Bleeding The Hydraulics of a Ferrari Folding Roof!

The Ferrari Roof Fix that No One talks about and is not on the Spider Service Schedule! Today we finalise the repair for the 458 folding roof by Bleeding the roof hydraulic system and in turn replace all the old hydraulic fluid. This made such a difference to the roof operation and should really be included in all Ferrari Spider maintenance schedules!
There is NO information online detailing how to repair the Ferrari 458 Spider folding roof, here I am the first to provide a detailed explanation!

Today we finalise the 458 Tonneau Cover Roof fix by Bleeding the Hydraulic System which actually ends up as a Full Replacement of the Hydraulic Fluid!
I have learnt that, as with most other hydraulics, the fluid gets tainted/worn and needs replacing periodically. This is never discussed by dealers/workshops and does not exist in the Ferrari Spider maintenance schedules!

I have three Ferraris (F12, F12, and 599) with aftermarket (Novitec) front end hydraulic lifts. The pump and reservoir are mounted in the trunk and are easily accessible - however the assembly is completely exposed (no clam shell housing as compared to your 458 roof mechanism). As you described, without the housing that your 458 possesses, these hydraulic pumps are not silent 😅 Love your show!

The 458 front lift is also hydraulic with the motor behind the driver seat and the reservoir in the rear engine compartment. This fluid of course should also be checked and renewed as necessary.
