Great overview. This is what I always wanted the Freelancer to be. I love the combination of vehicles and cargo you can take with you. At the same time, I'm glad it doesnt step on the toes of the Connie Taurus too much, as that is a nicer ship for zero-g cargo work.
I personally love the current size of the Freelancer. Having a whole new misc ship with a similar philosophy only bigger though, that’s just icing on the cake.
@@jlarry1 Yeah, the Freelancer is great. It was my original pledge (the original standard one). I just finished a CCU chain to get it back, and I've upgraded it to the Freelance MAX as I did back in 2014. I really like mining gameplay (including quite a bit of ground mining), so I got it for the great vehicle hauling capability (and presumably efficiency based on how it's described in lore).
you can snugly fit 475 SCU of cargo into the max by stacking crates up to 3 on the elevator cargo area, 15 upright 2s on the catwalk, a 16 between 2 4s with another 2 4s placed against the back wall, fill out the back grid, place a 16 longways on one side, and as far back as you can, place another 4 between the 16 and the wall, repeat that last process three times but once you're past the small davit in the ceiling, replace the 2 2s on the top corners with 2 4s and a 2, once you get to the back there'll be enough room for 2 more 4s, 3 2s, and a 1. There will still be enough room to fit an ATLS, this process isn't very time-consuming once you know what to do, and it's extremely easy to unload w/ an ATLS. Shopping list is: 6x32 5x16 38x4 25x2 1x1
I originally got the Tac thinking that this ship couldn’t possibly replace my Taurus. I didn’t know how much I would love flying the Max, and now it’s my go to for everything. 😅
I was hoping that because the size of this ship, it would have been more the cargo capacity of a caterpillar (short of, around the 400 SCU, maybe 350) as soppossed to closer to a Connie Taurus, but I do like the ship. THe habitation deck seems to be that of an exploration ships's style, which makes me excited for the Expanse! One of the first ships I see with a fire extiguisher by the kitchen :) But the ship is great, way you load cargo is amazing, and the rooms are one where you may take on a couple of passengers and ahve the crew of 4 "hot bunk" on the other? (I mean, double beds... ) Rent out thee 3 rooms and EVERY one share the one large bed! :)
Some things are just broken atm, the lights in habitations pretty much anywhere can't be turned off, mid engine does not glow headlights use to only have emitters working no actual lamps where the light would come from, now last ptu patch not even the emitters were working and front elevator outside switch could not close the door, could be closed through elevator switch only... but very nice, i like the design maybe few things will be fixed in live now
Try turning on Upscaling to Auto and Quality to "Very High" or "High". Set Graphics to Direct3D 11. Increase Sharpening to Middle or higher. I'm just using a Geforce 3070 but even a 1060 will do it.
right, I mention in the video the TAC has more turrets than the MAX one but maybe I explained it oddly. I'll cover the changes in a future video on the TAC.
@aaronhunyady the Connie is mainly a gunship with Cargo capacity, like the Corsair. The Taurus already is XL. But I guess the next step up is the Galaxy, which, Star Wars look aside, I have the impression CIG really has no idea what to have it being, because of the very inconvenient small modular bay
An adequate small crew ship, clumsy Cargo implementation, no tractor Beam and bloated motel interior, so a Solo nightmare, only buy if you are running a small crew.
@@SpaceDad42 Of course it is atm, but it wont be, its a nightmare of: Elevators/ladders and doors, good luck when engineering/fire management and life support drop......and your components are being targeted. Living in denial, is dying in ignorance?
I agree about space waste when it comes to the crew quarters: CIG could easily have kept the TAC hangar, but I wonder how much use such a small space could gain, as it can barely fit a Fury
I don´t hate the ship, but we already have the freelancer, which is a beautiful ship, and this is just a scale up version. They should actualize the freelancer instead of this.
Certaintly true, freelancer needs some love and honestly could use with a reduction of crew to 2 or 3, opening more room in the back of the ship. With 3 you could pilot, copilot with remote turret and then 3rd can engineer. Open up the crew area a tiny bit, get rid of the awkward middle cargo/ airlock so 66 scu actually fit.

Thanks! Well the Taurus has a tractor beam, so it is quicker for loading cargo. So it has its own benefits.

Nice! Thanks for the info, that's quite a lot of cargo.
So excited for the TAC

Love the new intro!🔥
@aasishwarsaravana5748 thanks!
Great video! ty

I have it and it feels great, it's easy to make money with them if you have an Atlas😅
New sub here, loving your content
Thanks for the sub! Glad you like it!
same here
Doesn’t one of the variants have a dedicated hanger for snub fighters?
Yes, the Starlancer TAC variant has a hangar that can fit snubs.
What is your graphic card and CPU? I have jagged lines I cant get rid of.

You are wrong, the TAC variant actually has turrets at the bottom.

I feel like they need to make a Constellation XL series now.
Don’t give them ideas
wouldn't that be the Galaxy?
Connies will grow to almost this size after the rework, i predict.
@@Sneemaster That's more so the Zeus XL lol

It is solo able just fine.

I'm not a fan of ships😢 with a massive blind spots
not so long range anymore
Sadly, looks like it was changed a bit. I'll check those fuel tank values now.
Starlancer Max-Wasted Space... awful ship layout
I like the design and layout but I can see how others may find it weirdly setup internally.
I agree about space waste when it comes to the crew quarters: CIG could easily have kept the TAC hangar, but I wonder how much use such a small space could gain, as it can barely fit a Fury

Devs said these are built based on the BLD model. The Max and Tac were just -what else can we do with this frame.

Great ship. Bad game
