The music of Broken Vow was co-composed by Walter Afanassiev and Lara Fabian, inspired by a classic piece of Rachmaninoff (Piano Concerto N°2 in C Minor). Walter Afanassiev, an american/brazilian from russian descent, is a legendary composer and producer (he composed some of the greatest initial hits of Mariah Carey such as All I Want for Christmas is You and was the producer of the Titanic soundtrack that brought Celine Dion to WW fame). He is also now the producer of Dimash for his US career. When this song was composed, Walter and Lara were engaged, but apparently he cheated and she decided to break up. When she took this decision, that she knew would dramatically change both her personal and professional destiny, she wrote these incredible lyrics. Lara has said this is her preferred english song from all the songs she wrote in this language (there are many, and some are pure jewels). She is not only a world class singer she is alsow humble and stunning beautiful..I am so glad that i'm on this planet the same time as she. Lara hung up on her not believing it was actually Barbra on the other end of the phone. Obviously all worked out as that snippet exists. Vocally both Celine and Lara have beautiful voices, but performance wise, Lara’s resonance, dynamics, phrasing, breath control, etc surpasses Celine. She is unique in that way. She takes you on her emotional journey with her performance…she is the best storyteller. I have seen Streisand and Celine in concert and can honestly say I have been more affected by Lara’s concerts on TH-cam.
