How does product manager earn more than software engineer. If the software engineer is stuck on a level and product manager is in a Sr. Position that makes sense but if they both grow equally software engineer should make at least the same amount

I think growth is defined & gained much differently for the roles, though. Personally, I apply for PM & SE positions and always find the PM positions will pay more but are way more competitive to get and require a lot more "risk-taking initiative" & "prioritization skills". Which is a nice way to say there is often not real structure or success metrics from employers so you have to be the one deciding what projects to do, how to do them, the timeframe, and how important they are; But, you have to be the one to prove QUICKLY that your work is valuable & necessary to the company, or you're out. In my experience, every person on the team has to heavily specialize in something nobody else knows. You are basically gambling on projects, using your work time as cash and, if the project doesn't succeed, neither do you. If you execute a bunch of high risk, high reward projects quickly, you can grow & make more money quickly, too.
Strictly tech roles always expected much more time commitment bc every team was so undermanned + we had to keep learning SO much after work in order to keep up with the fast-growing industry. However, we had a straightforward vibe of "Do this exact work & achieve this goal. How well you do = how hard/long you work" and "how much tech stuff you know + how well you work = how much you earn". It was demoralizing to have so little freedom & usually felt a bit like the rest of the company was against us. But, sometimes I preferred the constant overworking of tech to the constant fear of PM bc of the growth gamble.
For context: That's only my experience & heavily affected by having specialties itin both, though. SE & PM roles require you to build completely different hard & soft skills, yet they rely on each other so much that there was a constant blocker between us. So, anyone who might be able to understand both sides is considered higher value. My mediocre tech background & unfinished tech degree from a shitty university allowed me to get business jobs over Ivy League business grads. The skills & business understanding I bring to tech roles make my work much more valuable than most of my peers even though most of my tech skills are weaker than theirs.
