I played #SuperPaperMario back when it first came out on the #NintendoWii and having only played through The Thousand-Year Door at that time, I wasn't too surprised to see how different the game was. I was young, so I didn't have many expectations to subvert, but I knew I loved the game. I thought it was charming, with great characters. Replaying it as an adult, I'm able to appreciate it even more, but I now realize just how many things about it DIDN'T stick with me. There were key moments I remembered like the back of my hand, and then there were entire characters and locations that I just didn't remember at all. Still a great game with a solid story, overall.

Super Paper Mario made it clear it isn't afraid to reference people dying. I don't know why they just don't give a hint to what happened to Kammy. Starting with SPM, the series acts like she never existed despite having the secondary villain role in the original Paper Mario.

Okay but, hearing voice acting here was a nostalgia trip... When I played Super Paper Mario some years ago I gave myself the trouble of voice act every line of dialogue I got into, and while I did it poorly, it was super fun lol
I also discovered I can do a decent Luigi voice
Not to mention that Princess Peach even had her Super Mario 64 voice back, which is a nice change of pace for people who don’t like to hear her voice in the early 21st Century by Jen Taylor, Nicole Mills and even Sam Kelly (I’m one of them, but I only find it really annoying when she depends on being rescued instead of helps herself like in the Mario Sports games, Super Princess Peach, Super Mario Adventures and Paper Mario games with Sticker Star being a strong exclusion).

I think he missed a good chunk of sinnable nonsense in the hub worlds (Flipside/Flopside). Maybe he should eventually stop the voices and just speed through the dialogue in favor of dedicating more time to the more petty yet sinworthy stuff. That I'd like.

I hope he'd strike a balance between the two tbh

I played Super Paper Mario and I think it’s underrated. I think more people need to play Super Paper Mario and Super Paper Mario should get more appreciation.
People hated it because it was the first Paper Mario game to go against the classic turn-based RPG format... but ever since Sticker Star more and more people have finally been giving it more credit. Super Paper Mario has one of the best stories in the series imo.
20:16 I actually like to believe that the King Sammer we see in Chapter 6 isn’t actually the real one, since Mimi shapeshifts as him in order to trick us into opening the chest in 6-2 it might make sense that she became King Sammer in order to force the Sammer Guys to fight you, ultimately knowing that it would lead to your destruction
The line that got me to think about it like this is when Mimi says that he’s making “snoring sounds while his world goes bye bye” which would make it appear that he was asleep the whole time, not able to give Mario the Pure Heart due to not knowing that Mario has arrived
Plus, it might be a possibility that King Sammer slept through the opening of the void to the death of his world, considering that it takes a few hours to get to Chapter 6
4:35 I never noticed that but... Dimentio saved Peach?! The manner of teleportation used on Peach is unmistakably Dimentio’s as seen throughout the story. Why? Wouldn’t it be better for his plans if Peach were captured, he planted one of his mind control plants in her skull and then get her out of Castle Bleck? He could have her turn on Mario when he set his plans in motion, just like with Mr. L.
I mean, there'd honestly be no point to it. If Luigi specifically is the ideal host for the Chaos Heart, why would Dimentio care about having another brainwashed minion? Simply teleporting her away would give Dimentio a much better argument for his whole "I've been helping you" spiel as opposed to brainwashing her.
I'm surprised that there wasn't a sin about how terrifying Super Dimensio is. I mean he's literally a giant clown with Luigi's face that's constantly smiling and laughing at you. Pretty creepy. Also surprised you didn't pull a "Suddenly Muffet" when Mimi transformed

I was hoping for this EWW to be as long, if not LONGER, than the original Paper Mario one, but I guess this game just didn't have that many things Charriii decided was worth criticizing to make it even reach the half-hour mark. I don't know if that's the case for sure but I'm still glad that this video exists because I love this game to death and was hoping he would cover it at some point.

i had to double take several times when i saw this. literally the only paper mario game i myself have played and not watched a let's play of. ive beaten this like, 20 times now, maybe even more, i've lost track. im so ready for this
i love how from what i've seen, everyone's reaction to Mimi ranged to shock, fear, confusion, and the like, and the first time I played as a young child i was just kinda like "ok this is happening now" in a nonchalant manner

I normally use Man On the Internet's voices for them, and to be honest Charii's dimentio was VERY Close, mainly when he read the lines at the end i realized he was saying them just as close as M.O.T.I did

When Charri replaced the pixls music with Epic Yarn's victory theme, I was on the edge of crying from 7 years old nostalgia. It was my favorite game and one of my first.

Same! I loved Epic Yarn and I still have it on Wii and yes it should’ve been on the Switch instead. In fact some games like Samus Returns and Warioware Gold didn’t need to be on 3DS when Switch already existed.

I'm still confused as to what went wrong after this game came out. Who thought that Sticker Star was a good idea? Why not make another Super Paper Mario game or one that was like the first two? Why not make two Paper Mario Series, The Mainline ones more like the Originals or this one and a side-series for the experimental stuff?

Actually there’s an easy explanation as to how Peach escaped Bleck’s castle. The box that teleported her out used the same effect as Dimentio’s teleportation box.
And as Dimentio’s goal is to get the heroes to use up the Pure Hearts on Count Bleck, it makes sense why he saved Peach. He needed all the heroes together.
holy crap, there's so many weird romantic/borderline sexual references in this game that completely went over my head when I first played it. kinda shocked this wasn't rated E10+ honestly.

I especially like how when you get a superstar you become a giant 8-bit sprite of mass destruction.

4:30 I think Dimentio secretly teleported Peach to where Mario to help set up the team to speed up on their quest to defeat Count Bleck. Not that I think the characters learn that particular detail if i recall.

Also the whole Mimi Maid section in Merlee's manor (where Charriii asks Tippi if she WANTS to get eaten), am I remembering correctly that she freezes your game if you look in the rooms exactly the ways she tells you and then talk to her each time instead of doing what you're supposed to? I remember her eyes go white and then my game completely freezes up, being able to do nothing except unplug the console.
Edit - Found out why, it was apparently a bug in the European version. Wow, I remember doing that a few times and it haunting me. Feels weird finding out after all this time.

As much as I love the concept of Mr. L, it is rather stupid that everyone couldn't tell that it was just Luigi. I get that it was just to keep the story moving, but if Mario knew that it was Luigi, he would've gone straight to Count Bleck and beat his ass.
