How to Build a Garage Addition 11: Installing House wrap, Base Trim, and Wainscot

  • During this episode of How to Build a Garage Addition, the weather is great to start, so we install house wrap. Once the wind picks up just a little too much we give up our goal of installing our end wall steel and concentrate on installing our base trims and wainscot. If you haven't already noticed the theme of this build...we start something...then move onto something else thanks to weather.

Probably the best Ryan’s th-cam.com/users/postUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans on building a shed is hardly ever found. And Ryan takes the mystery out of different types of foundation options, etc. He even shows how to build a shed with different designs. Very comprehensive, covering different roofing materials, siding, etc.

There is no way I would (or could) build anything like this, absolutely no need for it here in England and I've got no room. However, since discovering this channel about a week ago, I've watched dozens of these videos and builds. Maybe this is why I haven't fixed that 6x4 (some imperial measurements for you lot) garden shed that makes strange noises in the wind. Keep up the good work, your attitude is refreshing!

So my question to you, Kyle and Greg. What is your recommendation when you have Tyvek over your OSB and you put your frost board on belt whatever you wanna call it at the bottom and you go to put Z flash on do you cut your Tyvek 1 inch up and slide your Z flash underneath and what do you do if you do, do you seal it to the substrate which is the OSB or do you not? I feel that if we did it that way you would take some zip wrap and seal it to the substrate. Would love your input. Thank you and keep the videos common. They’re awesome.

I had a building installed recently. They used a house wrap but do to lack of communication I was under the impression it was also a vapor barrier, intern, I used open sell spray foam. I’m a little worried if I put a vapor barrier on the inside of the building that they may create a moisture issue inside the walls. I am in upstate New York.
I guess my question would be as long as the house wrap is not technically a vapor barrier am I hurting anything by putting the plastic wrap on the inside?

Would you rather replace 34 inches if panel or a fill height one? It is easier to replace shorter than a whole panel after it has sustained damage from flying "shrapnel" when one mows or from debris hitting it during a wind storm. It also offers a unique aesthetic look and allows one to have a two tone look if they desire.
