I can't remember who it was specifically, but I recall watching a vanlifer who actually put a couple of small security cameras (wired) on top of his van. I think he had one in front and one in back. He could easily log in with his cellphone and check out who/what might be lurking around his parking spot. I've been pondering doing some van or RV traveling at some point and I would definitely use that idea myself! I really enjoy your channel! You have a lot of natural filmmaking talent and your own unique voice. I hope you stick around! You deserve more subscribers and I'm sure you'll get them :-)
This comment is truly so sweet. I’ve seen some vanlifers with security cameras and think it’s such an awesome idea. Hopefully someday in the future! I am so excited to continue forming this wonderful community in this online space, and thank you for deciding to join in that ☺️!
Hey Maddie, it was difficult to hear you at times over the music, but that was more than made up for by your charming personality. Your respect for nature is very admirable. Was so nice of you to share your water with the elk. Although as a general rule, we are all told not to feed the wildlife, we also have something called a heart. You listened to yours and gave the thirsty creature some water. May the blessing come back to you a hundred fold. Peace and safety to you and Eliza..
I installed very bright sensor lights on both sides of my van which have a 4 mtr radius, so hopefully it will deter any intruders, they would not know if there was a camera watching as well. I can also switch them off when not needed. Keep safe Maddie, happy trails.
Just discovered your channel…..am watching all videos, in order. Really enjoying the views (broad definition) you are sharing……. The horizon your were driving into at the end of this was stunning!
I'm really enjoying your videos, Maddie, and your keen skills and observations. I especially want to thank you for your comments on plant collecting protocols. I work for an open space park agency in the Santa Cruz Mtns, CA. It's amazing how many people have no concept about that. Thanks again!
I miss the park so much. So much memories! Thank you for this vlog☺️ even the elks hahahaha had so much encounters with them when I was working there 😅😅
There must be a camera setup you could mount on top of the van with a few cameras with motion detection so you could see if anyone is approaching the van. Burning sage is such a wonderful smell. Does Eliza react to it? One of our dogs seems to react like a cat does to catnip.
Nah, I think just cleaning it with some bleach should have done the trick, cleaning your hose. I’m excited to find sagebrush on our travels, so I van also make those little dried bundles 🥰
Had to frighten the elk away? That’s THEIR home girl ♥️ They aren’t going to attack you! Disappointed that you did this and went on about bleaching/ burning the hose they drank from…..they are probably cleaner than you are at this point. Still love you.
Hi there! I actually didn’t scare them away! Quite the contrary- I let them drink from my personal hose and only bleached it once I had left! These particular elk had obviously become very comfortable approaching humans, but just to let you know, its dangerous for animals to become too familiar or comfortable around humans (they can get run over or poisoned by eating human food), so never approach wildlife in national parks! Take care!
Maddy just wondering about cabinets and the ornate woodwork on the one cabinet driver side of your cabin it’s fabulously done and just wondering if you did it yourself or perhaps maybe your big brother did it for you. Fairly watcher just found you. Going back to your videos from two years ago. I see you did most your van built but that one cabinet door or wall hanging didn’t see you build. Thanks for the info in advance.
Original dawn dish soap n hydren peroxide equal parts. Want be harmful to u or the environment, n he's probably safer to drink after verses any humans right now..lol 😉 😜 omgosh can't thank u enough for what u r doing...im on Hospice n u inspire me to say eff it a buy a motor home, van camper whatever n take off. Thank u for sharing such a wonderful experience...im only on my 3rd one want to keep watching. Hope u so us ur cooking too. 😃 😊 😀 😄 😁
I hope you're armed. You're a young single attractive female in a van on her own accompanied by a single dog whose life you also don't want to endanger. You need to be able and prepared to protect yourself and Eliza. Love your Grand Canyon footage. You really are skilled at this! Making friends with elk I see. You're popular with the herd! I do t think you approached the elk but they approached you. I'm very happy you're cognizant of the needs of the ecosystem so as not to collect plants whenever you want. I like your ecological awareness.
Excuse me, Maddie Taylor. I had the pleasure of listening to you, over 40 films you make. Would you , please, be kind enough to listen to me, just once? I say it with care. Van life is a personal security hazard. Especially in a country where everyone can own a firearm. Especially in a country with high crime rates. A lone woman , in an isolated remote place, makes a perfect target for perpetrators. Please, i beg you, consider carrying a concealed firearm, and make sure you are very proficient with it.

Thank you so much for this feedback and for the very kind words! 🥲 I’ll work hard to fix the the sound in the newer videos!

So cool. Thank you for including the message about harvesting or collecting responsibly (and legally of course).
You are a breath of fresh air. So happy to have found you. Thanks for taking us on this journey with you.

Beautiful! I feel so lucky to have one of those sage bundles, and I love how you emphasize awareness of preserving the ecological habitats you visit!
Love you to the moon and back Hannah :)
Very good advice Maddie. This is nature. We must preserve it.
Your van looks soo cozy but omg I’d be so freaked out hearing footsteps in the middle of the night 😵💫
I love your channel, and You!
I think music is a bit loud when you talk, it kinda overpowers your voice. Thought I'd let you know.
Thank you for the feedback!!!
Thanks!

Oh my gosh so scary! Glad you're armed and have great common sense :) Be safe and enjoy!
Happy Trails, My Dear..............
Magical!
classic bigfoot footsteps lol
Haha, "Do I burn it, do I need to buy a new hose?" Yes, and Yes!
😂

Love it!
How are you Maddie. Your place is awesome. Good.
I enjoyed watching your video
Thank you, Maurice!

Nah. With all the Covid spreading to deer populations throughout the country it’s better safe than sorry, bleach was probably a good call.

Hi there! Did it myself :)
Hi MT.. suggestion why don't you get a portable heater?
Hi Taz! I’ll consider it for winter, for now we haven’t ever felt too cold!
Do you have motion sensor lights on outside/perimeter of van for safety. Also backup cámara that you can record any activity in back
I wish! Hoping to install one day 🤞
Vanlife- I think you have to get somewhat used to a few extra bacteria, and some additional wildlife.

Could haveeasily been someone wondering whythere is a van and see if they need help.
Maddie, your background music is so loud that it's hard to hear your voice.
Maybe it was a big foot
Coulda been a deer....
