      I do agree on this but would like to add that some people aren’t raised with this style but do have it in them to pull it of once they discover it, in my eyes that is what this channel is mainly about: to find and teach the young guys who have the determination, willingness, manners and or physical appearance to pull of this style about this style. Those that do not have what it takes will fail but only the right guys with the right attitude will be able to take away from these videos and succeed in wearing this style with confidence.
      Some people who are born into this style don’t have it in them to continue life with this style and will become like most of genz but for example this guy was a goth before and now you would almost think he was raised in Buckingham palace.

    My main issue with the 'old money' look is that too often you'll look like a complete twat if you try it. Imagine wearing a cricket jumper on a night out in Manchester. You'd have your own blood on it before too long. Old money outfits work great if you're attending a polo match or a regatta. If you live on a council estate in Wigan, they're not going to help much. My experience has been that it's better to have your own sartorial style, and base it on the Four Commandments of dressing well;
    -Put some thought into your outfit
    -Choose your shoes wisely; women WILL notice them
    -Put your outfit on with care
    -Forget you're wearing it. Nothing looks worse than a self-conscious man trying to look cool.

      almost impossible to wear a cricket jumper, especially white, without looking like a douche flex. I wear a navy cricket but temper it with a denim shirt. I like the contrasting sprezzatura style of preppy cowboy.

    • @oliverholmes-gunning5372
      @oliverholmes-gunning5372 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Kind of depends, though. There's not a lot of difference between some of the more casual fringes of old money aesthetic and the archetypal 80s hooligan look (Ralph Lauren polo shirts, Sergio Tacchini tennis sweaters, Burberry accessories, etc). And tbf, you'd look as much of a twat wearing an Adidas trackie at Henley Regatta as you would wearing a blazer and cricket sweater on a Wigan council estate. Different outfits for different occasions...
      The main thing I dislike about the old money aesthetic is the name and its implications, because real old money dresses like complete shite (tatty cardigans, muddy boots, corduroy trousers that have been handed down across 9 generations and the like). Not to mention the fact that if you're curating a specific aesthetic (one made popular on fucking Instagram no less) it doesn't seem very authentic to me. I have no problem with the clothes per se (shit, I own 2 cricket sweaters myself), but much more of a problem with people trying to curate a specific "image" they copied off social media, no matter what that image is).

      @@3581tossit I live in a region where wearing anything smart at all, even chinos and a sports jacket, is universally considered to be the mark of a douche flex, so I learned not to care about what assumptions others make about one's clothes long ago😂 always liked cricket sweaters myself, I have one navy and one white. I like to combine the white one with a plaid shirt and my leather and sheepskin flying jacket personally, while the navy one I find works best with a striped or patterned shirt and a light-coloured jacket or suit.

      Who cares, you should wear smart clothing no matter where you are, council estate or a dive like Manchester, I walked down the road in Manchester getting shouted at by tracksuit and trainer wearing men in their 30's and 40's who were stood outside some nasty pub, you think I gave two sh#ts what they said or thought of me? It was sad really because they were supposed to Men much older than I at the time but they were dressed like children and they were acting like children and this is now the "norm"? We must strive to be the change we want to see in this world, so be polite dress well practice kindness and forgive others as they know not what they do.

    I don´t understand the fuss about white dress shoes. They are just beautiful and great color for summer. What is there not to believe in? When it comes to classic clothing, most of this style is great. The only problem might be, that some men wear this chunky shoes like James said or other flaws. Regarding the sweater, it is ok to me. Looking at the picture, it fits to the man and of course thick clothing is always littlebit lumpy, but the point is to keep you warm, right? So no problem there.

    "Old Money" is a trend, nor should they wear "Ivy League", etc. Gentlemen should not wear trends, they should wear classic men's wear. I think the last comment Augustina made was the most accurate and relevant. Everything else is subjective. Especially that all but 2 guys in your sample photos are models, I think they can get away with wearing a lot more than what normal fat, short, bald, disproportional bodied men can't pull off. With women it's more about the looks, build and height of the man than his clothes. If you put a well dressed short bald ugly guy next to a tall muscular well chiseled jawlined model wearing thongs and a t shirt; I guarantee she will always pick the better looking guy than the best dressed. And there's nothing wrong with that because it's an instinct humans are drawn to attractiveness for procreation of our species. But to judge clothing style is an individual choice. To be honest I don't find Augustina's style was to my preference. That 1950s dress and headband reminds me of the Happy Days era. A bit outdated for modern times. She was also wearing an Apple watch which was offensive. However, if she looked like a supermodel I'm sure I would overlook her style mistakes

    These studies need to look at real vintage fashion . They don't give any hint at any notion of "Old Money " at all! Young boys with bangles and shirts unbuttoned ,T shirts under shiny suits! Pah!

    Why did you choose the most casual outfit that Iman wears. He dresses normally very nice.

      Also why are all the photos except 2 are of models. If I looked like any of those tall, well proportioned, chiseled jawed models I wouldn't care what 1950s dressed Augustina thought about my dress sense. I'd score any girl off my looks alone.

    The problem with every guy you showed is they were all 6’2 and 170lbs. That’s just unrealistic.

    Iman Gadzhi just looks like a poser, "I'm so cool I can break all the rules, look at me I'm such a rebel."

    • @oskarek57
      @oskarek57 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yes. That is what he is doing and it is nonsense. There are rules, that can never be broken. That´s why they are called rules right? Wearing classic suit with just T-shirt and sneakers is really off. Suit is intended to be worn with a shirt, dress shoes and tie. Yes, even a tie is a must, because it is a natural part of a suit. If he wants to wear suit in a casual way, then he should not wear a suit, but just sport jacket and chinos. Easy as it is.
      Most people, who break rules in simple things, probably break rules even in much more serious matters and I don´t like disrespectful people, who think, they can twist everything to their view. The world doesn´t work that way. This guy is not cool at all and perhaps not even confiden. That´s why he mixes modern clothing with classic one, just to fit in society much better. What is so cool about it? Nothing.

    Your girlfriend's dress style looks a little old money. Shes like something out of the 1930s. How can a pair of trousers be offensive ?. Anyway good to hear a females point of view.

    Geez, I actually think all of the outfits were horrible... dreadful, as a matter of fact. Their nannies should have dressed them better.

    I don't like the contrasting of the soles at 2:22. It's not elegant, looks somewhat corny, and it just reminds me of those silly VANs canvas shoes.
