Bringing back memories of my grandmother in Jaffna. As a kid I watched her make every meal from scratch just like this lady in a wood stove. My aunt prepped the ingredients using stone grinder and coconut scraper.
Amazing !!!!! All the measurements and timing are in her head! Open fire, clay pots, fresh ingredients, no annoying music or chattering, and no waste…and best of all the chopping and scraping all by one person….just like a dream. How extraordinary and soothing to watch this! A true feast for the Gods.

Curry leaves, cumin seeds, cardamon seeds , red dry chilli , green chilli , chilli powder , turmeric , fenugreek seeds , coconut milk and the pulp , red lentils , long grain rice , cassava ( the long brown at the end) , garlic , shallots , potatoes , string beans ❤
