Both provide excellent isolation. The 700 Pro X have a more neutral sound signature whereas the 300 tilt towards bass. Mids are reasonably detailed on both. The 300 has tighter clamping force which can be a comfort issue for longer sessions. As a practical example, either will work very well for monitoring while playing acoustic drums. In the end, I would choose based on your preferred sound. I hope this helps out!
@@askdrtk I have DT990 Pro and after buying that I realized how much I hate treble. I modded it with paper towel to make them bearable. I'll take more bass for sure than more treble and I think sennheiser oval earpads are more comfortable after the breakin period as I find myself constantly adjusting beyerdynamic headphones because if earpads goes little bit here and there, sound changes noticeably. Sennheiser are cheaper too, I want to know that beyerdynamic really more detailed than Sennheiser? or it's just boosted treble.

Dude, I own the Beyerdynamics DT 770 250ohm, 700 Pro X, and the Sennheiser HD 600. It depends. There is not more detail on the Beyerdynamics, the mid range on the Sennheisers are a lot more flat and produce more mids and natural sounding highs than any of the Beyerdynamic headphones. I have modded my Beyerdynamic headphones...I went to Walmart found some felt with a removable back so that the thin felt sheet would stick to plastic. I measured out the inside of the headphone and with an xacto knife cut the parts up and installed them inside of the headphone being careful not to cover up the bass port in the rear(otherwise you lose all of the low end). Also I used Viva Signature Cloth paper towe one layerl. Carved up little pieces of the paper towel to cover the driver right under the foam pad. This seems to allow the highs to come through without sounding fake or hurting my ears. It took a lot of work for me to get to a point where I like these headphones (Beyerdynamic DT 700 Pro X and 770s). The Sennheiser HD 600 is a 300 ohm headphone and you'll need a headphone amp to drive it but they took significantly less work for me to like, my only complaint is that the HD 600 doesn't have any low end (I am not a bass head either), I ordered a piece of copper from Custom Cans that fits over the back of the driver that raises the low end some. Also I bought a balanced headphone cable and that helps (balanced is just separate grounds for left and right, instead of grounding both to the same ground) and having a balanced cable helps. Ya don't have to spend a bunch of money on a balanced cable, they can be expensive though. You can get a balanced cable for hd 600s for 20-30 bucks. The custom cans mod I bought was like 30 bucks too. The high end on the HD 600s don't hurt my ears or sound fake and because they have more mid range or produce more midrange they actually sound louder and I find myself not turning my music up as much. But they are open back. No headphones are flat (not that I can afford anyway) but some of them are closer to flat so there is that. Custom Cans has some mods for Beyerdynamic, an they aren't super expensive. I mean an I went to Walmart an for just a few bucks and my time I made my DT 700 Pro Xs how I wanted them to be and the 700 Pro X comes apart super easily too. Like they are made that way so replacing parts is easy. I used a butter knife to get them apart, just to pop the ring out under the ear pads. Butter knife because it's dull and wouldnt cut or scratch anything up.
i been recommended DT 770 80ohms several time but due to budget went for hyperX cloud alpha and since they broke after extreme daily use for over 3 years i had to go back and use these very inferior steelseries actis 3 since these arctis 3 sound distorted and lack of bass pretty much everywhere i dont like them one bit 700 pro X is probably headset i want to get but no matter what still out of budget range i use headphones both for gaming and listening to music choosing the best headset is a endless nightmare
I hope you'll eventually get there. For me, it's the DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm. I just compared a bunch of options, including the 770 Pro X LE, 700 Pro X, Sennheiser HD 280 Pro, AKG K-361, and some cheaper options from AKG, Superlux and the t.bone. I settled for the DT 770 Pro for the following reasons: - Best sound among all for me (also beating the Pro X due to more detailed treble - it's not more pronounced, it's more resolving but well integrated on the classic 770 Pro) - Comfort: The classic 770 Pro is a bit more comfortable than the 770 Pro X LE (less clamp, lighter) and much more comfortable than the 700 Pro X (AKG K-361 comes close but feels different) - Repairability/durability (only the HD 280 Pro comes somewhat close) - a Beyerdynamic is an investment for a long time, so the slightly higher price pays off quickly - Which leads to the best price/performance for me in the end The K-361 is a nice set of headphones as well. Very balanced sound, but less detailed and far less exciting for me. And I didn't trust its build quality/durability. The headband is not repariable, which is a big issue for me since it will wear down over time. The DT 770 Pro are not perfect as well. They have some dips and can sound a tiny bit boxy in the mids for certain recordings. Also, they play a bit quieter than most other options. But I found that I can get used to those things.

What would you recommend between these and the Shure SRH840A that you have reviewed before? I need a pair of headphones for recording/monitoring my voice for my podcast and for editing YT videos (where I'm only speaking ). Or if you have any suggestion better than these two that I found to be good candidates from my research
I use headphones near 15 hrs a day. Since some month ago, I've been using for first time open-back headphones and now, to me, there's no turning back to closed-back.
Fifteen hours is a long day with headphones...open-backs are the answer without question. I use pretty much always use open-back too unless I need isolation for recording. Cheers!

This was an excellent review. I liked this analysis a lot. I would like to see you run audio tests on a pair of Sony headphones known as the MDR-1AM2. Sony claims that the MDR-1AM2's exclusive 40mm HD aluminum-coated liquid crystal polymer drivers deliver "clear, lively sound, especially on mid to high tones" and that they also reproduce a "smooth, precise response across the entire frequency range." I do have a couple of sets I have been working with… The review on the Sundara is coming up first. Without overgeneralizing, the physics of planar headphones give them the potential to be a valuable mixing tool. All are not, but there are some very useful studio tools available in this category.

I am currently testing the open-back version, but do have the closed-back model on my list and a comparison will follow. I normally use impulse response tests for monitor setup, but it is interesting for comparison of planar vs dynamic drivers as this is one of the benefits often promoted about planars. There is some debate as to its usefulness in terms of real world performance when headphones are reproducing more than a single frequency impulse in a very confined volume of space, but I will do some testing on the Sundara open-back. The main issue I believe is that differences will vary with the physics of everyone's ears, including the simulated ones on the binaural microphone, so test results may be interesting but potentially less useful in real-world listening.

But I did noticed a good thing and that is the typical planar impedance response is consistently flat throughout the freq range vs the dynamic drivers - which rises and fall on certain frequencies. I believe the Sundara cheaper closed back has more bass output than its open back sibling. Yet very expensive models from Audeze mostly built theirs based on open back designs. Just an observation. Anyway looking forward to your reviews.

Detachable cables are a major consideration for me as well. Not everyone likes them, but for me coiled cables fit my workflow and I have used them whenever possible for years…wish these came with that option as well…Cheers!

Got these to accompany my openbacks, its very good for monitoring the low-end also when needed responds exceptionally good to headphone eq'ing.
