    Don't take your truck to the dealer to get this latch adjusted! It's such a simple job.

      it's same procedure for all types of cars ?

      Completely depends on the car. If your hood won't close, see if you can adjust the catch like I did in this video. Alternatively, you may need to shim or adjust the hook on the hood itself. Good luck!

    Thank you so much! Just changed my grille and it was NOT wanting to close. This saved me a trip to a mechanic and possibly a couple hundred $$

      Having the same issue when trying to install the AVS Bugflector ll on my Honda Element. The hood is kinda annoying to close as is but when the guard is on, it don't close at all. Hopefully this info is kinda universal, so I can give this a go.

    After installing then re-installing/adjusting my ATV deflector, with the same results each time including (Another possible, easier solution for some vehicles) adjusting the hood "Stoppers/bumpers," on my 2009 Nissan Versa, I came upon this video & adjusting the latch was a cinch-no trim removal, & now the hood closes perfectly. You should make a Universal video for most cars, & include the hood bumper solution. THANK YOU!

      Good idea, Thick! I'll add your suggestion to my pile of future video ideas. Thanks for watching!

    do you have any suggestions on how you would adjust the hood latch height if when you pull the hood lever from the inside of the car to open the hood, the hood doesnt prop up all the way. I have to get inbetween the front bump and the hood with something and lightly apply upward presssure for it to open during cold whether

      Hmm... it's been a while since I looked at this mechanism... but as I recall there is a spring on the underside of the hood which should pop the hood up about an inch when released... have you checked to make sure this spring is not binding on anything? Perhaps the hood-side of the mechanism needs a slight alignment adjustment? Let me know if this is not helpful, and I'll go check my mechanism to see what other suggestions I may have. Thanks!

    What about the bonnet Ajar warning light? Does this have any adjustment? Will backing off the latch adjustment make the light come on?

    • @AmplifyDIY
      @AmplifyDIY  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ken - that warning light comes from a sensor in the latch. As long as the latch is closing properly, the light will not come on. Great question!

    I've paid $87000 for a ute and the ruddy bonnet won't close. This is just absolutely ridiculous on Fords part.
    So I have since discovered that you must have your bonnet leaver in the cab pushed in, then the bonnet will close.
    This is not in the manual.

      On mine (US version, fwiw) the lever in the cab is spring loaded such that it will not stay in the out position. Pull it to release the hood (bonnet) and when I let go it snaps back into the closed position. Maybe you are missing a spring somewhere?

    What do you do if it’s locked shut??

    • @AmplifyDIY
      @AmplifyDIY  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Locked shut? Do you mean that the hood just won't open when you pull the lever in the cab? Or does the lever in the cab not move? There is no actual locking mechanism on this hatch release... my guess is that either you need to pull harder on the hood latch release in the cab, or that some debris/junk has gotten into the seal around the hood and is sort of acting like a glue, holding the hood down even though the latch has been released.. In that case, have a helper hold the hood latch release in the cab while you lift the hood from the front of the truck. Good luck!

      @@AmplifyDIY oh wow!! Thank you for responding!! That’s incredible! So, a week ago I replaced the stock grille for a Raptor grille and when I was done, the hood latched perfectly so I didn’t think anything of it. Now that I want to put a bug deflector on the hood - I just tried opening it (from the lever in the cab); the hood popped up but the hook that the hatch release should push aside won’t move it at all - I even tried prying the hook back with a long screw driver but it won’t budge and now the hood won’t latch at all. I’m heading to the store to get longer tools; hopefully that will help!

      Ahh, I see! I wonder if there is something in the Raptor grille that is obstructing / blocking the movement of the hood release? I'm curious to hear what you find - hopefully longer tools get it open. Good luck!
