You're changing the meaning of the sentence, though. "To hear of" is different from "to hear". This would imply that you've heard discussion of the song but not the song itself. There's nothing objectively wrong with ending a sentence in a preposition, especially when its more "natural" inclusion will signify a significant change in meaning.
