I could finish this at the caravan site we used to go to. Good times. 😎 The key was small inputs on steering wheel. Anything too aggressive and the car would just slide.
I remember the Snes port which was absolutely awful and greatly lacked the immersive visuals and amazing scaling that made the original really stand out back then. The Amiga version was marginally better even though the levels still didn't have much to do with the arcade game.
I tried the first level 8 times on MAME. Never got past it. Though I remember easily getting past it on the Arcade machine. Maybe the steering wheel and pedal helped
Good longplay. My impression about the game is that it could be an OK if not for the camera handling. Just watching the limitation on view distance while driving uphill irritated me greatly. Example: 2:17
It's an arcade game, these are not long, usually, they take 10 or 15 minutes to clear, the longest arcade game takes almost 50 minutes to complete, but they never take more than 1 hour to beat.

I agree and the programmers could have still done a much better job. I have not seen enemy cars so lazely put together even on nes racing games.
