Hi, here I just used a light foam from a keycaps box. You can also found this kind of foam for packing dishes in some store. I just cut around the PCB and insert switches through.
I tried adding tape (two layers) but couldn't close the casket, seems like its too thick. Most likely I will keep their stock switches (I don't mind them, red ones) but I might change keycaps and will lube switches.
Yes it could be a bit too thick espacially at the bottom of the board. Maybe add two layer on the top and one on the bottom. It also depends of the tape I suppose. Have fun with you modding! I'm sure switche will be way better :)
Heyy love this -- gonna try on mine to see if it helps with the clacky space bar at all haha. Do I have to cut individual holes through the foam before putting the switch in? Or is it fine to just insert through, even with PCB switch instead of plate mount switch?
It has but like a I was saying, I never had any trouble with painter tape. The keyboard doesn't heat up even under load, so unless you've got bare wires or a damaged battery, this shouldn't be a problem. But if you have the slightest doubt, don't hesitate to use eletric tape instead.
Hello sir. I bought this keyboard and the lube you had the link in the description and i am concerned that if i get a switch opener(which i don't find) i might break the switch. Can you give me advice of a method i can disassemble the switches? its my first time modding a keyboard so if you could help i would be greatful :)
Hello! You can forget the switch opener. I didn't mention in this video but my opener wasn't comptible with this switches. So I opened them with two very thin screwdrivers. It's a little bit complicated but I didin't break any of them. So I think if you are not to hard with them, it will be good! My technique was to put a screwdriver under the tab on the first side and lift slightly to get out of the clip. Then put the second screwdriver on the other side, pressing a little harder to do the same on the other side. Then you can lube your parts! Let me know if you have any trouble!
@@Ferakeebs has 2.4ghz connection, Gateron Switches, bit thicker foam between the pcb.. Listed coming with better keycap/switch puller but it does not. Think that's about it...
Really? I've never heard about that issue. I don't use Windows 11, so I can't answer this question, but it seems really strange to me that a keyboard wouldn't work on Windows 11. Maybe it's a driver issue?
Hey man, great video! I got same keyboard and want to mode it as well. But i have a question. You used painters tape in your video and not an electric one. I read lots of rumors that it's unsafe to use painters tape if keyboard has battery. What is your experience? Since GM610 does have battery
Than you very much! I read the same thing. I think it shouldn't be a problem as long as the wires are properly insulated and the battery isn't damaged (in that case, with or without tape, the result will be catastrophic...) But if you have the slightest doubt, don't hesitate to use eletric tape instead. The advantage of this type of tape is that it's much thicker. No need for multiple layers.
It’s mechanical switches, Outemu Brown to be precise. I never try optical switches but I don’t think it will work just to replace them. The laser part is on the board, not in the switch.
In this case, it is for gaming but many person use a 60% keyboard (or less) at work and have no issue at all to use it. It all depends on the use and the user.
Hey! Welcome in this new world (or rabbit hole 😅) This keyboard is pretty good, but a lot of time has passed and new, more attractive products have arrived on the market. In an equivalent price range, I suggest you take a look at the Leobog Hi75.
Oh no... sorry to read that :/ I'm always very careful when disassembling or reassembling PCBs because it's the kind of thing that happens very quickly :/ Here I've taped the plastic button to the case in the same position as the switch so that they're perfectly opposite each other. How does it break? Is it the switch or the plastic slider?

Where are the white keycaps from?
I hate how I followed every single set with the same keyboard, and it took all day, yet sounds nothing like this. Mines still extremely pingy
Really? But pingy on the stabs or on the switches? Is that the same brown switches? 🤔
what screwdriver did you use to disassemble the keyboard, I tried several but none worked
I used a torx screwdriver. I should work if they have not changed screw type.
i also hv a gm610 and its realy good but i waas wondering where u found the foam dampener tht was perfectly cut out for the specific keyboard

@@Ferakeebs when you put foam, do you pierce it with switches or you do that before?
@@Chaserbl Directly with the switch. The foam was thin so it was ok without damaging the switches.
@@Ferakeebs interesting thanks, all I needed to know
Will Akko switches work with this keyboard?
For sur no problem. Same as other brands.

You can directly insert the switch through, no problem!
Doesnt this keyboard have a battery in it? If so, shouldn't we use electrical tape instead of painters tape since it can be a fire hazard?

Haha! I'm glad you liked the video! 😂
The sound difference before and after is CRAZYYYYY
Thanks! Indeed! The most important part is certainly the lubrication of the switches.

Did you have to desolder the switches and solder them back again?
No this board is hotwap, it mean that switches are just "connected" and clips to the main board without solder.

Some brown Outemu switches

Just by pushing them into the plate and PCB. I'm not quite sure to understand your problem. Have you some kind of special switches?

how do you take the switches out?
You can use a switch puller. You can find them on Amazon or directly with your keyboard (but not on this one).
