Great video! As a space trucker with many dedicated cargo ships all the way up to a C2, with a new hauling missions, I find myself using the Hull A quite a bit. Even if it is a bit small, I feel the interior is what really speaks to me about the ship. It makes me feel like an authentic solo space trucker.
I couldn't agree more. I absolutely love my Hull A. Like you said, the interior is beautifully designed. I don't understand why Farrister kept saying the bathroom is small. It's huge compared to lots of other ships (i.e. Connie). Great for quick, small hauling contracts. It's so easy and practical to load up containers. Plus with the current instability with servers lately I wouldn't dare use my Connie or C2 for the larger contracts.
@coldReactive From what I understand each cargo spindle can be retracted 1 by 1. So you will be able to deploy the top, left and right, but leave the bottom one retracted. So it should be landable if you leave the bottom on "in".
A bit of constructive criticism. Can we also get a segment about job/role performance after combat performance? It would be great to know how these ships stack up to other ships in a similar role. You mentioned it in the summary but I think it would be good to hear how good a hauler is at hauling, a miner is at mining, or a salvager is at salvaging in a dedicated video segment. Love the ship reviews. You're the best at them.
Agreed, could go into more details, like how the Hull-C can't land with the spindels deployed so it's more of a space hauler, or how the Orion can't sustain itself in orbit so is only meant for space mining, while a mole and arrastra's benefit is that they CAN mine in-orbit still, it would be a good segment to include details like that.
@@Xeonzs You shouldn't need to be told such specifics, its been discussed and explained fully multiple times, if your too bone idle to go look, well, sucks being you
Got to wonder why we're all here watching a review if we apparently know all this information already. Some folk just have to run their mouth before thinking, hmm?
Another outstanding video. When the Hull A first came out, I reviewed it very favorably. But I didn't have a lot of actual use for it then, so I melted it. Now that cargo hauling has really taken off, I decided to purchase another Hull A. I've found it to be an exceptional ship for making lots of aUEC and reputation by stacking small cargo contracts. It's not hard to make around 200k an hour with the Hull A, once you figure out some good routes.
A group of people running a Hull A + 1-3 Vultures for Salvage is an awesome little industrial game loop. The cargo ship just flies around to each party member who says they are full, then goes and offloads. Rinse and repeat. Hull A & RAFT are perfect for the Vulture's 1 SCU crates. It's honestly shocking how well it all works haha.
As a cargo hauler, it is fantastic, and it can carry you through to the high levels of rep missions. It can also fit under the awnings of the processing centres outside cargo elevators for easier unloading. It can also be rented and is very affordable. The one gripe i had about it was the interior doors. You actually have to click the mouse button to open them up instead of just pressing the f key. It breaks the flow of traversing the ship.
Another excellent video as always! I started playing SC back in 3.17 thanks to yours and morph's videos introducing me with these in depth reviews! I'd love to see you do an updated review on the RAFT!
Pre 3.24 the Hull A didn't have a big advantage having it's cargo outside, now with 3.24 it makes loading and unloading easier. The benefits of the external cargo grid can't be ignored. Very cool little ship.
While many like to think of themselves as space truckers I like to think of myself as a space cargo plane pilot in smaller ships and in the bigger ones like my Hull C I like to think of myself as a space cargo ship captian.
Hull A is a great and well made ship. I think it should be a starter pack ship. Would make heck of a starter ship for new players who likes to start with cargo hauling career^^
This ship might look industial but it is very well laid out,the interior is compact yet not cramp and the separate component area and living areas with even a closed off bathroom all of which is closed off from the cockpit, some of this might be very helpful when fire comes into play on ships.I like this wide panoramic wrap around view in the pilot's seat, yes it could be lower and higher but overall it falls in line with Misc cockpits.I was hoping for more like the prospector cockpit,in my opinion one of the best in the game.I do like the exterior loading this is definitely faster and that is important when your on a moon by yourself or mining facility loading gold and trying to hurry to avoid pirating.Great video and thank you for your time and all the effort you put into your videos.Take care and see you all in the verse.
I love the hull A. It's fun to fly and I think looks cool. The interior living area feels very comfortable. The only issue I have with any of the Hull ships is that pirates and have cargo real easy and there's not much you can do to stop them
Gracias por el review. Lástima que aun espero por la Hull B y Hull D. Me parece que estas dos naves ofrecian la mejor relacion entre espacio de carga y precio.
Best ship for introductory hauling. It’s so easy to organize cargo with the outside grids, but not too many grids to get confusing like a hull b will have
A benefit of the C1 over the Hull A when it comes to cargo is that you can fit about 40 to 45 more SCU on the C1 with a little effort. And only made possibe because it has an on-board tractor beam. Something the Hull A does not have (and probably does not need imho). I just bought the Hull A in game and hope to start using it for some hauling missions. The ease of loading/unloading is very appealing.
@@Farrister I can't take the credit. TH-cam is a wonderful thing. But I can confirm that you can fit a full 32 SCU container in the middle aisle. And at least 1 more 8 SCU container behind that one. I saw a friend get 2 scu containers through the airlocked doors but it was tricky with all the invisible collision points. The C1's tractor beam takes some getting used to so having a friend in the rear helps as well.
Liberator plus Vulture or Prospector plus Hull A parked out in the middle of nowhere in Pyro seems like a great base of operations for a solo/small group player.
Thanks for the nice summary as always. I recently started playing the game for real and your videos have been very helpful (been a backer since the beginning) but I've played nothing else for a week now. However I'm currently in a dilemma - making aUEC is slow right now in my Avenger Titan doing a mix of different contracts and I've somehow saved up about 600K. Does it makes sense for me to drop 1.7M on the Hull A once I have enough or just wait until I have enough aUEC for the C1 Spirit (which is ultimately what I want because I really enjoy varied types of gameplay, it's also quite the looker)?
I think it's a cute hauler. I'm going to work towards one in game, it's be nice to have around. I can park it in a station, go out with my Vulture to scrap some panels, dump all the cargo into the station, and then haul it off to sell with the Hull A. I think that would be a chill little game loop.
That's exactly what I do. If you extra pack the Vulture's cargo area using the walking lane, you can easily get over 32scu in a run. Two runs offloaded to the station and then just throw it all on my Hull A, and sell it for a huge payout considering the panel loop has no investment. One of the best money makers available.
Farrister, I now own an Argo Raft, having upgraded a Cutlass Black Pledge to get it. I also own a Hull A and most of my 'fleet' is cargo oriented, But I do not (except for in game bought) own any of the larger Cargo ships. The Raft is my larges pledge owned ship. The Hull A is a great ship, the only gripe I have is with regard to it's landing as it seems the 'weight spread' of the landing gear is very narrow, and I have had the Hull A fall over on to it's side!! LoL.
Hi @Farrister, Thanks for the great vid, as always! ❤ But I'd have a concern: since a while there's a low-frequency (bass) humming whenever you're opening your mic. That doesn't seem to be your voice itself as the noise stays between your words and I didn't notice it before. Did you change your equipment recently? (Can't really tell since when, sorry. I appreciate the fact that exterior cargo storage is more convenient to work with, but personally it just feels messy and so much less secure. So I'm not a fan of the Hull series, though maybe that would/will change if I ever actually start playing this game instead of just consuming massive amounts of videos about it haha. Love your style of ship review though, you make it very easy to follow for someone who doesn't actively play the game.
Been looking for and haven't found a good comparison of medium hauling ships like the Hull A, C1, and Raft for the new hauling missions vs old trading routes
The sole problem with the Hull A is that since the cargo is stored outside, we cannot overcharge with additional free floating boxes like I can for the C1 (I was able to Haul around 100SCUs in a C1... took a while to remove the boxes with the ship's tractor beam though)
I like this ship, I only have one problem with it. Even without scanning, it is very spectacular whether I ship goods or not. Although, if I am attacked by a blind pirate, then I have a chance.
