Show @Inge_NL some love!
#HermanFinkers #Devrouw #reaction
He used to be very mild and more of a word magician. Than he survived cancer and became more realistic and grown up. Love him.
Oeps! 2. Toch wel leuk... 3. Hard lachen.
Erik Hulzebos also finished second place of the Elfstedentocht in 1997
And a high ranking speedskater.
At 2.28 the subtitles are wrong: he did not say 'pregnancy is the most preventable sexually transmitted disease'. He said 'pregnancy is the most common sexually transmitted disease'.
I saw that but I might like "preventable" better !
He didn’t say disease either… he said “pregnancy is the most common sexually transmitted condition”
@@j.kuipers700yeah, while that is true, the commonly used dutch term for this concept is SOA (sexueel overdraagbare aandoening) and the commonly used english term is STD (sexually transmitted disease)
when translating its better to translate on the base of definition and concept. If youd want a perfectly accurate translation, condition indeed would be the more correct wording. But if you want the translated product to feel lively and genuine, going for the commonly used term is probably the better choice
Also "vastgelopen computers" means frozen computer or crashed computer, but was translated by fixed computer.
I dont know if it was due to translation but highly made a totally different interpretation on that joke. The point was that the stereotype is that men are the ones who are technical, and fix computers, and women are always being blamed for messing up map reading. And he's being all sarcastic about it by suddenly mentioning these things connected to feeling, while thats clearly not the type of feeling meant
True. The mistake is made because the Dutch word for both "to prevent" and "to occur" is "voorkomen", except the pronunciation is different.
Erik Hulzebosch was a long distance skater on natural ice. He was Dutch champion marathon skating on natural ice.
And he sings, well he made a record.
@@erikmulder2574”sings”?? 😅
@@StatelineMusic Dat is Engels voor "Hij zingt."
His accent is so endearing.
Yes he is me there one!
I’ve seen this show. It was titled After The Break.
Finkers has a rare form of leukemia and his prognosis was not encouraging, less than 5 years. However, the treatments seem to be working so after a break in performing that lasted 7 years, he returned to the stage with this bittersweet show. Since then he has made several appearances on tv and made a movie that, in all honesty, was really good.
As an American you cannot appreciate his regional accent which he uses on purpose. You can compare him to Jeff Foxworthy in that respect. It adds an extra dimension to his humor which can be very subtle.
De beste droogkloot ever. I can't even try to translate that.
Well the region he's from is known for that character trait 'dry' & 'dark humor' you could say 'down to earth' or 'overly direct'
Solo shows by comedians, are the hardest to do, you only have the audience as feedback and what might work in the North-West might not work anywhere in the South
Many things are so true and yet so funny. I laughed a lot. 💯👍🏻
Ayo your Dutch pronunciation is amazing
Haha nice, humor from the east (netherlands) onze Herman ❤
erik Hulsebosch is a very famous Skater in Hollaand and bejon
Herman Finkers is from Almelo my hometown.
In The Netherlands you can get divorced, legally, but remain living together in the same house. This is called "divorced from bed and table".
Now i wonder if you saw other dutch "cabaretiers" some are quite shocking, but hilarious.
See last joke as 'He said to his wife 'I can run faster then Alain Bolt She replied 'You meen Usain Bolt' ' No he's to quick. I struggle with Alain, why would she think I can out run Usain'
he is soooooooo good
Erik Hulzebosch was an olympic speed skater.
a LOT of years ago I wen to 1 of his shows which was in the late 1990's, the show was called rustig aan en rap een beetje which roughly translates to "take it slow and easy, but quickly"
He always plays with words, which at times can be really hard to translate in English because litterally translated some things make less sense then in the native Dutch language. He's not trying to be funny but just is, his wife must go crazy.
tbh I like to play with words too or respond in a proper way. If my sister asks, may I have a soda... I say .. Yes.
a few seconds later she has this annoying look on her face but I answered a question. She didn't ask if I wanted to give her a drink. It took her several months to finally know to ask the right questions... I have trained her well :P
Hi, great creation. Herman is my fav artist.
Also fyi, the "mate" at 8:22 should not be interpeted as partner, but more as "buddy".
Translation cock up: Matennaaier is a male term meaning you screwed over your pal. So when he refuses to see his wife as his mate, he refuses to be someone who screws his mate (over).
I’m from Hengeloooooo 😂
To bad you need to speak Dutch to understand he is talking with an accent. This whas actually filmed in my hometown.
Sad detail. Herman has chronic leukemia, but he deals with it in a great way. He even makes jokes about it.
that's the only way to do it , i have the same disease, keep positive and enjoy your live and you can get old with it a positive mindset is very important .
Never ever react imidiatly to what Finkers says. Wait for him to finish, or your clapping for something you don't agree whit.
This should be translated to the Dutch also, that accent omg HELL NO
Herman is briljant. A true language artist. Doordenkertjes=Thinkers. He is a down to earth Twent. We Tukkers are like that. Just say it like it is.
Only English remains a problem...
How about "thought provoking" or "food for thought"?
herman finker is just great i like his humor
Herman is the master of ‘dry humor’. His most famous joke is about how boring his home town Almelo is: “In Almelo, there is always something going on. The light turns red, and the light turns green again” (in Dutch, it rhymes). It is an image the town of Almelo will never get rid of, no matter how much they spend on city marketing. :)
Erik Hulzebos is a (former) pro skater -been to Olympics etc. late 1900's early 2000's (not sure when)
Thanks for explaining!

Compare with US:
He: I am a better baseball player than Mark DiMaggio...
She: You mean Joe DiMaggio!
He: Nah... Joe was much too good.
(She thinks: Never heard about any Mark DiMaggio..., shit..., he's got me again.)

"I can run faster than Eugene Bolt."
"You mean Usain Bolt."
"No, he is much too fast for me....I'm already struggling to keep up with Eugene."
@@RetiredBrass Yep! Much better! Thanks!
No Herman Finkers does not have dark humor (probably he showed his wife the his text first).
We Dutch have many entertainers with dark humor... but Finkers plays with words, and often he himself is the "victem" of his jokes or his brother (that often had a small role in his act).
Yes I like those other people that have really dark humor, ofcourse! But I admire Finkers for his creativity without really offending people.
Stork'n Nöss was an employees society of the Engin Factory 'Stork' in Hengelo. 'Op het rabbat zijn' is like beeing anoyed or upset.
As a Dutch person: You have my thanks!
Herman is a legend over here.
Herman Finkers is great! Some months ago he was at a programme about opera kind of music and afterwords i went with him on a picture. He made even on that programme jokes, even that it was a serious programme haha
you did n ot get that joke. Gerrit is the brother from Eric the man who won the 11 city race on skating
Yeah, I said I didn't get that Joke. Thanks for the explanation!
He did not win by the way. He is famous for ending second
Love his dialect. I live in the east for years already and it took a while before I really could understand it but now that I do, I love the humor. He's from closer near the German border. Also known as a 'Tukker'. From a town called Almeloooo
Yeah and this was in the theatre in Hengeloooo wbere I live 😄
I.c. Erik Hulzebosch...
"Do you know that I am a better basketball player than Blair Jordan?"
"You probably mean AIR Jordan."
"No no, BLAIR Jordan. Air Jordan plays much better."
(Something like that.)
With stork he did not mean the bird but a big factory in Hengelo called stork
Ty sir ,this was very nice .
👍🏻😂
Stork'n nöss is dialect for a Stork's nest. A nest under the tree is beeing Childless and probably never having children.
Eric hulzebos is an ice scater from the Netherlands
As someone who lives in the south of the netherlands I think Herman's accent is... I dont know how to explain, it just makes you say "aww cute". I also know, if he were like a bit younger (40 years or so, hes 69 now) I would have had a huge crush on him. It might seem weird, I dont have a crush on him now but I can feel I would if he were younger. Anyone else know that feeling or am I just weird? I accept being weird, been weird all my life :-P
It's Erik Hulzebosch not Hulzebos.
Did you recognise his Twents accent?
OMG, Herman FInkers! His old work is legendary and extremely quotable!
When he lost his moustache, he got a lot less funny though. (I went to the try-out of his New Year's conference and was very disappointed.)
Still, if you're not familiar with his old work and thus have nothing to compare his later work with, he still is very funny! :-)
Yeahhh alright, this one is great!
