This game transitions between times of day and weather smoother and far less jarring than most games that came decades later, even today. Amazing racer from '86!
It’s also really hard even compared to other arcade racers. Your margin of error to complete all the laps is _very_ small.
@@Davtwan Yeah I've heard it's pretty tough. Still doesn't take away from its *incredible* innovation at the time though.
Loved playing that game in the cool, rotating WEC-sit down arcade cabinet back in the days. Super hard game, but the graphics were just irresistibly crisp.
A worthy competitor to the legendary Out Run, and a damn fine game on its own!

The very first 24 Hours of Le Mans game. I love how all cars are Porsches, either the 956/962 or the 935.
This came in a pretty spectacular (and expensive) deluxe sitdown cab. Lots of movement during race.

I have to say, that's actually a pretty good rendition of the actual track layout of the time. Very simplified yeah, but they got all the key turns and features in there. Pretty impressive considering this is decades before we'd have sim racing games to compare a detailed version of the track against it!

@@LarryLopez91 Circuit de la Sarthe. As OP said, it’s a pretty rough translation of it and a good bit of the circuit as it is today has been changed since this game released, but considering what they were working with, it’s kind of amazing that any of it is recognisable at all.
Me gusta ese juego de carreras originalmente lanzado en 1986 basado en una competencia le mans 24 hoy en día es más larga de toda la carrera a pesar no es tan popular pero si origen francés el videojuego nunca salió en las consolas y pocos juegos hay muchos por como los clásicos de Konami sigue creciendo

This game was officially claimed to be the racing simulator released in the arcade cabinet.
This is likely the predecessor to the 1993 game Racin’ Force. This is amazing though for 1986, its a good rendition of the real circuit and even has day/night transitions.
Doing all that with no pit stops or partners. That poor driver must be exhausted.

Outrun (predating it by half a year) both looks and plays better. 🤔
Only adapted on western computers on C64, Spectrum and Amstrad. For once, Amstrad version is far better. In 4 colours but detailed, fast and very pleasant to play. Amiga and ST versions were announced but never saw the light of day.
Never took time to see the arcade version running. Very impressive for a game manufactured in 1986 🤩

So this game was competing with Outrun from SEGA in the same year, very interesting!!
Was there an option for the arcade owner to change number of laps in race? Reason i ask is my memory was it only needed 3 laps to finish. I think i only ever played the same full cabinet version in a local arcade.
if you passed all of those cars after starting, where are the other cars coming from?
I played this game on Amstrad CPC, and it was good.

Near the roads paving stones black and white looks diffrent to the original game too
Haven't aged well compared to Segas racing games from the 80's.

50 pence a go back in the day when it came out at barry island for only 50 or so seconds it was a tough game too play you need very marginal errors just too make it too exstended time

A total mess on C64, yes. Surprisingly, this time Amstrad wins the match. Very nice to play with sweet music and clever GFX.
The C64 Version made me hate this game.

As a game developed in 1986 it looks amazing! Nevertheless I can't understand few things: why there is only one track? And why the heck the race lasting at least 8-9 hours (day-evening-night-morning) with top speed reaching 360 km/h is only 54,4 km long? xD
