To become an interpreter, you typically need to follow these steps: First, attain a high level of proficiency in at least two languages, including your native language and a second language you wish to interpret. Next, acquire formal training in interpretation through a degree or certification program. This could be a bachelor's or master's degree in interpretation or a related field. Gain practical experience through internships or entry-level positions, honing your skills in various interpreting settings like legal, medical, or conference interpretation. Finally, seek certification from a recognized professional organization, such as the American Translators Association (ATA) in the United States, to enhance your credibility and job prospects as an interpreter. Continuous learning and practice are essential in this profession to maintain and improve your language and interpretation skills. Thanks, Connecting Cultures Healthcare Interpreters!

I don’t know if you’ll ever see this comment but every day I think what am I good at and I always forget I speak Spanish so I was curious because I’m not 100% fluent if I should take a few classes whether an associates degree level or a bachelors degree level and how would I be able to get into the field do I need an actual degree?

Hey girl!! Im an interpreter for Spanish and let me tell you that i don’t have any degree in interpretation or Spanish either lol I work from home right now in a call center type of job, but it really is a super cool and rewarding job! all the experience you get from this job in many different fields and the pay is good also! You can go on indeed or any job seeking websites and look for interpreter jobs! Many companies don’t require experience interpreting or degrees and provide all the training. However, I will say there is a test that i believe every single company makes you take before hiring you, were they will ask you detailed questions in Spanish to make sure you are fluent. Another tip, study medical, legal, and customer service terminology in both Spanish and English as that will be the main topic in your sessions once you start interpreting, trust me it will benefit you so much to study on your own! I absolutely love this job and I hope you will too! Best wishes 💛

@@Mrmejuice ofc! U can maybe give them a call you can work from 🏡 if there is not a cite close to you. I used to work for CyraCom International. They provide the training, its amazing. I also know of Language Line Solutions and Language Services Associates (LSA). But idk if they provide training, its better if you ask them before you take the test. Best of luck!
