It's October 2023, and we have met up with friends Julie and Leon from Blakes 4 on Tour in Devon.

We have actually booked into Ladram Bay Campsite.
Julie and Leon take us to somewhere we've never been before, Budleigh Salterton. What a beautiful place with nature, views and a stunning coastline.
After a disastrous start on the campsite the following day, we head to The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth, home to a couple of hundred donkeys.
We have been living in our Elddis Encore 255 motorhome "Raymond" since April 2021, when we went fulltime with our rescue husky Nanook, AKA Nookie Monster.
Unfortunately Nanook passed away on Thursday 8th June 2023 after a short battle with cancer and we have been heartbroken by his loss, but he will always be a part of this channel.
In March 2023, Helen bought a 1993 Talbot Express Autosleeper Symphony, as she can't drive Raymond due to driving restrictions.
She now travels solo in "The Nook" when Karl travels solo on his Honda Fireblade motorbike.
We have always wanted to show the magic of nature and the beauty of places, regardless of the time of year.
We do show the ups & downs of vanlife too and we also show motorhome related content.

It's a lovely area. The cliffs were so bright cos of the sunrise. I was more annoyed than anything when the door handle broke, but I knew Karl would be back so I wouldn't be there too long.

The reflections were amazing and it was such a nice place. Really don't know why we'd not gone before. We had to use a screwdriver to open the door til Karl could bodge it lol.

Yeah, the sunlight on the cliffs was amazing. Donkeys are great and so funny too. Definitely worth a visit, it's free and dog friendly and they have a big cafe with cake lol.😁🎂
The reflection in the water at the beginning was lovely as was the color in the cliffs. 😊
It was very still and reflective water, it was beautiful. The cliffs were so vibrant in the morning sun.
Wow never seen a hairy donkey before, they are bigger than normal size, very unusual looking. Great video and the drone views were stunning.

Thanks Gilly. It's a stunning coastline. Shame the site was so busy, especially for mid October, but maybe everyone was escaping before the kids broke up from school lol.

Just the best camera work/vlog today (as usual) folks. Was it the light giving those cliffs the colour? Wandering by Choice had a similar problem with their hab door and replaced the unit quite cheaply in the end after a couple of attempts at repairing. (Guess Karl has already sorted it by now).
Thanks very much Andea ☺️ The cliffs are sandstone, but because it was sunrise, it made them glow beautifully. Yes, their door handle broke round about the same time as ours! Karl bodged it so we could use it and a good job too as it took nearly 4 months for the new one to arrive.
Beautiful area and your filming is impeccable , really great shots of the clouds reflecting on the water . Your trip to the area takes me back to me and my late wife spending loads of caravan and Motorhome trips there (thank you for sharing) . Visited the Donkeys many times and my daughter and hubby have adopted one , they camp nearby and visit frequently. Lovely place for Knookie s ashes. Take care Byyyeeee🚐👍

Thank you so much Mike. They leave such a massive hole in your heart. We have Wolfie now and think he's wonderful, but it didn't stop us both crying about Nanook this morning. It's been 10 months already. My son has a Jack Russell called Pixel. He's a little bugger lol. Love him to bits though and Nook was his best friend. He misses Nanook too.

It’s a lovely nature reserve isn’t it next to budleigh 4:24 this is where I filmed that woman almost fall in the water trying to cross from the other side rather than walk up to the bridge. Shame you don’t like the site as it’s really nice we found! Shame about the problems you had. Love the Donkey Sanctury
The site is really nice and the chippy was amazing as they had gluten free and they let us take the dog in there too and sit on the bar type stools. It's as lovely location too as you know, but it was rammed which was crazy for mid October. It's in a brilliant location for exploring though too I think. I'd probably go back if I was going through the area on my own in the camper, as it wasn't expensive for that time of year especially for an electric pitch. I remember the woman lol.

How funny is that, I was looking for places to go for a holiday last night and I was looking at Sidmouth. It looks very beautiful down there.
It's a beautiful area. Ladram Bay is great but dogs are not allowed on the beach there, but the site in itself is dog friendly and has a very nice chippy too. But it's a family place, not really for adults with no kids. Have a look though and see what you think. It's in a really good location for visiting other places.
@mick4862 I've wanted to walk to Sidmouth from Ladram Bay after seeing another channel, Raymond Lee, do it with his, family but we've not done it. Maybe one day in the future. It's definitely somewhere we will return to.
@mick4862 we went mid October so we're surprised to find it so busy, but as you say, it is very ideally placed, especially when there's not really any places to overnight off grid around there. And the site wasn't expensive either being October and before the school half term. Got to have chippy there too as they do gluten free, so I was well chuffed! Don't get to eat chippy often having coeliac disease. It was a well looked after site in a very beautiful area. Karl wouldn't go again but I would in the little campervan. Not been to Bicton Common so will look it up.😊
That is not a place we have been to, our time has been across the estuary. Looks a nice place though
It's a really nice part of Devon. We had never been to Budleigh Salterton but it's really nice with the nature reserve and then the beach, the town and we even went to a cafe serving a fair amount of gluten free produce with seating outside if you have a dog. The Donkey Sanctuary has a massive cafe and is a dog friendly place too, and not far from Dorset.
@@roaminginraymond I have a serious problem with walking past a good cafe... my feet just refuse to cooperate when there's the aroma of freshly brewed coffee in the air!
@VintageRVAdventures ugh. coffee smells gross. But the site of a cake draws me in. And even more so if I spot the words GLUTEN FREE 😂
Love a bit of Salty Buddleia. Last time i was there those rocks were joined to the land! Lovely sunset colours though. Naughty Raymond door though, still, could have been worse!! 😂
It's a really nice place, I really, really liked it there. The campsite was too busy though but the chippy there was nice! That door was a pain and the dead locks were on the cab doors too so I couldn't even get out them lol.
@roaminginraymond When I saw the camp site on the drone shots...🫣. Manic at holiday time. Those donkeys looked so cute too. Dead locks are something I have been looking at too.
@BentleyOnTour they're worth getting. Karl fitted ours of course. Pre TH-cam though, so only photos available.

Thanks Rob. Yep, I always wanted to escape to the country with a couple of acres, have a small campsite with a couple of rescue donkeys. Never turned out that way though.

Hello hello hope your all doing ok I thought I best come and comment as you know I haven't for quite some time but I'm still here and remember I'm always watching and liking the vids just it's been a bad year for us this year so far but things are starting to look up a little plus trying to build our channel in-between lol but I'm loving your vids as you know I always do and wow some beautiful places and even I remember a lot of the place that your revisiting from previous videos and that's impressive I remember them 😂 as got a brain like a civ 😂 but anyway you all take care all the best love from us all ❤
Hello Jamie. Sorry to hear things have been rubbish. I remember, like me, you have family members that are poorly. These things can get you down and I haven't been in a great place emotionally, but I've been feeling better the last few weeks. It's really hard to grow a channel. We don't get any more views than we did two years ago lol. But all we can do is plod on or give up. Hope things are getting better for you and your family.
@@roaminginraymond hello and wow prity much the same as us lol I haven't really been doing much on TH-cam just wasn't in the right mind to watch anything lol but I'm getting there slowly now and yes it's starting to feel like things are getting better very slowly and I hope things are getting better for you to as you been through a bad patch also think we all need a break from all the bad luck lol but hoping things will get better soon as me car should also be fixed end of month and also get the old caravan out and start saving for me van lol fingers crossed for all of us with a better future lol x
Definitely Jamie. The doom and gloom sometimes gets overpowering. But we have to try and stay positive and the sunshine helps. You'll feel better when you all get out in the caravan again.
