radio isn’t king anymore so most industry plants with mid-at-best music and a carbon-copy image are here today and gone tomorrow. you still have to make good music to actually stick around, so all being an industry plant really amounts to is an easier way to get your foot in the door but not a golden ticket to a career.

He's also a genius marketer, his visuals do not match his songs at all and that's what's being hella talked about right now with super viral clips about it everywhere. This guy knows what he's doing for sure.
Somebody on twitter said that the voice is actually AI generated and this is all an experiement by the label to push AI artists in the future, which makes crazy sense if you think about it.

Have no idea what “industry plant” even means… If it means a musical act created by a record label, that literally use to be the entire purpose of music labels. Find, cultivate, and expose mostly young and conventionally attractive people to the masses for money..
The new normal now is people becoming massively popular by themselves and then being exploited by labels who don’t actually offer them anything but terrible loans
The point is industry plants try to hide it and act like their growth is organic. Paying for exposure under the table, hiding the fact they're signed to a corporate mega label, all the mysterious marketing and pretending this dude is underground and genuine when really their whole image and marketing strategy was drawn up and funded by some exec. There's a difference between being publicly signed to a record label and being promoted by them, and them falsely "planting" what they're pretending is an underground sensation by paying for exposure and reviews.

I listened to the Drake remix, it's actually one of Drake's more soulful perforrmances lately. He didn't just phone it in like he does for some features. That's how you can tell Drake has genuine interest in this artist, whoever he is.
one EP is low-key smart as fuck because OVO is where young artists go to die so its good he isn't stuck in some sort of situation with them because if he was it'll be the last we ever hear of him (I hope he read the fine print)

"Industry plant" is losing its meaning. Nearly every artist out right now has a "manager" behind them who basically build their public image. Unless they blow up because they go viral, they had a "manager" before anyone heard about them. And sometimes even going "viral" is manufactured by a manager. 99% of rappers today, and artists in general, had their public image built just like this. The amount of times artists had stuff exposed about them that had fans shocked should make it obvious that most of them aren't who we think they are, all of them have a manufactured image to some degree.
Image is all that matters in the industry, it's not about the music or the artist. They dgaf about the artist or what they wanna make, (so many stories of artists being forced to make music they don't wanna make, being trapped in contracts etc) the image is what sells so that's all the people signing these artists care about. Vince Staples wasn't lying, the industry just wants to use these artists to promote negativity.
Most rappers that people think blew up "organically" didn't, most had huge labels and major PR machines behind them like this, even the ones who don't wanna admit it...because the illusion is shattered once you know its an illusion. Just look at any artist or celeb who fell off after their public image was shattered. All the celeb industries are "closed businesses", it's a club, you have to play by their rules to get in and stay in. You can't just become a big artist in the monopoly these industry execs have built. That's like going to the hood and trying to sell your own drugs lol.
Why are the biggest artists all gangster rappers, drillers and glorified strippers? Everyone don't wanna hear that but the industry only wants to promote certain images and lifestyles so that's all we get. We've all heard at least 1 conscious rapper who should be a megastar, why aren't they? Because the industry is made up of these "plants", very few had an organic rise to fame like a lot of people believe.
