Fantastic review! Honestly, this is one of the most balanced/neutral reviews I've come across. Loving every aspect of Deuce, I couldn’t ask for a better IEM at this price point...
@gadgetgenerationspulkit Thanks P. It's not a bad iem just very genre specific and source picky , and certainly can be enjoyed when in the mood. But for me not special and not having been beaten out by a better tuned IEM for 1/10th price.
same experience here, I ended feeling pretty much the same way you do about this set. Placed my order as soon as HBB video was released, their website had their first tier of supporters filled, yet i did not get an email from them contacting me in any way to tell what prize was my order into. In fact, i received no price at all, not even a round case but the cheapest textile tiny squared case where the set barely fits, and that is without the impedance adapter. By beginning of november i was starting to loose faith if I was going to get anything at all. By the time it arrived and so plain, I had no hype left, no interest anymore so I thought that's why to me they sounded wrong without adapter and uglier still with it. You have said the rest. Maybe you as reviewer could be rescued as a brand fan if they were to follow your suggestion. Me, I do not think to risk again the chance to get anything decent in a boutique brand trying to push a massive value product, they just don't know how to produce, merch, or even distribute it. I can confirm it was a good dream that a mediatic reviewer gave momentum.
❤ I just love how politely you judged the DEUCE 😂 and when it is BEST looking of my IEMs and the BASS is awesome 👍 it sadly do not delivered on its promises 😢 and the delivery 🚚 with missing bonuses and no response from FATfreq made it an industry wide know FLOP 😮
I generally avoid bassy IEM. My first IEM was an HBB KZ DQ6. Only about 15 USD I believe. What I noticed immediately was that a lot of bass drowns out a lot of other frequencies and I thought I wanted bass but immediately realize, I don't. Not the amount that bassheads need anyway. It was a good first experience and about 3 months later I bought a Moondrop Kato. I found that even the bass to Kato is a bit much at times. Only bothers me in songs with lots of drums but was really perfect for movies. My complain about the Kato is more on the treble which was a bit peaky. From that I know that I don't bassy IEM, neither do I want v-shaped or Harman tuning. This is the reason why I'm never interested in the likes of Dunu Da Vinci, Fatfreq, or most IEM that has "bass" as their selling point. Also the reason why I'll probably hate Estrella. I bought a P7, still on the way, to replace my broken Kato. From what I hear about it, I will like it. I'm still not sure though, it was either P7 or Juzear 81T. There's more reviews on P7 so I chose that due to more sample size but it does get me wondering if I'd have liked 81T more. But then again, I have to save for about 4 months for an IEM priced at 200 so I can't afford to try things by buying them anyway. It's a luxury. I'm enthusiastic of the hobby but mostly I watch reviews knowing that I won't ever buy the sets. I just like watching these videos on thess pretty sets and the discussion on audio. HBB seems like a basshead to me. I watched his reviews but I don't forget that he might prefer his music bassy. The way he tuned his collabs, I know I won't like them. But I think he's pretty fair as a reviewer and recognizes that people want different things in their music, there are different preferences. I put Jaysaudio in "do not recommened channel" or something on youtube because the guy seems immature with what he desires of IEM. I remember him comparing Hexa I believed to Dusk just from graph alone. I know what I want out of IEMs (I consider the hobby expensive) and IEM reviewers. It's honesty but also awareness of different preferences in tuning. I for one don't want IEMs that fatiques me after a short time. I watch a lot of reviewers on YT. Only two people bother me due to the apparent immaturity and inability to try to be objective or at least to acknowledge their subjectivity. Those two are Sharur and Jayzaudio. I may not like HBB's tuning preference especially with bass, but I respect his takes on IEMs. Always fun to watch his videos.
Was considering the Deuce but now am considering the e20 with a 30ohm and 75ohm adapter to try out (i can get both for less money than just the 50ohm). How would they sound with either? Is 30 not enough bass, and is 75 too much (in comparison to the deuce)? I still want the mids and highs to sound good...but I do want a very bassy deuce like experience. Oh and is a qudelix (2.5mm) and a fiio ka13 (4.4mm) enough to power the e20 plus impedance adapter? Sorry, I'm still new to this stuff! Thanks alot man, great video.
Yee im still waiting for the Deuce, but did get the Aoshida just before the weekend, fun you mention the body slam to the guitar, it was one thing i did react on to the Aoshida, it sounded more like a back dunk, else its sounds pretty good.
@ it’s not bad without eq at all. It needs a bit of power…nothing a good quality dongle can’t provide. I use my E20 without eq exclusively and find them very enjoyable. If I lost them I would definitely buy again. It’s a no brainer imho.
I was going to go into THEY DIDN'T NEED A COLLABORATOR but decided to chill it a bit on them even though they really don't deserve it. Honestly lest see if they learn anything on this release. Change their wicked ways! On the not so seen side I also feel I got preferential treatment after I started a PayPal dispute and Yeo got in touch with me , and honestly that felt even more upsetting while so many others are still waiting for thier units to show up. I just got lucky and Canada Post delivered mine the day before a national Postal Strike!
i saw the discounted price of E20 before it came to my knowing about it being compared to Deuce. if i happen to know much earlier, i would have had it in my hands now.
I was able to demo this last week at fatfreq booth and I have similar impressions with you. Too much sub bass with not enough midbass to support it as well as mids sounding too drowned out to me. Not as bad as scarlet mini bass but I can see why some people would grab the deuce. It ended up selling out after all. On a side note, I was able to try sliivo sl41 from other people going around there. I really liked it except the cymbals can sound harsh on genres like rock/metal.
I want to try a Meastro Mini that's the only one I haven't and think for slam it might be the best of the bunch. But no way would I buy a FF now in support forget it! Until FF gets thier shit together and show they care about US more than the money or at least a proper balance!
Great review! I hope you can return this unit or sell it otherwise it will be a dust holder (the cable already collecting that). Please note that the intro slideshow is showing the Kotori Audio Zephyr's specs wrong, it doesn't have 1DD & 2 BA...
I personally enjoy the Deuce tips but for longer comfort and while working out I prefer the Symbio - W (Silicone+Memory Foam Eartips). Other opinion - Don’t use bass-enhancing ear tips if you don’t want your ears to explode (unless you’re a hardcore basshead). Ear tips like the EPZ M100 or silicone-based tips that allow for breathing feel more comfortable across various genres. Spinfit W1 Premium is also more than enough to provide a perfect top seal.
NEXT Time warn us! .... Yeah could see this coming. When I found out they shipped the units to a third party OH BOY! Then people were finding out you could buy and receive it so fast from 3rd party sellers. What a bone head move on FF part!
Curious……🤨 The actual formal name for these is the “Fatfreq x HBB Deuce” yet you somehow chose to leave that out in both the title and your review? Why? This iem was a collaboration between Fatfreq and HBB. He’s the one responsible for the tuning! Money grab? Maybe…..
Because HBB Calls me a Carnival Barker and a Whore - So I may have forgotten to give him credit but honestly I didn't want to be the lesser person bringing it up with his huge disrespect to me I would have went off. I gave this big mindful thought before I shot the Video and wanted to be the better person.
Anytime i see an iem like this with absolutely no mid bass i just immediately pass. Also amything harman i typically pass on. Its a boring tuning for me and what i listen to
Fantastic review! Honestly, this is one of the most balanced/neutral reviews I've come across. Loving every aspect of Deuce, I couldn’t ask for a better IEM at this price point...
Also, adding to this what kind DAC/Amp would you recommend for this? I know this requires a lot of power..
Thnx Monk, 4 killing the enjoyment of my newly arrived Duece. U r the turd in my new year punchbowl. Thnx again…
I have just completed my shoot of the Deuce today. Good video TDM.
@gadgetgenerationspulkit Thanks P. It's not a bad iem just very genre specific and source picky , and certainly can be enjoyed when in the mood. But for me not special and not having been beaten out by a better tuned IEM for 1/10th price.
the worst experience trying to get one of these and im glad I did not

Sorry for your experience, I tried EQ ing my set and like it with that but honestly the Shanling Tino is better tuned for $80
I’m so glad I passed on this thing 😂
Another very informative review TDM. 👍🏻👍🏻
I hear you, I hear you Jason -- the mid bass slam has gone AWOL, isn't that a treasonable offence in the US Armed Forces? 😂 😂

Right on! 100% you called it!
Sad that a small company wasn't prepared for such a large selling release and is now getting a lot of shit for it. Appropriately, but still.
Yup but selling to 3rd parties on thier new releases they have been called out on this before
@tonedeafmonk Oh, I thought it was strictly a new circumstance. Well at least they'll have to fix their operations now.
Yes they have and keep doing it so obviously they haven't learned anything or really don't care about us and chasing the money.
When u gonna drop a tier list I’ve been waiting over a year!!!!!!!😢😢😢

The Velcan impedance adapters are cheap and there is also the variable models now as well. a.aliexpress.com/_mPz2pGX
Does anybody happen to own both the Aoshida E20 and the new Castor Pro (Bass Version)? Curious to know how they compare.
Good question... maybe Audio Amigo? And if he doesn't have E20, I think he'd be down to getting it.
Yee im still waiting for the Deuce, but did get the Aoshida just before the weekend, fun you mention the body slam to the guitar, it was one thing i did react on to the Aoshida, it sounded more like a back dunk, else its sounds pretty good.
Great review! I'm not sure you managed to keep it light. Probably doesn't deserve to be.
🤣
Great review TDM, I’m sticking with my trusty Aoshida E20. I do love fatfreq but the Duece ain’t it.
How bad is the E20 without EQ? I have it in my cart…
@ it’s not bad without eq at all. It needs a bit of power…nothing a good quality dongle can’t provide. I use my E20 without eq exclusively and find them very enjoyable. If I lost them I would definitely buy again. It’s a no brainer imho.
I Loved Your Valuable advice to “Fat” “Freques”

To each their own. Deuce is pretty damn awesome

Ah thanks missed that on the Zephyr.
❤
Any suggestions for tips for Duece....is there a better compatible ones.

@tonedeafmonk yeah ff could have done better, the long delay for a cable and 25ohm adapter doesn't make any sense.
Oof! That's you holding back eh? That um, deuce Pic you started off with pretty much says everything for ya. 1000 words worth of shite 😂
Who names it DEUCE - this wasn't a slight against the IEM so much as calling it a slang word for taking a SHIT!
@tonedeafmonk in hindsight, it's kind of ironic foreshadowing seeing the shitshow coming out of that deuce... The universe works in mysterious ways 😂
Gotta get an E20, or the Relentless.
got both, plus a 50ohm impedance adapter. Love both.
@Divionist which one is more value for money?
Curious……🤨

Because that hawaiian reviewer doesn't deserve anything.

@@tonedeafmonkwhat was his reason to say that?its not really nice specially in this hobby?!
Someone needs to start rapping and call themselves Da Lil Baby 😁
You volunteering! SLEEP LIL DA BABY
Anytime i see an iem like this with absolutely no mid bass i just immediately pass. Also amything harman i typically pass on. Its a boring tuning for me and what i listen to
At least your set worked. Mine arrived last week with a faulty left bud. Such a shit show
Oh Snap sorry to hear DAMN. This release seems to be plagued on many fronts!
Yh I agree Deuce is suited more towards rap, hip-hop, EDM etc. It's very genre specific.
Interesting! I have been using it for everything.
@ctruett5 of course it can be used for any genre. But it sounds better on the one's I mentioned earlier mate.
1/10th of the price....
