This is what happens when you're so obsessed with stacking your team with all stars instead of just developing them into good basketball players. Thank you for having common sense. If a superstar becomes available, two distant first-round picks and necessary contracts will NOT be nearly enough since other teams would be offering 3-5 firsts and good young players. The media seems to forget that.

Don't get me wrong, he's playing well than he did last year, but his shortcomings as a player who can't shoot and make bad decisions still hurting the team. Can't blame AD for taking too many jumpshots in every OT if he's facing double to triple team all the time because the opposing team are just putting their centers on russ and just sagging off of him and making it hard for every other laker to drive to the basket.
Just send the damn picks, those two picks on 2027 and 2029 have a very slim chance to be even better than LeBron and AD. Why not stop caring too much about it like it's a national treasure when ur window for winning is now.
The point is, and I share this opinion in the video, that there is no trade out there, which would move the needle strong enough, that they have a realistic chance of winning the title. So why would you give up even more of your future. Also AD cant be trusted...he is constantly injured for years now and again out for many weeks. Lebron is injury prone too and missing a lot of games, while performing worse than last year overall.

Players that are realistic trades for the Lakers, players that the Lakers are targeting Reddish, Fournier, Turner, Hield, Barnes, Gordon, Bogdanovic if the Pistons are willing to trade him, Poeltl, Richardson, and McDermott. the Lakers are not trading AD or Russ, they are going to unload Kendrick Nunn, Pat Bev, and possibly Damien Jones and JTA. 💯

Dude. Bird Rights don't work like that! Cap holds are still a thing. Assuming team and player don't pivot to using an exception. The only time the plan you described works if it's an RFA with a Qualifying Offer less than 1/3 of the rookie extension they sign. And the only time that happens if it is a team hits on a low enough first rounder (or you're Brandon Ingram.) Otherwise, cap holds always exceed the contract. Every time, without fail. It's far more likely the Lakers just want to eat Russ's EXPIRING contract.

A lot of analysts have said that not trading right now and the patience the LAL front office has is the best move. Lakers play much better than their record indicates. They beat a fully healthy Bucks team in their building. They ran out of gas against the Celtics and 76ers sadly both games to AD missing key free throws. This team, as it's built can be a 5-6 seed. The west isn't even abnormally strong right now. Since LeBron came all the superstars have migrated east. Memphis doesn't look themselves without Bane, Warriors are messy too, streaky at best. Pelicans are fun, same with the Jazz but I don't see those teams winning a 7 game series with a tougher opponent. A fully healthy Clippers are dangerous even tho they play small ball. This season will be wild.
