    Looks good, and I'm glad they went to the trouble of having transparent windows rather than painted ones, but I'm looking at my Product Enterprise version as I type this and nothing can replace that.

    Not too fussed about the inaccurate torpedo tubes as the rest looks fantastic. As someone who missed out on the product enterprise one this is brilliant, now we just need the terror fish to go with it.

    I would have loved this back when I was first watching the show in the sixties. In those days we did not have much reference resources to compare with so any inaccuracies would not be noticed much. Glad I have the Product Enterpriss replica though if a really nice model kit was released today I would get one as well. This Corgi replica is pretty well done considering it has to be an action toy as well...

      I want an all metal (legs and rockets too and the bottom of the pod and it’s wheels.) TB2 and TB4.
      With ad much detail and accessories too, maybe a stand more pods and vehicles.
      And the rest of the TB all metal, with a scale TB5 to TB3, so they can interlock.
      To be honest I would just love all the models reproduced with 100% accuracy and accessories, and all metal.
      I don’t mind paying for such features.

    I never saw any stories that Dinky had prototyped a Stingray sub toy in the 1960's. I would think an example would have made it to a Vectis auction or somewhere.

    • @zacmumblethunder7466
      @zacmumblethunder7466 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      When the Dinky factory closed, the receivers went for a quick sale. The place was stripped and the die cast moulds were sold off as ship's ballast. I suspect that any prototypes met a similar fate.
      A plastic manufacturer magaged to buy the moulds for the plastic components and used to reproduce them for use in restorations.

    It’s a nice attempt. It seems Corgi wanted to strike a balance between ‘screen accurate’ and ‘it’s just a toy nobody cares paint it metallic blue’ and I think they managed that, but it’s not correct to the Dinky Toy aesthetic, imho.
    If Dinky had made this in the ‘60s, it would have wheels poking out from the underside, with the back axle connecting to a rod that would spin the Ratemaster as it rolled. Also I suspect pushing the periscope down would have fired the missiles.
    Still, it seems a fun toy. Buying the non-limited from Corgi seems an option.

    • @zacmumblethunder7466
      @zacmumblethunder7466 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, along with Lesney (who became "Matchbox". There were several toy car manufacturers in the UK, but they were the big 3.
      Such was the rivalry that newspapers ran features in the run up to Christmas 1965 trying to predict whether Fab1 (Dinky) or The Batmobile (Corgi) would be the bigger seller that year.

  • @joefontanne

    Hmm, let's take a nice classic design and ruin it. The squared-off torpedo tubes, the incorrect shape of the bow . . . just to mention two things completely wrong with this toy. Surely it is just as easy to get these aspects right as it is to get them wrong? A wasted opportunity - it's a shame. Ah, well.
