@@EquineMetalheadmate 2020 nearly killed me literally and metallica is what i started listening to on a daily bases and it made me feel happy i have now been listening to them non stop for 3 years and am happy to call myself a part of the metallica family
I think y'all are missing the point of this comment. graeme1744 is saying that James needs people around him that are his friends not because he is the frontman to one of the biggest metal bands in the world, but because he's just a cool guy and they enjoy one anothers company.
This is very true. Most of James' close friends are either people he's known for years (before Metallica was huge) or folks that he's become close to through mutual hobbies (specifically other hunters/target shooters and outdoorsmen). I have a few pretty famous friends, and while we work in the same industries (film and music), that isn't why we are close friends. Music/film is work for us, but we are close for other reasons like our kids and families know each other, we have similar interests and hobbies (outside of work), same faith, and are just real with each other, even to the point of calling each other out when needed. Whether our careers ended tomorrow or became bigger than ever, we're friends for life, and are going to celebrate the victories together and be there through the losses as well. For example, a couple friends of mine that are in a huge band were some of the first to call me, message, send encouraging notes, and then follow-up regularly after my wife and I lost our son in 2019 (he was born alive, but too early to survive... he was with us for 22 bittersweet minutes). Another friend who owns a big label is one of the only people other than family that sends me a message _every single year_ wishing our son a "Happy Birthday" on the day he was born. He always remembers him, which means the world to my wife and I, and that is a testament to how our friendship goes beyond business and work. These guys have been there through it all, hoping and praying for us... and now we have a beautiful little newborn daughter, whom they equally celebrate with us, ask for updates and new baby pics, etc, and I do the same with them. Honestly, sometimes it feels like we're a bunch of "Facebook Moms" sending baby stuff back and forth. lol I remember once last year we were talking about taking the kids out for ice cream cones in the summer just before this friend was about to step on stage for a stadium show. That didn't even hit me until just now as I was thinking back on it. Haha When I think about stuff like that it feels a bit surreal because I honestly forget about their "fame" and it feels so far removed from who they are as a person, because that isn't who they are to me... they are the person I've known for years... laughed with, cried with, been silly or embarrassing with... and their notoriety is just what they happen do for a job. It's hard to explain. I'm certain that James has similar relationships with his circle of friends and family as well. ;)
Such a humble man considering how amazing he is. Definitely a honor to have James Light your cigar for you then watch him become the greatest front man of all time. What I also think is incredible to see is the last few minutes before showtime is James morphing into his stage persona. Bought Floor tickets to Metallica in Vancouver Canada for St anger tour about 4 songs into setlist when this hand just appeared to the right of me gripping the metal barrier turned around to see a terrified women in her 30’s she was in the pit against her will I took her hand in mine gave her a mean look like this is my spot go somewhere else JK I guided her to safety by my side for remainder of show. That women is now my wife.😊 I believe that was fate just another way Metallica changed my life.

The legend himself. I first seen him in 1988 at the cow palace and Justice. He looked at me with these f****** shark. Eyes change my life. I never stopped playing since then. I have everything Metallica's ever done. I'm 53 now. I think I was 18. They're legends to me and I got James. The same guitar to ESp custom with his pick ups. in it het set.
Grazie Mille James Hetfield per ricordare Ennio Morricone prima dei vostri concerti. Grazie Metallica! Per favore non dimenticate questo capolavoro! See you in Milan!

I honestly think when you become this big, you really need normal friends around you who really love you for who you are, and not the super star.
Wtf? He IS super star, this is who he is! 😅
@@user70331 you know who he is. When you played to as many people around the world, you are a super star.
