Underground, underground, underground. We all stay underground. Well not this one.
An elusive proshot counting crows show, this DVD captures the band after their #1
billboard release of “Recovering The Satellites”, their second album. This is from
the days when Duritz was at his rockin’ best, Matt still had long hair and the boys
were still a “rock” band. Recorded at the Blockbuster Pavillion in Devore, CA, Duritz
muses that they are so close to home, and how all his friends have attended the show
specially. He comments that it is “almost like home”, and how after around a year of
touring, he’s ready to do just that - go home. The band are at their absolute sharpest
here, with Dan and Dave B particularly sharp on guitars (remember when Bryson used to
play solo’s??!!). Charlie is in the zone the whole gig, and Matt just does what Matt
does, he kills it. Ben on drums is a great reminder of the driving force that bought
the band from “August” to “Recovering” at the beat of a drum.
The video itself is completely proshot. It is the entire gig, and also includes “A Murder
of One” which has not previously circulated as audio. Part of this video (notably, “Raining
In Baltimore”) has been available for download from annabegins.com and gives special thanks
to “raindv” and “ehud lazine”. I did not get this video from either of these people, but if
they filmed/acquired it somehow, then I do, of course, give them their dues. There are some
parts in the show where the video seems to “speed up”, however nothing ever seems to go
outta sync.
9 years after this was recorded, it has surfaced. A good reminder of how persistent traders
who are not part of “the inner circle” or part of “the underground” can still come up with the goods………..
I guess these shows can’t stay underground forever………

Adam Duritz is BEAUTIFUL. He is such a poet and a brilliant frontman. But I really miss the days where you could get right up against the stage.
I just pulled out this album and wow… great songs great great great great poetic lyrics. Prob some of the best ever for 90s bands in my opinion.
Godbless all the people who record these shows for posterity and present them to fans. I’ve been a fan since I was 11; I’m 37 now, and during that whole time I’ve seen counting crows 9 times, met the band once, and met Adam Duritz 3 times. The guys are great people and Adam, well I’d describe him as an incredibly shy gentleman. Again, thanks for this amazing footage.
So lucky. I've been a fan since I was 13. Im 40..have seen them only once. Woulda loved to meet 5hem all especially Adam. Even have seen them more than once. Maybe its not too late
It’s never too late :)
Timeless music. Thanks for posting.
I, luckily was able to see these guys in 1994 and 97 in Atlanta. Some of my favorite memories, if someone can memorialize the soundtrack of depression. These guys really carried me through dark times. Ty for posting this
Really Appreciate the detailed show description.. I don’t get the underground thing, true fan here only getting access to limited video 20yrs later. (Sigh)
Thanks for posting this, it brought back so many memories. I saw CC’s on this tour in London at Shepherds Bush Empire… To this day it’s one of my favourite gigs of all time. I’ve seen them on every tour since. They’ve been the soundtrack to my life.
God bless all the people who recorded all CC performances ever.
Saw this show at The Beacon in NY. wonderful
I saw that tour at the NAC in Ottawa. I discovered Cake that night. Thank you Counting Crows.
Love the acoustic version of Mr. Jones. Love this it was awesome. I wish I could have seen this tour live.
Here here they have always been amazing but this time was when they were at their peak as a band for me anyway
First, thanks for posting the show. I did not see them this earlier, damn wish i did. I got to seethe them about 15 times however, the medicine show with notar and augustana. 🤔 not sure spelling, what ever show was a killer
Absolutely brilliant concert.
Great performances of all the songs, but, if I was to pick favourites, I especially love that run of Mercury, Mr. Jones, Omaha. I love Charlie on the Accordion and I actually prefer that version of Mr Jones to the more rocky original.
I've been watching loads of these Counting Crows gigs on TH-cam, and a huge thanks to all those who put them on here. 😀
I'm jus a girl who fell in love with this man in '93 '94 🖤
Brilliant.
Thanks for posting this.
So cool.Thanks4sharing
Raining in Baltimore...great great tune!!!

Hoje 14 de janeiro de 2022 iria tirar a minha vida! Obrigada veveka! Por não deixar hoje! Mas amanhã... não sei!!
Amo essa banda!!!
Great Concert! "Timestamp" the track list on this bad boy!
thanks
Look at these guys rocking the in-ears in '97. Ha!
They shine on Rain King
Met adam in hershey on this tour....
Rocking video! One thing to suggest . . ."Timestamp" the set list to enable quick jump to track while viewing on youtube mobile/smart device app.
You are free to do so and add a comment. :)
@@cmigliaccioi would but i think that would require youtube studio access to your description.
Its fairly easy. There are youtube tutorials as well.
@@wildwillybilly People can post lists of timestamps in the comments. (I believe people have already done it on some of my videos.)
I built most of this channel before I had a child and have a much more demanding job than I used to. I really just wanted to share what was in my archive. I derive literally nothing from this channel other than the joy of knowing people have access to as much of a great band's video archive as TH-cam rights permissions will allow. (I've also helped build a very large database of their audio recordings, which you can find at CrowsTown.) It will probably be a long time before I get to adding anything to the videos. Although I should probably see if there's anything lurking on discs that's not up here yet.
Its definitely a nice share!

He's so fineeeee in this video. But His lyrics make him so much more beautiful inside then he is even on exterior. Looks fade but personality is everylasting. Such sentimental guy..i love the vocabulary he chooses it so so eloquently but realistically. I hope he finds his forever.. But I think he already experienced his soul mate. I believe he truly loved Maria and compares all his girlfriends to her. I may be wrong. Theres no way to be certain. But I just like to think of Maria being the one because its cliche. I wish I could find a guy that had his genuineness. But I heard a lady say once you meet a guy that shows emotions and communicates feelings like this you can't go back to a guy who doesn't have it. So hopefully I'll meet a sentimental dude like that. I hate cheezy sentimental though so it's gotta be realistic which is even scarce.
how did we come up with 9 for audio? Video-9 Audio-6(mono and crunchy) band-1500000000000000000000!!! great show!!
Wiseblood was a really nice surprise. 1:21:59
the only white guy that could pull off dreads
as a white guy, we're stilling 0-for-civilization
Most people I know like Counting Crows but they think he sounds obnoxious live. Take Anna Begins.. The CD version his voice flows along with the music like its another instrument in the band. The live version sounds completely disconnected from the music at times. Makes me wonder how the orginal cd version ever got made.
Listen to the record then boss
The reason that Counting Crows is such a great band is because when you go to a live show, no matter how many you have been too they are never the same. That makes it interesting. It makes them extremely different and talented. The cd got made how it was for the day. Some versions people like and some they don't.
Omaha 😍
From a clown who survived, to all the cowboys and gals who didn't....
♥)
where was Immy for this show ??
He wasn't yet a member of the band full-time, he joined permanently in 1999.
@@cmigliaccio thanks - brain fade !!
Vickrey playing slide on Goodnight Elisabeth
John Grohs bryson doing solos
it's very rare to find these live shows.
MATT MALLEY!!!!!
Worst live version of satellites I've ever heard. Cat in a blender anyone?
