My inner space pirate instantly though "oh the brig is obviously for when you use the tractor beam to drag a small ship into the cargo bay and you can stick its unlucky inhabitants in there while you loot their ship for all its got then salvage the remains"

Once we have Pyro and several other systems, then you will need the large/Cap ships to traverse these large systems. Stanton is one of the smallest systems in the game and designed small for testing. With Pyro on it's way and more systems coming, a ship like the Ironclad is almost a must have for a Firefly/Serenity nomadic style of play. Having a very flexible jack of most trades, depending on what you put inside the 1500 SCU hold is great. Whether it be a fighter for bounties, a ROC/Prospector/vulture, a C8R/Nursa or any combination. Myself, I want to do the long haul cargo runs and while doing that, explore opportunities to discover derelicts, rescue others, scan for resources etc. The Ironclad has extreme long range, 4 large shields and armored. I really hope CIG goes the rout of individual bunk rooms like the Corsair. The Ironclad could also be a mobile central hub for a land base, that can be moved from one resource rich environment to another. I feel that I will be able to pick up almost any mission in my journeys through the Deep dark of the verse.
I love the way this ship looks as well FYI, Ironclad = Fatterpillar Ironclad Assault = Angry Fatterpillar One thing the Liberator should get, is the same kind of manufacturing station the Angry Fatterpillar gets, but for small ships, not land vehicles.
Technically, xxs vehicles and xxs share components, so the Ironclad is capable of manufacturing ship components as long as tbey are size 0 or size 1 it would seem. QnA will hopefully detail this to us for certain.
It sold me when i realized it could fit a Vulture with plenty of room to spare inside. This ship compliments every aspect i currently enjoy in this game and the gameplay that i look forward to in the future. It is by far the most expensive purchase ive ever made for a video game and i have no regrets. Ive played SC so much that they earned this one from me! Just wish the loaner was better than just a Caterpillar.
Yes but only if you have a retractable roof, which makes the base Ironclad potentially the more versatile ship for so much gameplay.. it’s what worries me about the Assault and why we need the Q&A on the ship asap.
@@Libertas_P77 agreed. I got the base Ironclad, Im not sold on the Assault being worth it, if it doesnt have the roof door, it should be cheaper than the base not more haha
@@JamestheKilljoy Agreed, I got trigger happy and pledged for the Assault before I realised it might not have the tractors or retractable roof.. if it doesn’t, I’ll be switching that out for the base Ironclad, as it will be the superior ship. As you say, should be charging more, not less!
@@Libertas_P77the thing about the assault is that the vehicle component bay will likely be able to craft s1 and s2 missiles which means you can carry, outfit and resupply a ludicrous number of both combat furies and even if the roof don’t open, furies swarming out the big front hole will look like tie fighters leaving a star destroyer. Plus those jump seats for your pilots..
The largest selling point of the Assault for me was "component fabrication" - looking at future plans, the ability to repair, or craft things aboard a ship is going to be at a minimum a convenience, and at worse a necessity (depending where you are, and if that place offers even low-level crafting ability at all), and IIRC there's only a handful of ships we know are supposed to have any kind of repair/crafting facility aboard, pretty much restricted to sub-capital and up size ships. (currently, probably temporarily only, on the Vulture) We already know storms will be a thing that will "keep players from just using ships" for everything; and the addition of "roads" between a main facility and it's extended outposts. Storms and roads combined, being able to drop into a hot-zone and operate a few ground vehicles out of an Assault sounds like it's going to make ground/FPS gameplay a fantastic money printer when all systems are implemented. And yes, blades; with 4x remote turrets the Assault + Blades should be capable of offering at least minimum self-protection in the event an AI ship shows up to harass it. (not to mention, if AI crew become a thing, assigning them to the manned turrets will further boost it's defense capability.) Detachable command module: Despite the claims it's "only for emergencies" it's really going to be a great mobility enhancer, being it's own ship that can operate after the main ship has landed; and I hope the CM will retain the tractor beam on the Assault as that will allow it to retain some use of the top-loading cargo bay by letting the CM function as a parasite loader. (Or if CIG find a way to allow small vehicles like the Mule to lift at least 16scu containers.) "32 Drop seats" so, honestly I wasn't expecting that part, and I really don't care about it; I'm guessing that is conceptually there to allow the vehicle crews a place to strap in for landings; since 4+1 Nova tanks would be 9 (12) crew alone. That leaves about 20 drop seats for additional people that could easily be a single drop-team, or mix in a few extra engineers for added repair of ground vehicles. But, big butt! - 32 Drop seats, and the classification "heavy dropship" tells me there MIGHT be an armory somewhere on the assault that won't be on the standard cargo. (I'd guess it'll be up front in that center "room" along side about 12 or so drop seats.) TLDR: The Drake Ironclad is the first true competitor to the C2/M2 class of ship, while the C2/M2 will likely always be faster and better handling, and more (pilot) armed ships for their size, the Ironclad is on paper, better in almost every way for the same function; carries more cargo or more vehicles (Assault and Cargo), and the assault comes with dedicated facilities to extend ground operations, where the C2/M2 are just going to drop and scoot. And for the (Current price), it's easily worth it if you are looking for a ship to do what a C2/M2 can do. On the note of "32 jump seats" - CIG have said all ships will have life-support systems designed to handle the expected amount of people aboard a ship, so, should that indicate that drop-ship class ships contain extra/more powerful life-support systems with expectation that they can/will support larger groups of people aboard than just the crew? I'd really like to know that a ship with a crew of 6 getting 32 dedicated seats for "passengers" will also have a life-support system that's upgraded to handle that change. (As an aside, the "rearm refuel" garage, despite everything in the marketing saying it's for supporting GROUND vehicles, I have my suspicions that snubs and very small fighters will be capable of landing in the garage and getting rearmed and repaired; even if it's just a Fury or P52/72, that's a massive extension to how much of a threat a fully supported Ironclad Assault could be while just, landed; I assume the Assault is likely the test-bed for CIG to start testing "carriers" since it contains everything it would need to function as a very small one)
Well having a ship that can do multiple things means more money. And you don't have to worry about switching ships. Besides I would think if someone is buying a ship and it's going to be home I would want my home to be able to take as much jobs as it can.
Hangar size is hangar size. What people can fit on a pad they will. We dont Get to Make Rules. A diferent way to say it is The liberator will have an easier time supporting multiple hornets and can carry a lot. the ironclad will have a difficult time supporting hornets but could hold a few.
No. It’s a brig. Go through the information points on the Drake Ironclad web page. It clearly says brig. And, this makes sense. This is meant to be a Pirate ship. You take smaller ships in, the internal S2 turret is to handle prisoners and you put them…. In the brig. 100% Pirate ship.
@@charliemcawesome5012 well if you look at the latest inside star citizen ironclad is Rad from around 6.27 min .they say its a secure storage . could be different on the webpage OFC .would not be the first time 😉 and a brig is that not something more for a bounty hunter ..taking pirates to prison ?? i thought pirates take no prisoners ..what would they do with them ? they would either release you after they got what they wanted or kill you ..but why holding you captive? ...you would need to feed the prisoners you know ...and in the case you hold me as an innocent in that pirate brig .nothing prevents me to hold backspace and start anew in my home location . not so with a pirate who will turn up in jail
4:39 if you were to be looking at the ship from the back looking to the front left of the standard ironclad, what is that seat with what looks like some type of functional display sitting in front of it, maybe secondary flying position like the command standing position on the Carrack who knows
It's a mobile ground base and pirate transport so having cells works well for it. Bounties ect locked up while you collect cargo and transport everything out.
I don't believe CIG said it was a brig up front. They just called it a secure area. My guess is it will work like all other 'secure areas' in cargo ships where it will be invisible to scans. One question I have, and I asked in the Q&A thread, but I'm worried it'll get washed away and not answered: Can the tractor beam gantries/beams/whatever in the Ironclad be retracted? If not, that will make it very difficult to safely land a medium fighter in there the way you can land one on the Liberator. Or if it the spacing is wide enough, it might be okay for one medium fighter, but no more.
It could also be for boarding large ships and taking the crew alive instead of ... "dead men tell no tales" Or bounties if you have some Hawks in the hold.
The "brig" you mention is meant to be secure cargo. It will have tighter security with the "cages" being able to be locked so that hired on help can't access it. Also, the spec sheet says it will have 3 size 2 tractor beams. I bet that port side station on the front will be the controls for the third tractor beam, which I think will be forward facing to grab boxes and put them just inside for the overhead tractor beams to stack.
I honestly cannot see why people compare the Liberator to the Ironclad almost completely different roles. Other than transport of ground vehicles 🚗 😅. I definitely picked up the base version. I’m a cargo/passenger transport kinda person 🤣. This is gonna be such a great looking ship. I agree I was hoping for a small medical room. Awesome video thanks. 👍
I dove in big this sale,Melted about 1000 in usd and upgraded a lot,to get as many upgrades at war bond prices on record to get up to the ships I really wanted, also so if I need to, I can go back into my sales history and purchase with in store credits or new money the ships I purchased at war bond price with LTI or 120 months insurance.Pretty much every ship in my fleet is LTI ,The Ironclads so nice I am a huge fan of drake from the Cutter to the Caterpillar,I love how real they make them feel with all the detail for the full effect.First when it popped up on the first days of sale the Pulses both the LX and the base Because they had LTI and only 25 war bond I got two multi packs with one each variant in them for 48 and 5 more reg Pulses they came with the extra paint at 25 each, then got the new Origin G12A concept.Purchased warbond duel Ursa pack with one of each base and Medical, then upgraded the ones I had already that's 2 more,so they can be parked on every large ship I have. Then I war bond purchased the new Sabre Firebird with the Ash cloud paint, then upgraded my Razor LTI to the Apollo Triage. Then an upgrade from a Caterpillar LTI to a Ironclad transport,Then from a Nomad LTI all the way up to a Ironclad Assault and then bought but did not apply the Liberator upgrade to the Assault for an additional 20 dollars just in case or I can always melt it, plus 2 Dauntless paints for both the Ironclads. Also a Lynx LTI to a F7C Hornet MKII with the paint pack. Then upgraded from a Caterpillar to a Perseus if I end up not wanting it I will us it to get to a Idiris or a Kraken. Then Upgraded from my 400i to a Polaris and got the MPUV trio pack and upgraded one of those to another tractor ship all got the red paint in the pack and the personnel carrier version upgraded to a cyclone RN.I have been saving for 8 months for this sale and wanted to get my feet wet into the capital ship zone,I have several large ships including my red alert Carrack,Merchantman,Orion,Arrastra,Corsair,Caterpillar,All three of the Zeus's,Mercury Star runner red alert,Expanse,Crucible,Genesis Starliner,Eclipse,Vulcan,SRV,Reclaimer, A lot of smaller ships like the Cutlass Blue and Red and the Cutter,Prospector Rambler,F8C Lightning,3-Pieces C8R for the larger ships,Sabre Comet,Gladius,P72 Archimedes,Legionnaire ,Reliant Tana,Vulture ,Avenger Titan,Roc and a bunch of ground vehicals. It has taken since 2015 to get this fleet to what it is today and when the gold standard comes for the Freelancers I will probably get them as well I love the Max.This game has become one of my favorite hobbies and is so much fun to play and explore and it's not even out of alpha.great video and good work thank you for the time and effort you put into it see you next time.
It’s what I picture a sci fi space freighter to look like. I think they nailed it with starlancer/galaxy/arastra/Ironclad. The newer design language is great. Brig? Who takes prisoners? Needs med bed.
This is my new fav but you'd should have a squad of fighters guarding this thing it may be beefy but it's a beefy brick support craft a requirement IMHO
Besides needing less crew, the biggest advantage to the liberator I can think of is the dedicated cargo area. Even full of vehicles and ships it still has 400scu available. CIG did hit out of the park with the Drake design. Awesome looking ships.
"Have they been drinking? What's going on there?" Yes. This is Drake, after all. Would anyone bat an eye if in a future update players could pour rum strait into any Drake ship's quantum tanks and the ship would run without a hiccup? I do agree, the Ironclad is quite a lovely space brick. There is one boring but very effective way to keep the Ironclad from assaulting the niche protection of ships like the Liberator or Kraken; calibrating their operational overhead. This is not just about how much you shell out for these competitors at New Deal but also how many players/NPCs/blades the ships demand and the cost of component replacement when engineering gameplay finally arrives. It's fine--and even beneficial--for Anvil and Drake to muscle in on each other's territory *if* the extra bulk from versatility appropriately costs more. This doesn't have to be dialed in the instant both ships are out the gate as long as it does get dialed in. Limiting an Ironclad to working as a fulltime Liberator should be more expensive all around. One these concepts eventually move from being on paper to our hangars, the Liberator would do well to be garnished with some purpose-built perks. Likewise, it's hard to imagine running a Kraken as cheaply and easily as an Ironclad pocket carrier.
I despise the command module. They made a legit bridge and it's in a significantly better spot to fly the ship from but we can't use it to fly the ship. When they have to tell us we can't fly the ship from there that means they know we should be able to and they made a bad design choice on purpose
Ya a bit too bad really, Gimme the option to use the bridge. It's prolly the main reason I don't wanna pick up this ship I'm not a fan of that thing hanging off the side being the mandatory pilot station ..
10$ ccu from a prowler, all i got. When its released i think about it, not buying any expensive jpeg for the unkown release, enough of what i already look at everyday wondering if i will see it one day. Also will be really mad if this releases before the Liberator that we are waiting for what? 3 years? And many others for much more..... even the Kraken thats said will have assets took from this so this will be made before the Kraken.
@Spaceman-PIN the Ironclad was nicknamed the Fatterpillar by the community because of how big this ship was compared to the Catterpillar because it has a larger cargo space
The Drake Ironclad is a '6 person multicrew freighter', an the opening roof, (not on the assault) which is the right decision, the assault doesn't need it, equally, there needs to be a significant difference for it to actually be a variant, has a very nice industrial vibe to it, the assaults colour and texturing is more appealing imo and overall its a decent all rounder, and i would guess 2/3 yrs before it drops, CIG has a lot of content to deliver in 2024/25 before we need another new ship. A nice cheap CCU for the time being.
I completely disagree, why does the assault not need the retracting roof? It still shares the exact same design language of the roof with numbered sections that look like they should retract.
@@TheHashtagSquad2K15 Yeah well, forget about the Ironclad....im quite sure CIG have, if you really want an opening roof get the freighter, there's little between the two.....we'll continue the discussion in 26/7
@TheHashtagSquad2K15 because if your going into a battle scenario, why would you want the roof open? Even if you had ships onboard surely they would be out fighting? The same as if your in a tank you button down the hatches.
@@PIN-o7 I suppose you should forget about the Liberator as well as the Kraken which don’t have covered pads then…..in general getting a ship out is going to be easier from the top. There’s no point to remove the function. You could launch the ships before you take fire or just don’t open the top in a hot zone. Not like it matters you have a shield anyways.
I really like your use case as a portable garage and storage unit! I plan to move vehicles by C2; however, I find myself lacking a big cargo hauler. I like the Hull C a lot, but I can't take it out of safe places easily. I am very much considering the Ironclad instead. Perhaps even the Assault because I plan to expore and establish mining stations. The fewer trips back, the better, I need long range, and it saves me from building some kind of vehicle garage at every outpost. I'll sit on the CCUs for a while, Ive got time...
@@PIN-o7 I like the feel of those big MISC bridges with the captain's chair in them. I understand the dread though, knowing you are basically defenseless carrying a huge capital investment. It is not a stress-free experience. 😬
@@JL-rj9fl love the bridge hense why we own the oddysey right! But yes its kinda scary knowing your carrying much much space money and have little defense.
I thought Drake was often all about armor, but thick and not high tech armor (suppose to later have an affect on how ship weapon damage is applied). Cutter is suppose to be fairly armored for a starter.
I for one really need to know what features the Ironclad Assault does NOT have versus the base Ironclad. Retractable roof and tractor beams missing on a 1000+ SCU cargo ship would be a deal breaker for me. It would be horrible to load/unload and therefore use for anything but this niche ‘ground assault’ use case, and would relegate it to a vastly inferior ship. Otherwise though, it’s what I’m looking for which is a defensive and offensive armoured cargo ship that could also be used for.. ahem.. less legal cargo activities.
It's not a cargo ship. It's a ground assault ship. I think it is missing those things because there wouldn't be a use for them. It has space for tonks. I just don't think it has that modularity or multi-role functionality. I understand that a cargo ship with more functionality is attractive. I think that's just the downside of this ship.
Drake is my least favorite style but this ship has so much utility I have one. This will clearly be the best cargo ship that can handle ground locations for trading other than the Merchantman which also isn't my style.
You were on top of this one lickety-split, picked up a WB CCU for this one just in case it can be a good support ship to my Pioneers. Be well and stay safe Steve! ✊🏽
Still have no clue why people thought one would have an opening roof and the other wouldn’t. Never made any sense to why CIG would do that when they never have before.
Probably bc it wasn't super obvious in any of the pictures and some people like to gravitate towards criticism, but CIG confirmed that both roofs retract.
Well, you know how people love stuffing ships inside of ships in this game so just get use to the idea of people hauling whatever fits in the Ironclad.
Ironclad is a great Pirate ship that makes me question why Drake doesnt have their own Argo-Cargo, especially given that they developed the groud based Mule. Who pirates on the ground?
I don't see it as breaking the rules. There are already multiple ships from multiple manufacturers that fill similar roles, some are better than others at particular tasks. I think the Iron Chad fills a multi purpose role that is like the M2, and the Liberator. It won't be as good as the liberate at carrying the sheer number of ships/vehicles, but it can do the job if it needs to, to an extent. It does seem to be a better version of the M2, but the M2 is going to fly better in atmo.
I agree, I like the Liberator as well as the Ironclad, they are both very good ships, similar, but not the same goals. Anything you put in the Ironclad takes away from the cargo, Not so with a Liberator and it can carry all types in/on one ship. The Ironclad Standard can Not carry heavy vehicles and maybe 1 - 3 small ships, small vehicles or combination while losing lots of cargo space.
Favorite ship design so far. Almost got it. Had a talk with my inner self and realized the liberator still fits my reality and what i want to do in the game so decided to pass. It hurts because it looks so awesome and is a relatively decent price. Will ne glad when its out of the storefront so i won't be tempted anymore.
It's a beast, I figure u can put the command module inside aswell. I sat on the fence like a fat bird, Drake design is awesome, having a repairbay and a place where u can craft some is great, like the paint sceme on the assault aswell. I kept the liberator, I think it will recieve more upgrades then what it is now. Great desection. Greets from Holland o7
yes im well aware they are different ships. Also the lib cannot just spawn a ship when it feels like it, thats ridiculous. Sure you could slap 16 nova tanks on it. Good luck preventing them blowing up with out clipping or crashing in to each other. Also if im a pirate and in a cutty blue that makes the cutty blue a pirate ship, just because a ship can do something doesnt mean it is what it can do. The pirate catterpillar is still just a caterpillar.
so, if you take the command module to escape. Can another command module come take over to keep your ship? I love the look of drake, I'm looking forward to seeing this in game, and I might upgrade my galaxy to this one.
If the liberator was a little bigger I might like it but as it stands its so small I really don't care for it at all. If they're really worried about it competing with the ironclad they should just make it a little bigger.
I dont see why we cant have multiple slightly different ships from different manufacturers doing similar roles. (I'm mainly ranting at other opinions rather than yours) Why cant we have a Drake Starfarer? Or both a Liberator and Ironclad if they both can carry small ships? Why cant we have a Prospector but from Anvil, with extra turrets? We have combat ships from vastly different manufacturers falling under the same roles (heavy fighter, bomber etc). Why cant we have industrial ships doing that too? Variety is the spice of life. Even if the Liberator and Ironclad were exactly equally "as good", thats still better than only having 1 of them. Choose which you like. This is also why i dont get the spiel people do every ship release about "Mole made Prospectors OBSOLETE", or "Starlancer just KILLED the Freelancer and Connie". No they didnt. Its just more variety and options with slightly different specs. And some ships are MEANT to be "better" than others, especially due to price point / crafting requirements. Its GOOD to have better and worse ships. We dont want a homogenized game where every single ship is a carbon copy, or where there is only ONE ship per role. I want to see a Vanduul salvage ship. Or Mirai mini carrier a la Polaris. Why the hell not?
@Baleur I agree 💯. I always try to have an open mind with ships in game. For example my least favourite ship is cutlass steel, but if I were to review it, I would still strive to find the positives . It easy to criticise anyone can do it, but to find positives and apply them is much more rewarding imo.
Yes you could do that sure. But your taking up ship real estate vehicle and cargo wise. Which would get used more a brig or a actual med bay? My monies on med bay. But I do get your point, just my personal preference.
For every vehicle/ship you put in there you lose cargo space. So lack of a med bed should be considered because you lose space for cargo, other vehicles, and may limit a ship you can carry.
@@PIN-o7pretty sure it has a dedicated spot for a ground vehicle so if I was really concerned I'd just take the Nursa. No medical facilities is pretty on brand for a company with no escape pods 🤷
Not an exciting ship, a kinda dewalt addition, ive CCU's to both, but not sure i'll be inspired to want one, more excited over the potential of the Raft. I think its release will be a lacklustre affair, far to much happening over the next 2 yrs, and more exciting ships released over that period. But i agree over the colour scheme....it works out of the box..........i still have Concierge paints though. IC is another ship, yet not an exciting one
@@PIN-o7 there's only three other ships in the game that they could have did this to Hercules, Carack, 890 J U N K. Two out of five. So far is not unique in my opinion
@@Metro2Metro sure, thats fine then. just as long as you got your trivial point across right? The bmm has one too, so its not that unique..bravo dude *slow clap*
This was a hard pass for me I spent a full 24 hours considering it but when I weighed it up it's just not worth it. The main reason is basically it is very expensive caterpillar because that's the loan until the it comes out(and that will be years). Plus crewing this will be very expensive.
the turret inside is for forcing the crew of the ship u swallowed to surrender. then u put the crew in the brig at the front for later. isnt it obvious what this ship is for?
Pilot positioning makes zero sense just like the cat. Having the pilot seat on the port side means you can see f**k all on the starboard side.. when have you ever seen a cargo ship (or any other ship for that matter) with the pilot chair mounted on a pod on the port side with no view to the starboard? And people love it. i just dont get it. Mount the pod at the center top, or make it flyable from the loading bridge imo

Didn't CIG announce recently they are reducing the size of Pyro?
and it has a medi bed... oh wait i could have swore it hand one .. urg bummer :(
I love the way this ship looks as well
FYI, Ironclad = Fatterpillar
Ironclad Assault = Angry Fatterpillar
One thing the Liberator should get, is the same kind of manufacturing station the Angry Fatterpillar gets, but for small ships, not land vehicles.
If it fits a vulture with room it’ll fit two gladii plus a couple missile furies in the back garage and we’ve got a pirate mothership
You can have a medbed with a Nursa. I'm thinking the Brigs will be like Sea of Thieves for unruly crew.
Yes you can have the ursa or c8r possibly, but those vehicles come at the cost of the ships real estate in terms of cargo and space etc.
I hated it for an hour , then we bought it .
nice!
Me too
The largest selling point of the Assault for me was "component fabrication" - looking at future plans, the ability to repair, or craft things aboard a ship is going to be at a minimum a convenience, and at worse a necessity (depending where you are, and if that place offers even low-level crafting ability at all), and IIRC there's only a handful of ships we know are supposed to have any kind of repair/crafting facility aboard, pretty much restricted to sub-capital and up size ships. (currently, probably temporarily only, on the Vulture)
We already know storms will be a thing that will "keep players from just using ships" for everything; and the addition of "roads" between a main facility and it's extended outposts.
(not to mention, if AI crew become a thing, assigning them to the manned turrets will further boost it's defense capability.)
Detachable command module: Despite the claims it's "only for emergencies" it's really going to be a great mobility enhancer, being it's own ship that can operate after the main ship has landed; and I hope the CM will retain the tractor beam on the Assault as that will allow it to retain some use of the top-loading cargo bay by letting the CM function as a parasite loader. (Or if CIG find a way to allow small vehicles like the Mule to lift at least 16scu containers.)
"32 Drop seats" so, honestly I wasn't expecting that part, and I really don't care about it; I'm guessing that is conceptually there to allow the vehicle crews a place to strap in for landings; since 4+1 Nova tanks would be 9 (12) crew alone.
(I'd guess it'll be up front in that center "room" along side about 12 or so drop seats.)
TLDR: The Drake Ironclad is the first true competitor to the C2/M2 class of ship, while the C2/M2 will likely always be faster and better handling, and more (pilot) armed ships for their size, the Ironclad is on paper, better in almost every way for the same function; carries more cargo or more vehicles (Assault and Cargo), and the assault comes with dedicated facilities to extend ground operations, where the C2/M2 are just going to drop and scoot.
I would absolutely love having the flexibility to pilot the ship from the command deck but other than that it’s a fantastic concept!
A diferent way to say it is
The liberator will have an easier time supporting multiple hornets and can carry a lot. the ironclad will have a difficult time supporting hornets but could hold a few.
the secure storage is not a brig ...its special cargo
They don't call it a brig, but they do say it would be very hard to get in OR out of 😅
The "brig" you mention is meant to be secure cargo. It will have tighter security with the "cages" being able to be locked so that hired on help can't access it.
Also, the spec sheet says it will have 3 size 2 tractor beams. I bet that port side station on the front will be the controls for the third tractor beam, which I think will be forward facing to grab boxes and put them just inside for the overhead tractor beams to stack.
ah ha ! thanks for correction thats very interesting
The Brig is in there because it's "not" a Pirate mother ship

I like that different manufacturers have similar role ships but in a different style.
Yes the dedicated cargo for the LIB is definitely a huge plus imo.
I peeld through rain gear and 2 layers to get to my phone to subscribe 😄
It was yourF1 snowplow analogy haha.
This guy speaks my language.
Wow, that's quite the effort, cheers!
The owner of the liberator can as well fill its internal bays with cargo....... that doesnt mean the ship should be nerfed to not let them do it.
I despise the command module. They made a legit bridge and it's in a significantly better spot to fly the ship from but we can't use it to fly the ship. When they have to tell us we can't fly the ship from there that means they know we should be able to and they made a bad design choice on purpose
Ya a bit too bad really,
Gimme the option to use the bridge.
Makes sense, it's a common dilemma that's for sure.

I agree, the assault doesn't need a retracting roof.

Drake Steel also has heavy armor ^_^ It's not their first foray.
I'll sit on the CCUs for a while, Ive got time...
i too like the HULL C, what i dont like about it is the overwhelming sense of doom, when im sat in the bloody thing lol!
@@PIN-o7 I raise a toast: to captain's chairs and mail slots! 🍻
I thought Drake was often all about armor, but thick and not high tech armor (suppose to later have an affect on how ship weapon damage is applied). Cutter is suppose to be fairly armored for a starter.
That's the way I always understood it as well. I don't know why they started with the paper thin armor bs.
Got both variants. I just love it!
Hell frickin yeah! Me too, me too!
You were on top of this one lickety-split, picked up a WB CCU for this one just in case it can be a good support ship to my Pioneers. Be well and stay safe Steve! ✊🏽
Bruce you are to kind buddy. Thankyou
The cutter has a armor windshield
Who pirates on the ground?
ground pirates? LOL i jest, good point!
Good points!
Roof does retract, they said so in the Q&A.
I just want to say thank you for your content
I couldnt even imagine playing without listening to one of your videos in the background!
Thankyou paulus_1233 I really appreciate it buddy.
Favorite ship design so far. Almost got it. Had a talk with my inner self and realized the liberator still fits my reality and what i want to do in the game so decided to pass. It hurts because it looks so awesome and is a relatively decent price.
Will ne glad when its out of the storefront so i won't be tempted anymore.
i feel your pain! Must fight temptation..must not give in! ha ha I dont blame you buddy
It's a beast, I figure u can put the command module inside aswell. I sat on the fence like a fat bird,
Drake design is awesome, having a repairbay and a place where u can craft some is great, like the paint sceme on the assault aswell.
I kept the liberator, I think it will recieve more upgrades then what it is now. Great desection. Greets from Holland o7
Hey casy! o7
Im hoping the front has plating that makes it harder to scan.
Liberator can carry 16 Nova tanks. It can also SPAWN small ships. Ironclad is totally different.
yes im well aware they are different ships.
I love the look of drake, I'm looking forward to seeing this in game, and I might upgrade my galaxy to this one.
yes!
The assaul`s roof does slide and open.
If the liberator was a little bigger I might like it but as it stands its so small I really don't care for it at all. If they're really worried about it competing with the ironclad they should just make it a little bigger.
Clear out those mules and stuff in a nursa and you got your medbay.
I dont see why we cant have multiple slightly different ships from different manufacturers doing similar roles.
(I'm mainly ranting at other opinions rather than yours)
Why cant we have a Drake Starfarer?
It easy to criticise anyone can do it, but to find positives and apply them is much more rewarding imo.
stop it with the medbed. just put a URSA medivac or C8R Pisces in the ship and your good to go.
