Very powerful interview. I am from Republic of Benin and I had no idea Benin imports cement from China when we produce our own cement and when we could even get it cheaper from Nigeria. Branding cocoa products is easier said than done. Africa has been branded poorly in the west by the western media and most continents are not interested in African brands bcos they have doubts even though these brands are great in terms in quality. The campaign against Africa in the west has been very successful. Most of Dangote's products are successful within Africa and not Europe and America cos they won't allow him to grow and surpass local businesses.The only solution is for Africa to consume/patronize made in Africa services/goods and ignore western goods/services
Then Africa should get with Caricom countries to sell their products. The Caribbean import many things. From there, use the duty free access Caribbean countries have and link up the black diaspora market in Brazil, Belize, Guyana, Atlanta,Miami, Fort Lauderdale .
We can do that if the government implements it. In China, The govt is very strict with foreign products. They rather make their own or their version and sell it to their people and even when they allow foreign brands, their homemade products are more affordable and most times, not so different from the foreign brands in terms of quality. My dream is to see Africa developed before I am too old or dead. Recently, things seem to move faster. I have been reading so much about all the things going on. Very powerful interview. I am from Republic of Benin and I had no idea Benin imports cement from China when we produce our own cement and when we could even get it cheaper from Nigeria. Branding cocoa products is easier said than done. Africa has been branded poorly in the west by the western media and most continents are not interested in African brands bcos they have doubts even though these brands are great in terms in quality. The campaign against Africa in the west has been very successful. Most of Dangote's products are successful within Africa and not Europe and America cos they won't allow him to grow and surpass local businesses.The only solution is for Africa to consume/patronize made in Africa services/goods and ignore western goods/services
Then Africa should get with Caricom countries to sell their products. The Caribbean import many things. From there, use the duty free access Caribbean countries have and link up the black diaspora market in Brazil, Belize, Guyana, Atlanta,Miami, Fort Lauderdale .

They rather make their own or their version and sell it to their people and even when they allow foreign brands, their homemade products are more affordable and most times, not so different from the foreign brands in terms of quality. This can also be implemented in these African countries.
