  • In this episode we go through the basics of perspective, a topic often dry and overcomplicated. We will share some simple tricks and fun exercises that will allow you to freehand sketch in two-point perspective!
    *Homework to do following this Episode:
    - Fill up an A4 paper with 10 different shapes.
    - Add a center line for each shape.
    - Add a contour line for each shape.
    - design a subject for each shape.
    * Practice this every day.

    Ooh great tip, it bugged me so much that my VP's make randomly tilted horison and even drawing a simple cube sometimes gave an unpredictable results.
    P.S. You already know this but pls balance audio so that all the noise sources has the same range, both your voices and those extra sound effects.
    Even with bad mike you can do this through filters (i think it's called "Compressor" or smth), good luck! Looking forward for new videos!

    Really interesting approach. But in this case, let me ask you candidly : why don't we start by drawing the horizon line? Wouldn't it make it much easier then to draw all the perspectives lines of the subject? Surely, I have one or two ideas why this would be wrong or impractical, but I am not sure about it. If anyone can explain me. Thanks

      I think of it like how KJG did. Simply eyeball it and keep track of the eye level. The first line you make already locks the eye level down. Just draw around it. It’s way more fun that way without worrying about too much technical parts

    I think one of my perspective struggles is spheres, or rounded forms, I have some trouble to make them look in perspective. Putting objects together can be a trouble, but I think in my case is a more a proportion problem than perspective 😂

    Great tip! And what happens when we need to scale an object or character in a space? Sometimes I feel my character or my object is too big or too small in an environment. Do you have any advice to measure or scale correctly when we work with a perspective? An example can be very helpful, I saw concepts with an "eye bird" perspective, but I don't know how to do that. Thanks a lot!

    Suggestion: While you are explaining something, the background music makes it hard to focus on what you are saying so either you can remove the sound or lower its volume.

    • @danielsmithiv1279
      @danielsmithiv1279 ปีที่แล้ว

      Lowering it is better, but we needed that music as it was whimsically beautiful, possessing futuristic vibes with a classical 90's retro nostalgia--like watching the rain fall through a floor-to-ceiling window of a Korean video gaming, bookstore coffee shop hybrid while Resident Evil, Ninja Turtles, Street Fighter, Baki, Yu Yu Hakusho, and Street Sharks are playing in the background TVs as fog permeates the city streets from sewer vents emitting a hazy glow.

    That was very informative. I was taught to start with an eye-line regardless of subject or 1, 2 or 3 pt. perspective. I like the idea of that drawing challenge too. I do have one technical critique and might truly just be the audio settings on my TV, but your voice over faded out several times during the segments where you had 'fail' and 'pass' sound spikes. Overall, I'll be watching.

    The video is almost informative. I think you could add a bit more information on each tip. And the cutaways in the video should match the dialogue.
    You blitzed through the topic way to fast. And the sound effects were way too loud, and they were completely unnecessary. It seems as though this video
    was more about how not to edit a video and completely drown out your topic. Tell the video editor no more sound effects. Its not a good idea to over do it.

      Try fitting curved/spherical shapes inside of cubes its like 3D sculpting, but you draw it instead.
      For people, start by placing boxes cylinders and spheres in perspective and then think of the medium details like carved or protruding shapes. Keep in mind the 3d planes which are visible im your point of view(top, bottom and/or side planes) as this will inform you how the human forms will be depicted in the scene. Leave small details for after you have figured out the main forms of the body. You can also make a blocky human in perspective to which you can add curves on top.
