  • White matter disease was originally considered a normal event in an aging brain. But Dr. Daniel Mandell and his research team have discovered that it might actually be caused by tiny strokes and contribute to vascular dementia.

It happened to my grand pa. His brain got tiny and repeating stroke. Some functions started to deteriorate without him loosing his cognition and intelligence. But, the last year and half of his life, it got worse, and all the degraded function suddenly fell into significant dysfonction. He had almost no motor capability and he could not find the words but was still aware of their definition.

Great insight! Does this mean a research study with a larger population is coming soon?

From 2018 to 2023 I went from moderate Periventricular White Matter lesions to severe. I lowered my BP, Lost all the weight, and have great health. This is out of my hands.

you cant its the natural part of aging but a healthy diet and lifestyle would make them less frequent.
      1. dont be overweight
      2. excercise
      3. eat well and not tons of shit

Dr. Mandell, Please follow up with an article on specific proactive advice for people. My only issue is high cholesterol, but I have a CT scan that says, " mild nonspecific white matter disease", and I will do WHATEVER it takes to prevent more damage to my brain !!!! Thank you !
