    For engraving on wood NOT used for food prep, I use borax before, and acrylic spray after. How does one preserve the engraving's DARK COLOR on a cutting board intended for food? Are your boards decorative, or for food prep? How did you keep it from smearing when you applied oil?

      These are bamboo boards. They engrave really good and dark. There is no need for borax on Bamboo.

      They are common bamboo boards. you can actually get them from everywhere!

      I have found them at Doller Tree for $5 but these don't have handles cut into them

      I used Vegan Oil suitable for cutting boards.

      It depends on your laser and on the wood ..
      This is bamboo ,and usually I engrave at 80% - 4000mm/min

    How deep is the engraving?

      it is not deep !
      it burns the surface of the wood.
      it doesn't go deep
