I know this is an old video but I would like to thank you Dan for helping me draw better and understand more about perspective drawing, I am going to continue watching the whole playlist of perspective drawing because this helps me to become a more efficient engineer doing drawings like these. I had learned about perspective drawing before but could not get it down because I lack the art skills and being able to see and visualize what I'm trying to create, I still do lack the artistic skills but that's not the point. LOL. Anyways thank you for helping me understand better about perspective and continuing to do so throughout this playlist.
i’m 13 and i’ve been drawing since i was 2. i use pencil as a common medium and i really like your tutorial videos and the way you structure your videos, thank you for the helpful advice!!
Holy crap, you guys are so young. I didn't stumble on this video and technique till now. I'm 24, you guys should definitely take advantage of this, and if you do your skills will and could be professional with enough practice.
Very eye-opening! Great tips I hadn't heard before but make complete sense. And thank you for creating this thorough series in small bites. I have a book on perspective, but taking the time to read it... well. Thanks again!
I agree, very easy on the ears. I have watched about 20 videos today so far. I just started drawing last year. I am 37. I do more portraits but with some tracing of outlines. I also draw very realistic eyes. I love drawing eyes in all perspectives.
8/29/2019 USA Grandpa Bill: Dan, I think this is the best video you have done to date with greatly enhanced quality. Superior draftsmanship. You might want to adjust your voice a little. Thank you.
Yeah his voice bugs me. Sounds like he is reading a script while being otherwise occupied with watching something out his window. The flatness makes it hard to understand.
Huh, I've never thought to use that method to construct shapes converging to a vanishing point. (or seen anyone use them, tbh) It's a pretty great tip to know and use ^^'
I saw this technique in my art book, but i didn't quite understand how it works. Thank you for explaining this technique! Now i won't have to guess anymore
question on 3:44 : is it possible to construct an equal lengthed 3D cube given ONLY 1 facade? like if you drew one face of a cube, can you construct other faces based off of that alone, without letting your inuition flow in?
I don't know if anyone would respond to this but I'm working digitally and I don't think the rulers in the software I use have even spacing. Is there a way I can ensure the line at ~5:06 is evenly spaced like seen here?
The way I do it is i made my own. I made a file of a small size say 400by 400 pixels. Then I draw a slope at the edge to make a point. Then I make a duplicate file with that image. Medibang always pastes images in the top left so i increase the canvas size by the size of the original image with the point, and paste a copy of that image. I do that until i have the divisions I want. Then i just copy the image and paste it where im working and scale and rotate it to fit what i need being careful to scale diagonally so porportions are intact.
Does it work if the vp for dividing the rectangle is inside the plane you are drawing when you draw from the parallel to the corner of you perspective plane?
There's another way to divide in even parts, instead of drawing another line to put your points on, you can put your five points on one of the edges, draw the perspective lines that follow the perspective. Then you draw the diagonal line and where it crosses is where your divisions are.
I’m so confused as to why when you drew the building at the end you used a different vanishing point from the one you divided into fifths with to create the side of the building? Wouldn’t this skew the perspective?
I have a question, Let's say I have a rectangle/cube in perspective and I want to duplicate that rectangle/cube but with a gap between the rectangles/cubes that is not the same size as the original one how will I able to do that? For example, I drew a house or a cube in perspective, let's say I want to duplicate the size of this house or cube but between them there is a gap which in this case, a road for example. Idk if this makes sense but if you do understand and there is a way please let me know 😔😔

I'm 16 and this blew my mind to the point that my brain labeled this video "The most mind blowing thing I've seen so far"

Another great video. Thank you for explaining this in such a way that someone (like me) with no art instruction can understand and use!

The background music and your voice tone has put me into a deep trance like meditative state accidentally
HOLY CRAP THIS IS THE HOLY GRAIL OF PERSPECTIVE DRAWING TUTORIALS
Mind blown! I love watching your videos. Makes me happy. 😊

I really like how you build on the examples for us. Thank you for that.
Binge watching your tutorial on Perspective Drawing for about an hour. Suddenly, you're my favourite TH-camr ❤️
Wow! You are blowing my mind with these techniques! And you explain them in such an easy to understand & concise way! Thank you :D

04:39 all this time, wondering... and was so simplw
but how does it work?? That helper line is not parallel to the line i wanna cut in 5 pieces
Love your method of dividing into 5
Thank you so much for creating these! I'm currently working through Scott Robertson's book and these video are really helping me understand it!
This is so helpfull ! Thanks a lot for this series
Excellent videos. Thanks a lot for putting these out there!
THIS. WAS. VERY. HELPFUL!!!
wonderful guide dude, keep it up , im going to use your guide for my 2Dmovies creation
This was super helpful!

Loving this series! Thanks so much for putting these videos out there!
I can't afford art school so I'm binge watching your videos instead! Really helpful 😭💯
Do yo by any chance have anything on "unreachable vanishing points "? Thanx, great tutorials, I'm a big fan!

bro thank you so much, that is sop brilliant

Perspective techniques looks like something will give you more control on the space, I didn`t the Division yet.
Ty this really helps me
Really great tutorial. What music is that in the background?
Resonance- HOME. It’s one of the most popular songs in the synth-wave/ chill-wave genres.
@@franzdelasieste6914 Awesome, thanks for the info. Much appreciated.

that dividing odd amounts technique blew my mind tbh. No sarcasm.
thankyou soo much sir!!!
THANK YOU UR VIDEO HELPED
Earned a sub.
thank you so much
So does this only work with rectangles or it can work with other shapes too ?
Great thank you 😊

Dear Dan, Could you tell me where are the support tutorials to download?
Hi. Been looking at the Patreon page. Anyone know if he has any tutorials on texturing and detail work?
I love
I LOVE
Thanks

Wowww!!!!!
Professor. Dan
Just when my art teacher is making us draw from perspective. 😂😂

5:07 wait, what? Is it legal? O_O
The way you are moving scale kinda scaring me😅 I've upcoming exam in which we aren't allowed to use geometrical instruments...🙄
