I really like this guy, he just gives off such genuine vibes. I'd happily listen to him nerd about the camera for hours!
Im gonna go home and give my Fx3 some cuddles and tell it I appreciate it now
I worked with Gareth on his first show as director. Such a great guy, Very knowledgeable, so humble. Glad to see he getting places.
Gareth seems so genuine
he is such a normal guy. so normal that he wrote himself into Star Wars.
That is not the FX3 in the thumbnail
No it was the Sony EX3...that was the joke. Gareth Edwards misspoke and called it EX3 and then fixed it later saying FX3...then continued the joke saying the next one will be GX3
@@AlpacoFilms ahhhh. Gareth
@@AlpacoFilms He didn't misspeak, he was talking about what camera he used to shoot his first movie, Monsters, which was the Sony PMW-EX3.
@@LaneCarter ah I stand corrected. I apologize for that! It just sounded like a joke because he followed up with GX3. Which is an obvious joke.
@@LaneCarter at least someone is actually listening 👍
Certainly, having a camera like the Sony FX3 Cinema Line in the hands of skilled filmmakers provides a strong foundation for creating visually stunning films.
The FX3 is indeed a fantastic compact cinema camera that can produce truly outstanding results for any kind of production.
Naturally, pairing it with talented filmmakers contributed to the movie’s incredible visuals.
It’s a great example of the right tools in skilled hands.
Don't forget cine lenses that cost tens of thousands of dollars.
yeah@@Profile.4
@@Profile.4 some of the lenses used on the film were rehoused Helios 58mm lenses - those cost £50 off ebay.
Is this written by an AI?
@@nothajzl According to GPT Zero, yes
This man is giving real chills to corporate giants ARRI and RED. I mean have you really looked at the aesthetics of Creator ? Can you fathom how ground breaking this dude's decision was ?.
He probably cut down so much on the budget using it too and still caught a box office hit love it! The film looks absolutely gorgeous
the lenses they used are 50x the price of the fx3 lmao
@@RemmyMusic1lol true.
Not boring, more content like this please!!!!
It was the Sony PMW EX3 that made me turn from film to the "digital darkside". I got one in 2008. Great camera. Still have it, but I was lucky enough to be able to upgrade to the Sony FX9. Even better. Now I'm actually able to use a couple Canon still lenses that I bought 35 years ago. Perhaps I'll get an FX3 as a "B" camera. The "cheap" anamorphic lens options we're spoiled with today are also great. I have the Sirui 50mm 1.6x squeeze lens. Incredible for the price.
The man who should have directed the entire sequel trilogy.
Original filmmakers being tied to tired franchises is not good. He's creating original ideas which is better than any sequel.
**immediately googles "Sony GX3"**
he said "boring for many people"...? not at all 😅come on, many filmmakers want to know that... would like to know more details, how they set the sony....❤
"The Frame Voyager" has an epic breakdown of how they made the film and the setup, very fun watch.
@@markvisser7208hey, thank you
That's what I tried to say to him! 🤣
Yeah filmmakers would find it fun. Not regular average joe.
And it definitely paid off. Beautiful picture
Boring? I could listen to him simping for the FX3 for hours straight lol.
I swear so many people are bashing the sony a7siii fx3 colour science but here he seems to love it?!? 😢
I mean the final movie does seem to have weird colors and be a bit overprocessed at first glance, but I‘ll wait till I have seen it in cinema.
Haters be haters I’m afraid
@@kidcoma1340watched it on the massivest IMAX screen in the UK & it was awesome, no colour issues or over processing.
@@kidcoma1340 The question becomes, would you have known the movie was shot using an FX-3, would you have known or even cared? What if it was shot with the FX-30 in parts? Would that blow your mind? I feel/think/guess we are at a crossroads where the small inexpensive cameras will be used more to keep cost down while maintaining quality?
What is good is that our youngsters who have the movie making bug will find there are a many inexpensive cameras, like the Sony ZV-E10, available at their finger tips. These kids can overcome the bloated Hollywood image, filled with crybabies with no talent. We need new blood to create exciting movies that are not remakes, and these kids with their FX-30s, ZV-E10s, Fujis, Canons will surprise us. This movie is a testament one needs not spend money like it there is no end to make an engrossing movie.
@@soocmedia Oh please, it's just a technical and artistic discussion like many others.
25k lens, expert colour grading, with this you could make any rival camera look just as good
My $500 lenses on this camera look pretty incredible. It looks like a movie with me barely trying.
tell me, tell me more about FX3!! 🧡🧡🧡🧡
would be really cool if sony managed to make a 65mm digital camera
Great marketing, apparently all the other productions have super human gimbal operators who can use ARRI on gimbal.
You can use an Arri on a gimbal, but your arm muscles and back will know about it…
I love my FX3
Awesome!💯😂
CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN WHAT CAMERA HES TALKING ABOUT I CAN ONLY FIND A 3K SMALL CAMERA
If you have arguably the best DP in the world shooting your film, you too can use a mid camera and shoot gold. Don't be fooled by equipment.
Meanwhile all these youtubers saying Sony colors are bad...🤣
😆
Back then. They fixed that quite a while ago in the A7iii I think.
GX3 is next.
That cinema lens on the FX3 was the p+s technik worth about 20k HAHAHA
they used atlas and kowa mate
Not sure what he used, but P+S is rehousing Kowa’s. Maybe this Info helps as well ;) :)
He used Altas anamorphic and p+s technik. I worked on the creator as well.
@@MrThedirectr How was it working on what is such an amazing film just saw it and it's beautiful hopefully the word of mouth will help at the box office
@@collaborativekiwistudios1191ditto would love it know too:).
An entire big budget studio movie on a camera that's the size of an old school 35mm tourist camera?
why is the thumbnail cam not an fx3?
You know he slipped up and is already using a GX3
Did he just inadvertently leak the successor to the fx3? Sony gx3?
I thought so for a second too, but it's just a joke about alphabetical order. He shot monsters on the EX3, which the FX3 is not a successor too. The successor to the FX3 with almost certainly be an A7SIV-based FX4.
it's an alphabetical order joke haha
Yes our man Gareth was making a hot alphabet joke. I cant wait for the HX3 and IX3 either.
You heard it here first! 🤣
Lol that is the first time I hear someone praising sony skintones, also that 12800 ISO is full of internal noise reduction it looks like a watercolor painting (if you shoot internally, I know they recorded externally).
12800 looks fine, ive shot in abysmal lighting conditions with the fx3 and it looks great
Finally, One person who understands. First of all, he may like Sony skin tones but Sony Venice is way more superior then FX3 in color science. And 12800 ISO performance is not the reason to use a camera on 80m dollar movie. They have plenty of lights.
@@dathofilmsThey actually didnt have that much light. Almost all scenes were shot on location with a light rig that was basically held like the boom microphone. So the scene at the beach was pretty much only lit with moonlight.
Да сейчас все равно на что снимать , любая современная камера снимает отлично .
Sony GX3?
GX3 XD
What lens was he using?
More than you can afford, pal. A Ferrari.
Meanwhile, jubilant scenes in streets of tokyo. Sony, is hailed as god
Ex3 actually the best camera sony ever made
I dont understand the hype, don't get me wrong the special fx are very very good but some scenes show the drawback and limitations of using such limited capability camera as the sony fx3, actually some scene footage seems to be more like indie to me to be honest and the compression artifacts really show, he did an amazing job on using this camera in low light situations but that was it in my opinion.
Man, I've just gotta critique this. Sony looks NOTHING like Kodak film stock. Think Fujifilm instead. Sony color science is NOT great on skin tones. There is no warmth, faces look jaundiced, and you can only color correct this so far. Venice is the only thing that really addresses Sony issues with yellow and magenta, and it STILL doesn't look ANYTHING like ARRI / Kodak.
Love it, but she is really tired of listening bout the geek stuff… family, let’s face it, non of our friends gives a fckng fig bout our technical appreciations… at the end of the day… do u enjoy listening your contractor friend telling you about different cement qualities?
Just came back from watching it on Imax. I really loved the movie but should've just used an arri 😅😂. The skintones were straight up dogshit in closeups, especially the low-vfx, dialogue heavy scenes and the noise looks like noise. not grain but noise. Like I'm more pissed coz it was such a good movie and got this eyesore element to it solely because of a gimmick
all this hip it is just adverstimet from sony.
Fanboy not filmmaker.
Good skintones from an FX3? What drugs is this guy on? Venice low-light gives you a great image with deep colour; a prosumer FX3 gives you an image, yeah, but good Luck pushing it in Post.
Go see The Creator.
Umm, people have made movies with the canon 5D Mkii, and have pushed it in post in all directions...they don't need luck, just skill.
@@deniss.6205 And they looked like shite on the big screen. But you're welcome to ignore the massive chroma blocking and noise when you watch "The Creator." I'll wait to see it at home where it will look passable on the small screen.
@@alexiskobalt7450 listen my dude, your whole life can go by if you are just obsessing about pixels, or "chroma blocking"...this dude even made his first film with such a camera and never looked back. It's all about making the idea a reality, with whatever means possible, be it a gimmick or not.
@@deniss.6205 His first film, made guerilla-style with a Sony EX3, was completely different. He had zero budget and there were really few other options. And then he did all his VFX in his bedroom. Totally respect all that. But this time, Edwards DID have other small cam options (sigma fp, Canon C70, to name a couple) and he chose the crapiest one possible. Should I give him a pat on the back for that? No. He wasn't shooting in cave tunnels where he couldn't take a bigger camera because it would get stuck! This whole thing was done as a gimmick, not out of necessity. If he had been honest about that, I would have kept me mouth shut.
