    Hi Andy,
    How good is SW Motech gear 👍🏍. I’ve fitted the same style pannier brackets to an XSR900. The quality and fittings are first class. The locking mechanism on the bags themselves work a treat 👍. Secure yet so easy to remove and replace.
    I couldn’t be happier with buying the SW Motech setup. Going to buy their pannier system for my GSXS1000 as well.
    Great informative video...thanks.

  • @highlandriders9696

    Very slick looking mate... I opted for Shad semi rigid panniers as SW Motech don't do a kit that specifically fits the Z800. Shame as I had a recent melting experience which looking at the angle of the mount of them on the Z900 I would have avoided.

    • @AndyManCam

      That’s annoying. Luckily it seems that these are perfectly placed to avoid the melting. Even more so with the stock can.

    Looks a good solution Andy. It’s a shame SW Motech don’t make a similar ABS moulded case like the urban, for adventure bikes, as you don’t need the cutout for the passenger foot peg.

    Hi Andy.
    I've had 8 bikes since i passed in June last year. Just couldn't find 'the bike' i wanted to keep.
    I was planning on doing some UK touring as a newer rider. So I had a f900xr, 3 weeks later it was sold. Didn't like it.
    Then a Tiger 900 GT Pro. Didn't like it. The latest bike is a 1200GSA, a good bike, but way too heavy, expensive to insure £1650 for me, servicing is ridiculously expensive.
    I've come to the conclusion that you don't need big expensive adventure bikes to tour.. yes, it helps, but when you then want some fun, it can be a little lack luster. Other than a 1290Suoer adventure or V4S multidtrada.
    So, i test road a CB1000R 2018 in the red and loved it, i think after riding the GSA and then that it was bound to put a smile on my face.
    So, i think im going to completely switch from the big adventure bike to the cb1000r. I dont ride through the harsh winter, but i do ride on rainy days. That doesn't bother me.
    Im just wondering, other than the panniers, have you got any other recommendations on accessories that may help aid for touring?

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      An Atlas Throttlelock is a very welcome addition. Heated grips were also an absolute must!
      Though I’ve now got an Aprilia Tuareg 660. Definitely agree with your feelings about not needing a massive adventurer. The Tuareg is big, but it’s light and I honestly don’t ride any slower, despite having 70hp less!

    Great video well done. Looking at getting these for my 2015 KTM 1290 Super R. Retirement is soon and plan to use mine for long day trips and to carry my rain gear on one side and put my textile jacket in the other when it warms up during the latter part of mornings in the spring time here in South Carolina. Have you put a jacket in one? I know they are kind of small but that is why I like them but need them to handle a textile jacket when needed. Thanks Mike

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'll have to get back to you on that one. Although it also depends on how big your back protector is too. I sometimes wear a jacket without armour and have the Knox armoured shirt underneath. in that case, there would be no problem fitting a textile jacket in there.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Tom. I haven't, but to be honest I think it might be a little tough. I've tried sitting on the back myself and there's definitely not enough room for my size 11's. Maybe somebody with pixie feet might be able to manage it.

    For me, and I may just be unfortunate, but zips on panniers are just waiting to fail. Yamaha (tracer) did semi soft zip and then brought out hard cases. Racks look good though, and nice vid.

    • @AndyManCam
      @AndyManCam  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I know what you mean. They're collecting all the road mess. I find that you just have to clean and lube them once in a while. there is even zip care stuff available. but I find a little squizz of WD40 does the trick!

    • @douglasalexander4348
      @douglasalexander4348 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@AndyManCam Try not to use WD, it’s petroleum based and not kind to plastic, it can make it brittle. Silicone spray is the way to go, and stays/lasts longer on zip and is great for anything plastic or rubber. It seems to revitalise rubber o rings as well. Doesn’t smell as manly though....

      I tend to use the elastic straps on the outside half to hold the waterproof bag in place. That way, when i open the cases all the luggage falls out of the way of the locks. Plus i can then wedge waterproofs, spare gloves, water or whatever between the waterproof bag and the inside half of the Case.

Having to undo it is the small compromise that comes with such a simple setup. If the bag had a locking mechanism on the outside, it would be heavier, more complicated, more expensive and the lock/mechanism would be able to collect all the road grime.
