    Today we are replacing the EVAP Vapour Filter Assembly. The EVAP Vapour Filter can fail due to either the filter becoming clogged or the EVAP Diagnostic Pump failing and these issues will cause a P2402 Check Engine Light to appear on the dashboard.
    I was keen to provide this particular maintenance work for my viewers because there is absolutely No content around detailing this issue and how to resolve it…I am the first to provide this content!
    Have you performed any maintenance work on your Supercar? Please let me know below and if you like these style of Workshop videos?

    Hi Rich, Kudos to your great videos. They are full of information that you don't see elsewhere. I bought a 458 Italia about the same time you purchased yours. I have always been a Porsche fan but this car has been tremendous. Keep u the good work.

    You're braver than me. How is the resale situation affected by you doing work on your 458? I don't know if I would be very keen if someone said they had done work themselves?

      People that know me in the car community have no issue and because they know how pedantic and perfectionist I am they realise I am taking more care and performing the work at least as good as a Ferrari Tech...probably better! I have a very strong engineering and tech background and also used to rebuild engines and maintain my own daily drivers for many years.

      @@RichReviews_ Excellent. Just a concern. Whenever I have sold a car, that I have done the simplest thing to, with a receipt for parts, people can be very sniffy. I suppose they know nothing, so assume that no one else does either?

      Yes that’s pretty much the case. It amazes me the ignorance that exists with acceptance to write blank cheques to dealerships.
      The bizarre truth is that many major big name dealerships screw up big time yet because they have the big brand name and flashy workshop owners believe them to be the best until they get hit with incompetence.

    Nice Video. I had to remove the wheelhouse to access the purge valves last week. After replacing the purge valves I now have P0442 instead of P1437 (Went from emission large leak to small leak). You should make a video on teaching how to jack the car up and do this kinds of work.

      Thanks Jay...With the Italia I would have thought you could replace the purge valves with access from the engine bay as they are p[laced under the EVAP Vapour Separator?
      I did provide a video on how to jack the 458 up and put on axle stands...it is within the Wheels Recolouring video and a link to that video is in the Description of this video to help owners.

    So I found charcoal pieces inside my purge valve/flush valves. I think I need to replace my EVAP Vapour Filter/ Charcoal Canister too. Is 282523 the part you got?

    • @RichReviews_
      @RichReviews_  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Inside them or inside the pipes?
      If you have carbon/charcoal in there from the Vapour canister (filter) you may need to replace it but replace the whole EVAP Vapour Filter Assembly as I did with new Diagnostic pump.
      You may also need to replace the EVAP vapour separator if charcoal got through the purge valves because the EVAP flow is:
      Tanks-Separator-Purge valves-EVAP Vapour Filter

      Jay, did you hear a ticking noise after cold start at idle? I had my evap canister replaced and I hear what sounds like a tooth in a metal can when the car idles after cold start. Car is fine. Just weird noise.

      @@RichReviews_ Thank you Rich, very informative and helpful. I think the challenge part would be the blue clip you shown @5:09.
      Do you pull the blue clip downwards first to unlock?

    • @RichReviews_
      @RichReviews_  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No, all the clips you pull back but just a little...never force these otherwise you could be in a world of pain to replace them.
      In their 'locked' position they 'lock' the deformable white pressure 'pads' so you cannot press them...when yiou Gently pull these clips back they enable you to press on the side white tabs to unlock the pipes so you can pull them off while pressing the white tabs at the same time.

    they are so bloody fiddly to work on aren't they? getting to the manual parking break with the tool was a bloody nightmare. You need octopus hands. had it not been for your video on that I would have been spending the money to get the dealer to do it.
