I am more of an expert on harmonies, and MB14’s harmonies on his first round showed a deep understanding of harmonic progression and contrary melody lines. He not only didn’t limit himself to octaves and fifths as you mentioned, but the lines didn’t follow the exact same pattern, moving around in ways which were harmonically pleasing yet at least partially independent. He brought out the fullness of the chords he was working with (vi-III-IV-V) and it was that fullness of harmonic sound that made this round so memorable instead of lacklustre. If his chords were less full, this round would have been a complete downer; instead, it is still one of the best musical loops I’ve ever heard in a performance.
Thanks! I’m glad to see musicality getting more appreciation in the Beatbox community because just using percussion or electronic sounds is limiting yourself from the vast library of sounds and tones that the vocal chords can produce. Even beyond just the hundreds of different types of singing.
I was first attracted to beatbox because I grew up singing in Acapella churches. My whole life I’ve been surrounded by the beautiful sounds and harmonies of the human voice. To me Beatboxing is just a further evolution of that. Beatbox and Acapella are really like brothers and they sound even better when you put them together!

The second round of MB14 is actually a cover of Toxicity from System of a Down. The "because i got high" part of his round is the second track and the part afterwards is actually the final part of Toxicity again. He is actually playing only 2 songs here.

Yeah it's a shame that lots of people seem to miss this. It ties things together. There is not much potential left to unfold, since it is exactly how Toxicity ends.

Dude, this is the first time I've seen this battle in over a month and I promise you that whole time saros first round rang through my head and ears. Its the most positively haunting sound I've ever heard 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️
Saro isn't the best beatboxer, not the best singer.. but by FAR the best ''looper''.. He really has great control over his tech; he layers things so quickly and cleanly; and every second of his performance adds something meaningful.. He's unbeatable in my mind.

I think there will never be another looper that will influence the scene and dominate like Saro did in the short period where he was competing.
He just appeared at the right time, where loopstation was already pretty advanced but with still a lot of things left to explore and even today these beats could compete with current ones

21:27 it wasnt a 3rd song it was the next part of Toxicity, he basically interrupted the routine by putting „Because I got high“ in between. If you look at the song Toxicity you can find the part at around 2:39. I do get the point that it was kinda unnecessary though
