    Take a shot every time I say “however”.
    The first video actually did unexpectatly really well, big thanks for the support.

    I know people don't really consider Engineer Mace a condi weapon, but it does high damage, inflicts confusion and burning, and has boon support and a daze. Pair it with off-hand pistol and Celestial gear and it becomes a wicked combo! I tried this during the betta on Scapper and Holosmith and it was a lot of fun. I think I paired it with Firearms and either Alchemy or Explosions. Tool works as well if you want the condi removal on toolbelt and toolbelt cooldown. It's the closest thing we'll get to a condi/hybrid build for Scapper. This may become my main build for my Engineer going forward.
    Holosmith will just never really be optimal outside of using the sword unless they apply the heat dynamic to the other Engi weapons so they get big bursts at high heat levels. On the flip side, Sword will never really be worth using outside of Holosmith because it relies on heat levels to reach it's full power potential. It needs to have a buff for when used outside of Holosmith.
    I really enjoy Hammer and I think it's gonna become huge for Mechanist!
    I even played around with Core Engineer with the new weapons and naturally found Mace/Pistol a great combo as well as Hammer.
    This update is going to benefit Engineers more than most other classes. It was an update Engineer really needed due to the lack of weapon choices/weapon swap.

      Mace used to be the Condi DPS Weapon of choice for a while, for certain version of Mech, but then Pistol got buffed so it's better in that role now. Some of this more of an Open World angle here, for which these are all very reasonable takes. And a lot of this is just repeating what I said...so...I suppose thanks for agreeing with me?
      Though I wouldn't say "the update Engi needed" when, besides maybe Scrapper, it's already doing incredibly well.
      Though Mace and Hammer are particularly fun Open World toys, so I can see where you're coming from.
      (Oh and Holo isn't just Sword, Condi Holo has always run dual pistol)

      cele mace scrapper does indeed sound like a considerable choice, even for raids.
      i could myself using that as an more offensive and yet still supportive and healer-esque tank for desmina and might work well with a druid pusher.
      qscrapper tank does work just as fine for desmina, but id rather have less pressure on the druid pusher and make him not that responsible for heals and boons.
      but im no fan of a druid pusher anyway XD

    • @MarenAlu
      @MarenAlu  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@avatarocing Cele Mech has a small niche and the same principle can be applied to Scrapper. However with it's lowered access to healing (by not having the mech's barrier), inherent lack of Condi Synergy beyond core Engi and lacking Might capabilities, I can't see it be anything more than a gimmick over other Cele User's like Mech, Firebrand and Herald

    Nice summary! I agree with most of your predictions here, but I think you're wrong about hammer soulbeast. Atm power SB uses pretty much only sword/axe without weapon swaping (only using longbow once for higher burst at start). Hammer is way higher dmg than the other available power weapons (except sword) so we'll probably see sword/axe & hammer SB as the meta power build for ranger. I think there were even test builds during the beta coming close to 50k dps.
    Also you said that hammer unleashed and non-unleashed skills have separate CDs on untamed, which is wrong, they all share their cooldowns.

    • @MarenAlu
      @MarenAlu  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think the old Fervent Force made me think they were on separate cooldowns, so yeah that would significantly change the prediction

  • @mishking9547
    @mishking9547 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    yeah, hoping anet gives engi dual daggers or dual axes, make the mainhand axe or dagger do some condi and the offhand axe or dagger do power, lots of problems solved

  • @mishking9547
    @mishking9547 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Going around lvl from 1-80 on thief with staff sounds very fun and then swapping to rifle for bosses/bigger foes :)
    ranger using dagger mainhand sounds strong specially for early rangers and the engi having access to mace or sword is very balanced between power and condi

    • @MarenAlu

      As far as I know you still need to be max level to unlock the new weapons on each character

    • @mishking9547
      @mishking9547 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MarenAlu I mean, we will be able to use all the current weapons on lvl 1 so i dont see why they would restrict the new ones to lvl 80

      @@mishking9547 They said you need to first unlock the weapon mastery feature, I would assume that requires max level.
      But I guess if that's account wide then maybe it's not level restricted for other characters?
      I never really considered that

    I didnt even think about quickness heal untamed as a viable thing. I was so focused on doing mainhand dagger/torch for a pure DPS condi untamed build or condi quickness. I'm also quite interested in hammer cc druid if nothing else for solo play. I don't personally care for soulbeast so I'm not sad to see it not really get any tools.

    personal test from beta, scepter was bugged on DE during the test and didnt generated any malice stacks + there is chance that u wouldnt crit with it and therefor u wouldnt get the extra malice for the m7 rotation reset. but there is defentely chance for it to work.

    At least in my regard, Daredevil with Rifle seems like it'll be NASTY for PvP.

    I will say during the beta you could individually select which version of skills on hammer you wanted to use. I don't know if it will stay on release but I hope so.

    I main thief and i'm sad about the lack of possibilities thief has. I really wish they'd rework the weapons to make it work better for other specs rather than its original one. About the axe, im not really sure, i would've liked that + another off hand weapon option since thief only has 2 off hands. A sword , maybe? Or warhorn or focus. Idk something to give thief some variety rather than running the same build over and over again, and im talking about wvw aswell. I NEED VARIETY😭

    • @MarenAlu
      @MarenAlu  ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think the lack of cross-spec synergy is the fundamental problem here. Intrinsically Deadeye alone can offer a solid amount of variety, between D/D, Rifle, P/D and (the admittedly Open World exclusive) P/P builds each playing quite different. Similarly Power-Staff and Condi-D/D Daredevil don't feel the same. That's 6 playstyles, plus 3 more variants when you include Specter (though Condi and Condi Alac basically play the same, so maybe only 2). The bigger problem is that these aren't well balanced against each other, making only a handful of them relevant at a time.
      Similarly it doesn't really matter if you get an off-hand or mainhand, because each thief weapon skill, including each dual-attack, can become the center of it's own playstyle. The important bit is that those skills have to be both powerful and unique enough to achieve that

    • @special4570

      use bow as thief and maybe double daggers but yes thief is very boring gamestyle

    • @MarenAlu
      @MarenAlu  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@special4570 Initiative tends to make spamming a single skill the way to go, making any individual thief build fairly samey pretty quickly. I can only recommend trying out Specter and the Rifle Deadeye build, as they don't suffer from this issue nearly as much.

    • @karimosss
      @karimosss ปีที่แล้ว

      @MarenAlu As you said, only some of them are relevant and the fact that each build needs a different type of expensive runes and sigil or stats combo makes it even more difficult to play, we aren't made of gold. Regarding the spamming aspect, it's much more mitigated in wvw but something that could work for every gamemode is to give each skill its purpose and make them able to combo with each other. That would bring some dimension to an otherwise flat class mechanic.

    • @MarenAlu
      @MarenAlu  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@karimosss Eh, with a bit of tinkering it's not that hard to come up with some hybridized sets and budget choices. The gear optimizer goes a long way there. Nightmare Runes + the appropriate Condi-specific duration sigil get very close to their specialized runesets for example, that's a very solveable problem to have. To incentivise using more than one (or two) weapon skills in PvE would require a ground-up rework of either all weapons or the initiative mechanic as a whole, which I don't see happening. The easiest way to replicate that would be to introduce a trait that gives you a stacking damage buff for each skill you use, but each skill can only trigger the trait once every x seconds...but that's the kind of mechanic I'd only expect to see in an Elite Spec, not a core balance update, but who knows

      If you're referring to the gems, those can take up to 72 hours to show up on your account, depending on where you live. If this is about the mount skin, you need to use a code mailed to you to receive it.
      If there are further problems turn towards Support, rather than posting angry comments online, they've been very good at helping people through these things.
