The guy in the crowd is BBK, the unofficial-official president of beatbox. He is a Canadian BBX champ (Solo 2014 & 2015). And he's a great artist. He's not just some guy in the crowd, he is THE GUY in the crowd.
Battle Rules: There is a set time like in the "normal" Battles aswell, just for loopstations it's a bit longer (1:30 min for solo battles, 3 min for loopstation battles). There are no pre-recordings allowed, everything must be created on the spot! You are however allowed to prepare the effects and settings for your rounds (will explain further below). Judging criterias: Musicality, Timing, Mixing, Quality of Sounds, Energy, Tuning, Versatility, Technique (how well you know your loopstation and how you use the in-built effects)... Mind you - these are just criterias to help with a desicion, what matters MOST is the overall feeling of the rounds, the musical piece within itself, how well thought out a round felt, etc. The way Loopstations work: For many years every loopstation battle was held with the BOSS-RC-505, wich was the dominating model. It has 5 seperate tracks that you can record stuff on, you can layer as many sounds on one track as you'd like. Each track has it's own volume-regulator and can be paused or played seperatley. The input-volume can be controlled via a small knob and there is input- and output effects. You can layer up to 3 Effects on either in- or output at the same time. Most common input-effects: Reverb, Dynamics, EQ, Granular Delay, Guitar to Bass, Pan, Delay... Most common output effects: Beat Scatter (leaves out / scatters recorded pieces of a track, SARO used it in his first round for the drop), Transpose (bends the recorded notes, SARO used it for his big drop in the second round), Beat Repeat (repeats a section of a recorded track, commonly used for build-ups before drops)... You can chose wich track is affected by the output-effects, so you can for example put a Beat Scatter on the melody-track while letting your drum-track continue normally. Nowadays, since the Loopstation Battles of the GBB 2021, they are allowed to bring a secondary device, wich of course gives them MUCH more options, and there is a new Version of the dominating Loopstation: The BOSS-RC-505 Mk2, wich also is much more complex than the previous one. Still there are many artists who refuse to bring a second device, many of wich are VERY successful! Since you guys have a background in HipHop I believe you will thoroughly enjoy the battles of BreZ, another french artist. Either his battle vs. NME from the GBB 2019 or his battle against Rythmind from the GBB 2021, but I suggest you watch the older one first. Much love and welcome to the wonderful world of Beatbox-Looping 🥳
Hands-down favorite reaction, not just for the channel but for this video. Love seeing you guys get pumped up over this stuff!!! So glad you guys brought this to the channel! By the way, you are literally the first reactor I've ever seen that actually picked up on the fact that MB14's equipment was messing up (that's gotta be that show experience). As for the pre-loaded sounds, etc: most people have the same question, especially when the more electronic-sounding sounds come from Saro. What Saro is doing is making a sound on a loop, then speeding it waaaaay, waaaaaay up until it sounds like a tone, and is using those tones in his routine. As for the flanging sounds, I believe Saro is manually creating the same effect by doubling up on the same sound with a tiny delay between the two channels. As the two identical sounds move closer and farther apart in delay, that generates the flanging sound you hear. This battle is perfect to start with b/c you can see how things were at their rawest. The RC505 MKI meant no pre-recorded sounds, MIDI sequencers, resampling; everything had to originate from the mic at play time.
Just for some context: MB-14 (the first guy) was the odds on favorite to win the competition. In his first round of the battles, he crashed his loopstation because he went too hard and overloaded it. Saro (the 2nd guy) was relatively unknown before that night as he hadn’t competed yet. He blew everyone away, obviously. As a matter of fact, he’s never lost a battle even now, won the world championship and has only ever lost a single vote from any judge.
I love it when people know this. Absolutely correct, he lost one judge's vote to NME, that's it. I think he has the closest to perfect career in all of beatboxing/loopstation.
Saro is the insane on the loopstation while MB14 is an allround artist who can beatbox on the highest level without a loopstation and is an amazing singer. The way those artists use the loopstation is very different. MB14 already has fantastic beats and vocals that he just loops together. Saro on the other hand creates all the magic within the loopstation and uses all it's potential to the fullest.
@jakobbrauer9121 my personal favorite loostation battle of all time: Bizkit vs Robin GBB2021. Both on OG RC-505 Mk 1, no second device, every round powerful AF. I remember thinking after Bizkit's first round: "how TF do you answer TO THAT", And Robin just said, "Hold my croissant" 🤣 . Bizkit just sitting on the stage to watch, and Robin opening his eyes in the middle of his Round 2 still gives me goosebumps.
BTW guy in the crowd with the faces is BBK, the community-designated "Beatbox President". He has a solo shoutout video with him beatboxing called "Milking Cows" that is awesome :)
So glad you guys started these! I love melt your face off edm and looping! That headbanging break your neck meets electric shock beats! It’s really face melting live!
Yo this is a god tier battle, I became a member for this alone, but yall gotta listen to the finale of SARO vs Tioneb, its such a great battle, love the beatboxing reactions keep it up
This is my fav loopstation battle ever and I’m so happy to see you guys react. Huge smile on my face the whole time. Now do reactions to this with your friends that are producers
I agree this one is more famous because both did such a great job while the finals was quite frankly a massacre,. Saro's Final two rounds are my favourites of his no doubt. I might be in the minority to say that while the 2nd round in the finals is the most legendary set ever I actually prefer his first round because it is so smooth and I can listen to it everyday multiple times and its still just as great as listening to it for the first time. Gives me holiday vibes :)
I been waiting on this one.. Great reaction to a great video. Loved every second of it. I knew you'd f with it when i recommended this the other day. Iv watched this battle multiple times through the years and its super dope everytime i watch it. I never get tired of watching this battle.
I just love how everyone think that it's already over for Saro after hearing MB14 great 1st set.. only to get blown away by Saro's skills a minute later :)
Man, I absolutely love the beatboxing community. I have been watching GBB for years and beatboxing vids for even longer. I love when a reactor I enjoy watching vids with stumbles onto beatboxing and I always follow them down the rabbit hole gladly :)
I’d check out Bizkit from the USA if you’re interested in seeing battle style looper. Very aggressive in your face type tracks 🔥 love the reaction cool to see you guys branching into the loop side of beatbox
Been watching beatbox since 2016 and been addicted. I have watched a hell of a lot of vids im so happy to see new reaction channels get into it i love seeing new reactions to it
This is a brilliant reaction. I love it so much. This is a legendary battle. Thank you for this. I can't wait to see more loopstation reactions. Much love.
Bro Pegasus I love you bro I discovered this a couple years ago and I literally had the same reaction as you did when sorrow went lmao this shot goes crazy it’s completely unbelievable
Watching people first realize that there is this huge loopstation rabbit hole of greatness and a giant beatbox community on TH-cam is so enjoyable to watch.
Black P, this is just a beautiful thing man. I found out about you probably over 10 years ago watching your cyphers on YT and immediately got into beatbox right after that. I have YT to thank for that as well because I had no idea back then how big the beatbox community was. I’ve been playing drums since 2003 so I didn’t even realize I was a beatboxer because when I didn’t have my drums, I was making drum sounds with my mouth. So by the time I found out about the beatbox scene, I was already a decent beginner beatboxer. Fast forward to now, I’m actually a very good beatboxer in Houston TX and I still play drums everyday, but seeing you now again, but now reacting to all the beatbox videos is just a crazy thing. If only you knew what I was going through at the time watching you and watching beatbox videos…life is just crazy man. God bless y’all and keep up the good work, I really like these videos. I’m glad to see you on YT again.
All of those sounds are made in the moment, and they adjust them, modifie them in the moment too. So you record a loop while you are searching effect for your drop or your next loop. You are not ready for what you will see 😂🔥
Please react to Rythmind 🇫🇷 vs BreZ 🇫🇷 | GRAND BEATBOX BATTLE 2021: WORLD LEAGUE | Quarter Final I got into watching these competitions a few years back and still go back a listen to them. I follow many of the beat boxing and looping channels. Love watching your reactions!
That's "the face" you make when the craaazy beats drops... we all do it... both of you did in this video. That guy is like the posterboy for the face and a beatboxer/looper too I believe.
NME vs Brez NME vs Rythmind Are some good ones, I haven't been keeping up with the bbx scene for a minute. But you should def also check out the top 10 drops from over the years as well!
2:30 when yall were talking about the dude making faces his name is BBK and hes actually the president of the GBB, and is actually a really good beatboxer himself
Excellent choice to start checking out the world of beatbox loopers specially because both Saro and specially MB14 here build up their song quite a bit vs later on when you get to Frosty, Rhythmind or particularly Inkie that just drop fully produced tracks seemingly coming out of nowhere it gets amazingly complex fast as you get to modern loopers.
Its all actually their voice with just some of the effects added up but its all nuts plzzz do watch mb14 because his music is actually amazing like real songs bro daaamn bro😊
U will love So-So, he got the most hyped loop station! "INKIE vs SO-SO | Grand Beatbox Battle 2019 | LOOPSTATION Small Final". and the guy with the faces is bbk. Love your reaction for saros first song, reminds me of the first time watching beatbox.
Battles are mostly judged on a few things mainly Energy, Crowd Control, Technical application, Musical composition/structure and also just skill as well. But the most important thing is they want to see you using your beatbox to make the songs mostly, a lot of these loopers have too make effects added into their loop stations which let them distort sounds add reverb and all this other stuff which can often take away from the beatbox. You get like bonus points if you can use mostly just your mouth to create the whole song because it requires higher degree of skill to hit certain notes and sounds which is why MB14 and Tom Thum are considered like some of the best loopers and why they're the judges for loopstation category. Saro definitely wins most his battles on energy and beat kills, his crowd control is one of the best out there not better than Brez or Rhythmind though and Saro is really good at timing his rounds perfectly and structuring his sets to like drop at the right time and build up the drops nicely, really good at building structure all leading up to the drops. These guys are truly insane! Both geniuses in different ways but I do prefer MB14 the most because sometimes I just care more about what sounds better to me what would I rather listen to lol
@@mladiSinatralol. definitely wish that battle happened Brez and Rhythmind the only guys who can really beat Saro. A lot of people would consider Saro the best, but I mean his last wins were a long time ago and these loopers got way better since then
You are correct and yes bro, we literally share the prefference. Mb14 is my man just cause i prefer his more raw, musical aproach. Its kinda magical. Its music. While Saro is sick, like just crazy edm sickness by using the full effects potential of the loopstation.
Saro vs Tioneb, Saro vs NME, Saro vs Robin, NME vs Brez, NME vs Rythmind, NME vs Inkie, Inkie vs Beatness, MB14 vs Penkyx and ofc MB14 La Cup showcase +There is no prerecorded sounds, everything what u hear is made on stage
Yo! you guys should watch the loop battles in order of the years, like for example now u watched 2017, so watch trough 2017 battles then move on to 2018 and 2019 etc. You will at the same time see and hear how the loop scene has evolved ! its crazy. and you will never run out of content with beatbox loop !
One of my favorite beatbox battle videos! Y'all should deffs check out Beardy Man's set from Grand Beatbox Battle Showcase 2019, it's like 30 minutes long but worth the watch for sure.
You should watch Uniteam vs. Kotcha from GBB 2019, probably the best beatbox team battle ever, crazy beats, and lots of funny moments. I think yall would get a kick out of it!
All they do with the loopstation is made live, they don't have anything prerecorded on the loop, they just are using their voices and the knowledge they have from the machine to do their tracks. Another great loopstation battle that you should react to is "Rythmind vs Brez" 😉
the guy in the crowd who pullls the faces is called BBK and is a beatboxer himself but is hugely loved in the scene as he helps organise a lot of the events and of course for his great reactions
The crazy thing is this barely scratches the surface of where looping is at right now bro. The wildcards for the GBB23 were the wildest shit to come out of looping so far. Also really funny that you recognized Dharni just from his tutorials. Lmao. Dharni is one of the OG's in the modern scene.
MB14 La Cup Showcase is one of the most legendary loopstation performances of all time, definitely worth checking out!
2nd this! Different gravy and sound compared to traditional
banger
( just be careful of the sound at the start of the video, there is 2 glitch audio )
YESS
They wouldn't belive it

Yeah this guy is in the crowd in every video of loop station battle I've watched. He is always there 🤣🤣
yea BBK is great guy and beatboxers
There are even compilations on, TH-cam showing him in the crowds, always making some crazy face lol 🤪
He is the Crowd xD FrFr

props yo, i had no real idea, and ive watched alot of loopers :)
Best comment!!! 🔥🔥🔥
Maybe the Saro ft BreZ - Ambition track as well for some more breZ
i thought BreZ was german? welp

Loop station beatbox is really amazin. That guy owns the building where they do the battles.
More loopstation battle reaction pleaaaaaase ! Fire !!!!

I don’t want to spoil the surprise, but you HAVE to watch Saro’s final battle against Tioneb. It’s absolutely legendary

if tioneb didnt use up his best songs against penkyx and robin, he would have probably had a better chance at winning

You know it’s fire when BP starts chair dancing 😂 Love this stuff! Keep it going! ✌🏻🫶🏻❤️🔥❤️🔥
Saros and Mb14s song Wolfgang is beyond sick....them together is too powerful. Then you have Tom Thum of course! Gene as well! Sooo many GOATS!
They did a song together?? GTFO!!!!!! I have chills I’m so, excited to listen to it.
Thank you so much for diving in. This is a wonderful rabbit hole to dive down. Please do more!!!!! Please please

Welcome! This was game changing year. Worth watching all the stuff after to watch it evolve.

Love this battle probably one of the best on TH-cam - I’d suggest watching mb14 showcase or his talent show audition it’s nuts
Its all in the moment, which is what makes it dam better to hear it and see what they come up with in the end
And that dude is BBK
Love that you guys reacted to this... The Final with Saro vs Tioneb, when he pulls out Billie Jean out of thin air, Brilliant!
Yes the loop station yes! I’ve been commenting about this reaction. Love the podcast! Love the reactions. Keep up the good podcast brotha!

Saro vs Tioneb, Saro vs NME, Saro vs Robin, NME vs Brez, NME vs Rythmind, NME vs Inkie, Inkie vs Beatness, MB14 vs Penkyx and ofc MB14 La Cup showcase
+There is no prerecorded sounds, everything what u hear is made on stage
Yo! you guys should watch the loop battles in order of the years, like for example now u watched 2017, so watch trough 2017 battles then move on to 2018 and 2019 etc. You will at the same time see and hear how the loop scene has evolved ! its crazy. and you will never run out of content with beatbox loop !
React to more loopstation battle!! It's EPIC!!!!! Especially 2021 solo loopstation.
Dope reaction. If you're starting to get into loops, be sure to add So-So's 2021 elimination 🔥🔥
BP you guys have to check out the looper SO-SO Mario Bros themes. It's incredible!
U gonna get overwhelmed from the requests , so the best thing you guys can do is do the reaction with the most likes on it , and God bless you both
love watching these
One of my favorite beatbox battle videos! Y'all should deffs check out Beardy Man's set from Grand Beatbox Battle Showcase 2019, it's like 30 minutes long but worth the watch for sure.
I’d recommend a deep dive into Saro , not the best best boxer but by far the best with a loop station.
Last comment i promise his top with berywam on is the groups beatbox team like 5 people just beaboxing insane nice reaction cant wait for the next
I’ve never seen this before, but that’s awesome!
Plz do react to other loopstation battles also it'll be very fun for you
Yooo let’s go!!!! ESH!!!
esh
You should watch Uniteam vs. Kotcha from GBB 2019, probably the best beatbox team battle ever, crazy beats, and lots of funny moments. I think yall would get a kick out of it!
@Black Pegasus when we gunna see some Napom love?
Just a note. This is saros first time battling on stage. Came in as a mostly unknown and wrecked up shop.
Wow black P reacting to SARO and MB14 😍😍😍 dream come true
Oh no you didn't.. You boys are about to go down the deepest rabbit hole. Enjoy your adventure. Its a whole lot of fun. Welcome aboard 😊
Guy in the crowd is called BBK, he's beatboxer from canada
All they do with the loopstation is made live, they don't have anything prerecorded on the loop, they just are using their voices and the knowledge they have from the machine to do their tracks.
Another great loopstation battle that you should react to is "Rythmind vs Brez" 😉
the guy in the crowd who pullls the faces is called BBK and is a beatboxer himself but is hugely loved in the scene as he helps organise a lot of the events and of course for his great reactions
Seeing you dance to Saro made my day, haha
The last drop is just insane🔥
The crazy thing is this barely scratches the surface of where looping is at right now bro. The wildcards for the GBB23 were the wildest shit to come out of looping so far. Also really funny that you recognized Dharni just from his tutorials. Lmao. Dharni is one of the OG's in the modern scene.
I knew y’all would love loopstation
This is straight freestyle off the tip of the dome loopstation style!
One of the best battles in GBB history!!
