I agree with Kelly's comment that a wealth of online information is encouraging the interpreters to editorialize by simplifying the message, which is unacceptable, and I was glad to come across your video because it presents a much better, ethics-driven approach.
Bravo! I'm an interpreter trainer and pushed for us to include pediatric interpreting in our introduction to medical interpreting curriculum. Yes, it is different, but everything you've said here is so true. I'm definitely going to share this video with my classes moving forward. While preparing the course, I was dismayed at many of the sources I was finding encouraging interpreters to simplify the message. Your explanation of why we shouldn't do this is SPOT on.
