Almost all of the 80's - mid 90's consoles were virtually screaming "We're in 3D guys, WE'RE IN 3D!!"
Glasses&Mouthplates except PlayStation 😂
I was thinking the same at 10:27. XD
Glasses&Mouthplates you sure 80s? Cuz I’m pretty sure my NES can’t play 3D games
It's like looking at a series of rejected Windows screensavers.
the Video Challenger and Action Max ones were from 1987, but those were VHS consoles
These startups are mostly a demo of the hardware. If it can't even run that, there's something wrong.
they botched the ps2 bootup
BIOS?
They basically act as the POST (power on self test) screen so you know the video and audio is working.
Well most startups require a disc or cartridge for the adequate startup. If you didn’t have one these are what you got.....

CreatiVision?
Designing these bootup screens and jingles must be hard. It's literally the sound and video people are gonna see every single time they play, better make it special.
It’s not like they put any effort into them now
Playstation :BEOOOOOOOOWWWWNEOWEEEEWWW
Abyssal Boy ps4: y’all hear sumn?
I like how they've mostly done away with startup intros, though some still honor the tradition.

I don’t know why this was so funny to me
You can kind of pick up on themes of each generation. Early systems were sort of like playfully showing off, showing the senses of humor of the programmer as much as the artists. Around the 90s, we start seeing the "Welcome to the next big thing" posturing. At the turn of the millennium, we see a split; ones who rebelliously cling to a certain image, and ones who resign themselves to how much more businesslike video games are becoming. Mid 2000s sees the last bits of energy popping out in abstract ways, before everything becomes so sterile and corporate. It's not about making something exciting anymore, it's about making a product.
The PS2 startup was always creepy and mysterious to me as a kid, especially when I was in my room alone in the dark hearing the eerie sounds fill the room. And the 1st Xbox startup for me as a kid as well was the coolest out of all my consoles I had.

Man, the startups use to be so cool, welcoming and relaxing like you were being greeted by a good friend when you got home. Now it is so cold and nonexistent it sometimes gets annoying how long takes for everything to boot up. Ps1's is so relaxing if they would've kept it basically the same with minor changes they could've made it seem like the console was aging with you. The Xbox's had mostly an amping you up effect and the 360 is a balance of both.

I had no idea that so many big companies tried their hand in the gaming world.
There was a time when it seemed easy for electronics companies to make consoles like they would TVs, and on top of that the technology required was far simpler.
Perhaps. Technology might be more advanced , but id still imagine those who are involved or in the business of, would keep up. I just think that the market is already well established and that trying to get your feet wet would have them promptly bitten off by the (competition) sharks. If Nintendo is having trouble with the competition then I would imagine newbies would be utterly destroyed and Nintendo are gods with money. So I see your point, but I feel it might be more of a business decision not to get involved. Stadia is a bullshit attempt and joke. You MUST bring something new and powerful to the table and keep the PC bullshit out of it. Strictly gaming.

PS1 sounds like something out of armageddon, PS2 sounds like you’re in a lab, and PS3 is walking into an orchestra.
11:07 PS1 is the only console startup that never fails to bring me goosebumps everytime I hear it.
The PS1 startup is not only the definition of epic, its epic itself.
I prefer the ps2 startup, although probably because I never had a ps1
Damn right those were the days man ps1 startup is legendary
Same but with the Wii :3
Sadly I never grew up with it. PS2 was me. So I still got the classics and a cool boot up but gosh the sound. There is something about boot up sounds back then like Windows 95 and the PS1 and 2 that I love.

Ps1 intro is goated. The music is so sick and how the animations and text combine with the instrumental, the fade out/fade in. Straight up 🐐. Best intro off all time
loved watching all the old system start ups brought back alot of memories
The 90s developers were on some good shit
1:59 fun fact :this console was only sold in Taiwan
This console was an Epic fail
With only 12 games released
2:03 and this one only came out in europe and canada in 1993
but the release to the US in 1994 got canceled
this was also a flop but thats a story of an angry nerd
Pol ThePol oh yeah I remember AVGN talking about that piece of crap
The fact it has only 12 games reminds me of the virtual boy
@@memebigboi5330
One of tbose games for Nintendo's red and black dumpster fire was published by Atlus. And that was Jack Bros. Which is ironic since Atlus also invented Megami Tensei, Shin Megami Tensei, and Persona. And Jack Bros should of been on GameBoy or the SNES, it has nothing to do with Virtual Reality!
Yeah ok but it wasnt Apple Pippin levels of fail
"Are you keeping up with the Commodore? 'Cause the Commodore's keeping up with you!" lol Haven't heard that for a while.
14:32 I remember when my dad had this console back in 2019, and we still have it today!
15:52 that intro only happened once on the first day I got it but now it starts up like 15:47
Yeah it’s just a first time startup, I wish more consoles did that
@@pathetic_girl True
The Switch got depression lmao
Mine just takes me to the home screen, no intro

I love how after the nintendo switch it's just virtual boy
What!
It is really not like it at all
12:00 Holy fuck wow I haven't seen this particular screen since 2002, when I first set my fatty PS2 up.
Is that the screen you get when you start your ps2 for the first time?
Alot of these 80s and 90s games bring back alot of memories of my childhood. Not the video game systems themselves but family and friends long dead.
16:31 I’m not that old but I remember playing super Mario 3D world every day on this, the startup sound brings so many memories
Thank you
@@SeBi-lv3de He meant Land, not World.

The Dreamcast was Sega's final console.
listening to startups from before the 2000's feel like an outer body experience
It's true
Anemoia would do that to you.
Out-of-body, is how the saying goes.
13:01 the way this made me feel 😔
When it's 2013 and finally the weekend. You log hop on your 360 for some Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition with the boys.
So many memories
I actually wasn't even alive when the xbox 360 s came out 🤣
I never owned an Xbox but I remember going to my babysitter’s house and some guy had brought his and left it there for us. I never really played but I would watch everyone else play things like GTA or Red Dead Redemption or something like that. Those were the days.
@@damasterofskitsees or for some Forza Horizon
That was awesome. Made me feel old because I knew all of them! Had most of them at points in my life. Ahhh, how time flies...
Even the Halcyon? The Video Challenger and the ActionMax?
This is gonna sound so basic lol, but the PS4 intro puts such a big smile on my face every time I hear it. It’s just been such a mainstay for such a big chunk of my life, I can’t help but feel like I’m being welcomed home when I hear that intro.

The memories of waking up early on a Saturday morning to play on the Wii, only to wake the entire house with the Wii start up noise blasting. Always so loud.
this gives me intense nostalga even though i never got to experience using any of the older consoles
6:49 You know when you see this you're in for something good.
*It sure was nice for the Princess to invite us to a picnic, ay Luigi?*
Me:I have made a horrible mistake.
11:29 is actually the startup used on Dreamcast dev units.
Cool! :)
He also only showed the PS4 mantanence screen. It's the screen that appears when you first buy the console. That's technically not the start up screen.
Coco yeah
Surprised there wasn't a Veggie tales Game after watching that.

The visuals are cool too
