of resin you are using for engraving? Thank you
I’ve switched to New Classic Resin
Is it really safe to use with a laser engraver?
@@karenadams8465 This would depend on the resin you use. I use organic resin because it doesn't have any smell when you mix it. it's perfectly safe and doesn't even smell a bit when you engrave it.
How or why are you using odor as an indicator of safety?
You really need to play around with settings but yeah it works.
Yes and I think this would change from resin to resin or even between colors or resign
Can you share the model of that engraver?
Not sure what you mean. Do you mean the model I engraver or the actual laser?
@@SteveMakesEverythingIsn’t engraver is a laser itself? I thought engraver is the whole setup with laser in it.
@@ruderussian9811 Ah, the laser I used for this is my own DIY CO2 laser
@@SteveMakesEverythingOk thank you
Do not atemp it
Unless u dint care about lungs ande laser itself
There is no basis for this remark. There is nothing in organic resin that will harm you or your laser - this isn’t pvc or other plastic. However like any engraving you should have proper fume extraction to the outside.

While engraving u generate a lot of dust... Like a lot
It's not only a smoke
While working with cured resin the good respirator mask is mandatory.
Guess why ? Because it causes cancer, very quickly. While sanding you are getting a rough dust, while engraving the dust particles are extremely small
