My dear brother. Over 80 modular refineries were given licenses since first tenure of fmr president Muhammadu Buhari. WalterSmith refinery which owned Mr Wasiu Adegbete. I wonder why the poster of this video put the heading of I will not give you monopoly. The immediate past administration of president Muhammadu Buhari awarded and paid for rehabilitation of Port Harcourt and Kaduna refinery and gave support for other modular refineries and supported Dangote and BUA refineries also. This was done under PIB act and commercialization of NNOCL Why painting it as if Tinubu is bringing anything new

Meanwhile Nigerians are walking with gerry cans down the road to get a measle few gallons. This is not fair and just, for a country that produces so much oil to Shell and others. Was there ever any “monopoly” for Dangote?! 🤔
At least 28 licenses for private refineries had been issued (dating all the way back to the Obasanjo administration) BEFORE Dangote even received a refining license. Even in cement, the world’s biggest cement producers (LaFarge, Holcim, etc.) have been operating in Nigeria since the 1950s/60s. Accordingly, any whine of a Dangote “monopoly” is simply a LAZY contraption by those too inept to compete.

Our people have big problem. I understand the effect of monopoly on business/economy. But in a country where its crude oil has long been exported abroad to refine and then shipped back at such a huge expense, now we have a locally owned refinery by a person of the soil, preventing cost of exportation and tax to foreign land, employment opportunities to the locals and reduce forex all we care about is Dangote monopoly. Do we really know what we want? Dangote is a single largest employer of labor employer of labor in Nigeria as of March 2023. Who cares if Dangote refinery is the only one in the entire Africa? I will rather take that than exporting our oil to a foreign land.
Don't get me wrong, the more the merrier. And definitely I will love to see more of our people investing in the development of our dear motherland be it in the oil and gas or agric. sector. But all these ridiculous debate over a man that dare to change the curse is annoying. Oh well, thank God, we have more now. Laughable! Dangote is not restricted to selling refined products to Nigeria. What cannot be sold to Nigeria will be easily sold to many countries be it in Afica or even Europe or Latin America. Besides, Dangote has never sought monopoly. Most of the so-called new refineries received their license even before Dangote came into the oil sector. Dangote's coming was actually instrumental into pushing them to take action. So, instead of smearing Dangote, he should be praised. In all sectors where Dangote operates, he is no monopoly as he is not the only operator in any of them. Dangote being a monopoly is just an urban legend propagated by enemies of progress.

As much as it's a welcomed development, there is no known developed or developing nation that's characterized by MONOPOLY. This simply explains one of the reasons why the nation's economy is in coma. For example, it hasn't helped in prices of goods like cement, flour etc under monopolistic chokehold. The system should ban economic monopoly and encourage liberalization of the market for healthy competition. This will ultimately end price gouging and help stabilize the market price of goods.

Nations have different alternative energy transition maturity levels. Where developed nations are on the scale is different from that of developing nations. Besides, the resources and requirements for transitioning to non-fossil energy are enormous, something developing nations may not be able to meet immediately. So, there will still be much reliance on fossil fuels for some time to come... the world will still rely on fossil fuels for a while. Research puts it at 50 years or even more, which is enough time to recoup costs and make a good margin on these projects. The focus of these projects is to feed national and continental energy needs.
There is also the politics and economics of alternative energy transition. Some countries rely heavily on fossil resources for their national revenues. I am talking about powerful nations like Russia and Saudi Arabia. They would not allow a substantial part of their critical revenue streams to be cut off without a viable and sustainable replacement. It will undermine their capacity to govern which could lead to chaos. So, the world will still need to figure out how to address varying global interests related to the push for an alternative energy transition. This will take some time.
