Hi Bobby. I never ever comment on TH-cam videos but I just wanted to drop a quick line and say I completely enjoyed watching this video end to end, it was really well put together from start to finish. I'm hopefully buying an 86 next weekend and this video has just made me even more enthusiastic. Hope yours is still running as well as in the video!
Thank you. Mine still goes great. I think they're great cars and you can, but you really don't have to do anything to them. They're pure fun in standard trim without mods. I'm sure you'll really enjoy yours when you get it.
I also want this car for so long. But it 2024 will be my year. After driving Fiat Coupe 20VT, Alfa GTV V6 24V, Mazda3, Alfa 146 TI, Alfa MiTo. This will be a good next. But here in the Netherland they are really expensive
@@BRZguy Ow yeah. Hope this year. And so not 100% next year. Now I’m driving Alfa MiTo 1.4 Turbo. Chipped to 175HP. Sweet car. But i mis the real dive experience. How low you already drive GT86? And where you from? Greetings from the Netherlands 😎✌️
Great video! interior-wise you mentioned the later year got the white center RPM meter with the screen and speed reading. This comes with even the 2012 model, but it`s on the higher spec ones. It also comes with a WAY nicer looking center console control panel (AC controls)
Great video, I’ve just bought a 2013 GT86 and it makes me smile everyday. I want to upgrade my exhaust to UEL and was wondering where you got yours made?
G'Day, I'm not sure in which part of the world you live in but I'm in the Australian Capital Territory. I got my exhaust and it was fitted at Neal Bates automotive. They build cars for the 86 race series here in Australia. I don't know what brand they use so I'm not sure if I'm giving you any help. My exhaust has uneven headers. The advantage for me is that apart from more Kilowatts it gives more torque a bit lower down in the rev range. Better acceleration in town (I don't have to rev the cr@p out of it to get it to boogy) where I do most of my driving. My car sprints a bit better but has less top end speed than the race cars. That's the opinion of someone who builds 86s for racing. The combination of the exhaust and the Open Flash tune eliminated the torque dip that people talk about with the 86. I'd advise that as you dive and enjoy the heck out of you 86 for a little while, have a think about what you want from the exhaust. The torque kicking in a little lower down in the rev range is nice and I doubt you will notice less top end speed. After all I am talking about what a race driver wants from a racing car.
I'd recommend the Tomei UEL. It's one of the better made headers. Unfortunately you have to import it from JP because tomei USA split off from tomei JP and make inferior quality parts now. I think it was $700 on Nengun with $200 shipping last I checked. You of course need a tune as well. I got a 2017 86 almost a year ago and yep, still so happy whenever I drive it :D
@@ralkia I bought the TOMEI UEL and a new Cobra Sport exhaust with Carbon Tips. I had it remapped and not only does it sound great it has lost its torque dip. Thanks for the recommendation.
The car is honestly good In my country most cars are just 100hp, so when i here it's 200hp and people are saying it's slow i wonder, My car is a 160hp and I'm help about it, i want to get an 86 and enjoy it for the car it is And yes they are people with faster car and they enjoy like BMW'S, Audi's and Mercedes But I'm slowly joing the car community and would like an 86 And thanks for the video
@connortraynor1643 I should not have answered your question while still suffering the affects from a head knock I received in a football match. The 86 has a very easy life and I doubt it's gone intentionally over the speed limit for years. Everyone has those moments when they're sitting in the flow of traffic and they look at the speedo and they're over because everyone is slightly over the limit, so you drop back to the limit and everyone zooms past. That's it for me nowadays. I got it as my more daring days were coming to an end. However, you don't have to break the speed limit to have fun in the corners. If I got it twenty years ago it probably would have spent most of its time, way north. If that's what you're asking. Back then I was into some hard core off roading and my old truck couldn't go much faster than 95klms. Probably just as well.
It's almost 10 years now and it's travelled 92000klms. It doesn't travel very far nowadays but in the past it's gone from here in Canberra, North to Sydney, south to Melbourne and west to Wagga and Griffith.
The valve spring problem was a worldwide issue affecting 2012-2013 vehicles. Mine is a MY2014 and was not affected. I escaped by a few months. The only recall on my car was a problem where the wiring could rub against something causing a short which could set off an airbag. That was 2012-2015 vehicles.
Seven years. Time flies when you're having fun. Or so I'm told. Good one. Nice clear video.

Love your honesty and the mods for the vehicle look great! I agree the minimal radio design is amazing.
Just bought a 2015 FRS, so exited to start driving it!

Have you done any recalls for the engine ? Or is that only a USA model problem ?
