N702 per litre for PMS retail price is only based on the direct cost of Crude Oil as your guest estimated, but you must then include cost of operations, cost to recover CAPEX, interest and principal repayments on loans taken, tax deductions, and asset depreciation, definitely a litre of PMS or any liquid fuel from the Refinery should definitely cost above N900 per litre, as we have seen with Diesel and imported PMS landing cost.

It will be a direct and indirect effect. The direct being that it will be produced locally, so logistics will be lower cheaper, while the indirect being that the production will boost our currency, which will make the Naira stronger so in relative terms cheaper, without the refinery going below it's margin of profit

People like this just spew nonsense… how can you manufacture a product domestically and sell it in US Dollars… they should be holding the government accountable to sell the product to domestic refineries in Naira

I agree. Local market should be different from international market. The price local to the local market should be done in naira.

This guy is supposed to be an expert. Why can't he do simple mathematics. In that one barrel there are other heavier products like diesel, aviation fuel, kerosine, engine oil, bitumen that are more much much expensive that petrol. If you factor in the costs of all other products, the petrol should be well cheaper than 700 naira

These guys in tie just spew rubbish. You are converting Nigeria crude oil from Naira to dollar for local refinery transactions. This is why it is not good to cram teacher's note in your exams. They are trying to fit theory into practical. Awon olodo.

The analyst got his calculation wrong. It s true a barrel of crude gives you 159 liters. However, a barrel of crude has other components. Pms is one of the component and which accounts for 40 percent of the cost/quantity component of oil. So that means 80 dollars multiple 1500 naira divide by 159 lites and then multiple by 40 percent. This gives you N300.
