I think plenty of people would chip in, worst case scenario you get a few hundred towards the procedure, best case you get it paid for.
You’re the man Matt! As someone who wears one of the scary dentist white coats, I strongly recommend getting a second opinion before you get all of your teeth out. Or if you’ve got a dental school near you, usually diagnoses are best there… not saying that the implant center was wrong, but knowing what I know about the dental profession and the money to be made, I would want a second opinion if I were in your shoes. I promise it’s worth it for peace of mind if nothing else.
Totally agree. My wife had some serious issues including needed new teeth and the infection. The first doctor had a much higher initial cost and did not adequately address the infection. Second doctor is doing it all with positive results and less money.
Also a dentist, and agree that a second opinion is a great idea. Id look at the xrays for you also

Some people have a way with words and I not have way, but I was thinking it's really great of you to talk openly about health issues, insecurities, things you're afraid of, things you're emabarassed about... getting that stuff out in the open can really help other people dealing with same. You might just really help a bunch of strangers that should really reach out and get help. Good on you, Matt and good luck with 2024. The big thing I've learned about healthcare is finding the best people you can find in that particular field. That said, I think you're going to look back and think, "ZOMG I should have taken care of this YEARS AGO." Your name is Matt.

Considering your situation, I find it amazing at how insightful you are as a taster. I would have thought oral infection would make it very hard to discern technical flavor profiles. Imagine if once you are done with this if your palate will improve.? That would be unbelievable - Move over Fred Minnick!!!

Hi there Matt. Saw your video. I am a dentist and when you’re talking about a big case like that doesn’t hurt to get a second opinion. Sometime treatment plans can be too aggressive. I would get a second opinion from a smaller reputable DDS in your area. My history with these big conglomerates is that they over treat. Mind you I’m saying this without seeing your case films. A positive is having a beard and mustache hides everything, may not even be noticeable. If you get temporary dentures sometimes they are harder to get used to. Good luck with what you choose and your new career path. Love your station

Regarding the puff pastry side of things. I had wondered what happened to your weight loss vids, well, same as with me not posting about my health journey on FB anymore. ....because I fell off the wagon too, big time over the last 5-6months. I undid a significant portion of all the hard work I put into myself over a year or so, and the 1000 miles hiked. Time to put both our collective big boy pants back on. Literally I'm guessing I put back on 40-50lbs of what I lost. Mother FKer!!!!!! So I feel ya on that one. No more dropping the ball, lets both get back at it. We both know what works for us, and what blows us up like balloons.

Thank you for opening up about how you're getting your grill taken care of. The Dentist is never fun & we could all take better care of our barnacles! It's a decent size job you need done but a wise man once told me "if you're gonna eat sh|t, do it one bite" pun not intended.

I understand completely. I had to get a partial for the full front top, 7 teeth, about 3 years ago and i told my wife she will NEVER see me without the partial in lol

Oh man! I have a couple friends that have had the implants done. It's a long difficult process. Both of my friends have had problems with the implants. One friend has had to have his redone a couple times and he got infected and had to have cadaver bone put into his jaw. Follow their directions to the letter, but don't be surprised if there are complications. I wish you luck my friend! Cheers.

Matt- I also had a fear of the dentist that resulted in an infection. After finding an office I trusted and going all in, I can say it’ll be 10000% worth it. We always make it out to be worse than reality. You’re going to feel like a newer and happier person after. Stay the course it’s more than worth it!

Hard be vulnerable - but you are genuine and hard working so it’ll happen man. Try using Smart Goals and a creative and or visual way to save money - off the top of my head poster board and glue on some envelope’s - one for mortgage one for car - one for savings - one for fun - one for teeth. Now be for everyone freaks out I understand no one uses cash anymore, but there are tons of digital equivalents out there that provide the visual representation. Also maybe use fake money for the other bills and real money for the teeth, if using envelope system. Best of luck

I understand your problem I inherited bad teeth and no matter how well I take care of them they just continue to get worse. I have 4 root canals last year alone and will soon be having more. You give us so much in entertainment alone now its time for all of us to help you out!!!!

When I was in 6th grade my best friend shot out one of my top incisors w/ a bb gun. Was able to finally get an implant when I turned 21. Still got the implant 26 years later, what a life changer.

Ooof, you're living my nightmare Matt.
I've got a LOT of fillings and have gotten a number of crowns on my teeth over the past 5 to 7 years.
I was real bad about brushing and flossing my teeth during my younger years, and I've always felt very self conscious about my smile.
Thankfully you've got a MASSIVE community of good natured whiskey folk who will help you through this.
I'm glad you're finally getting everything sorted out, dental health is much more important than many of us realize.

I feel your pain, literally.
I worked for a small business for 15 years, no insurance. I think the rest of the story is self explanatory. I’m still trying to make up for lost time, but it’s an embarrassing struggle. I’m already running through my head the apology I’ll give the hygienist next week when I go in for my next visit. Thank you for speaking out. As a guy nearing 50 with heart issues, it definitely shouldn’t be ignored any longer. Godspeed on your journey Matt.
