People here in The Ardenne are more relaxed, very friendly and they greet each other when they pass: " Bonjour", they are very nice. when dutch people are here for the holidays they mostly don't even look at you when you pass, but I greet them anyway... 😀

    @sannev8407 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Hi!
    I am from Belgium. Arjen Lubach is a famous Dutch comedizn who is a little bit known here in Belgium but not that much. This is a satire program, about belgium made by someone from The Neherlands. So it's out if context and not completely true. Our politics can work better that's a fact. But I, as a Flemish Belgian, can say most Flemish/Belgian people, and Walloon/Belgian people, don't want independence. Let alone belong to Netherlands. We in the first place feel Belgian. Some people from outside Belgium think those things because of some troubles in the past. And our country could work better politics-wise. But we like our country and more than 80% want more belgium not more flanders. We have more in common than what seperates us and that's what we should focus on.
    Greetings from a Flemish girl who lives in Wallonia.

    • @jfrancobelge
      @jfrancobelge ปีที่แล้ว

      I remember those months without government. An American friend of mine who lives in Belgium, but has also lives in a number of other countries in Europe and Asia, told me then that Belgium is probably the most stable country in the world. How many countries on the planet can be left without a government for over a year, and most people just don't really care and life just goes on, no unrest, no chaos? That was her argument. To be honest, there was still minimal government to take care of everyday government routines; just no new law, no new rules, no new bureaucrats' at the highest level, until a "real" government was in place - which was fine as far as we ordinary people are concerned; who really needs those politicians and their circus after all? And Belgium being a federal state, the regional governments were in place and active.

      Yes, my mother tongue is exactly like that. Spoken in the centre, the pit of the germanic realm, dutch has been composed of many waves of germanic languages interferring with one another… creating some sort of a linguistic storm. Therefore instead of squared grammatical tables, we rather have long lists containing all of the exceptions we need to deal with. Lists that differ regionally. Three grammatical genders in the south, but two genders in the north… makes we need to deal with some grammatical spaghetti right there in the middle. The same is true for the cases, we sometimes must use while sometimes not being even allowed to use them. Dutch has lots of men’s nipples, pointing at grammatically necessary features without a function. A dinosaur grammar that must be adhered to only because dutch wouldn’t be dutch any longer if we would simplify its organic structure. So in the end the best way to speak dutch, is speaking it based on dutch bias. German is hard to learn in the beginning, however dutch becomes harder once you’re ability to speak it grows. I wish all students the best of luck perfectionising all those last tiny bits of our scattered beast of a language… the parts you need to do in order to fool a dutchman in case you would like to try to pretending you’re dutch.😂

    I honestly think that Flanders and Wallonia should not be one country at all. And I don't think that they can solve this by trying to get rid of political differences in all the areas. I think they should just be separated and be it's own thing. If Wallonia really want's to be together with another country than they might need to go together with France since I expect them to be similar in culture due to the same language. Maybe if it becomes a part of France or a special province of France or something like that it might be much better for them. I really hope this country will separate and it would be really exciting to see how those to countries will develop in this. I'm 100% sure that at least Flanders will become a better country after this happens

Door de politiek die niet werkt denken mensen dingen die jij nu zegt. Wallonie is NIET Frankrijk en wij Vlaamse Belgen willen NIET bij Nederland horen. Taal is maar een klein deel van cultuur. Dat is als zeggen dat oostenrijk maar bij duitsland moet horen.
      Het is een illusie die vlaams nationalistische groeperigen de wereld insturen. We zouden zeker niet beter werken apart. Integendeel, we zijn beter af samen. Dat het beter kan, ben ik eens. Maar wel samen.

    • @kiliandjfilms
      @kiliandjfilms ปีที่แล้ว

      While i get why some people in and outside of the country want it to split.
      The problems are that this country is not nearly as easy to cut up, as people think it is.
      Its not as easy as, "well... flanders & wallonia split up along language borders, brussels becomes some sort of EU property, and its done!"
      Its a disaster waiting to happen that will make brexit look like a walk in the park.
      First of al, the Walloons overwhelmingly do not want to split up, there is not a single Wallonian party that would ever sign a bill to split the country, its complete political suicide over there. So it is likely that if we ever split up, it would be because of a 1 sided "illegal" decision by the Flemish government.
      As you can imagine, the EU would not think too highly about this, and it could very well result in Flanders falling out of the EU as a result of the way independence was declared.
      Secondly, Brussels...
      Again these are people that do not want a split, possibly even less so then the wallonians, because they are probably the people in the country that feel the most 'Belgian' of all Belgians, and they know very well that it will put them in a very awkward position.
      Brussels to all of us, is our capital, a place of very high economic importance to both the flemish & walloons, a huge number of us work there, a place of big historic importance, the home to so many important international institutions... Both wallonia & flanders will never risk losing it.
      Wallonia because its one of the few strong economic supporting pillars it has left, because most of Brussels speaks their language, and because of strong cultural ties.
      And likely, most people from Brussels would likely prefer to have it become part of wallonia over flanders.
      Flanders, because, as silly as that may seem to outsiders (and even some insiders) Brussels is to this day considered the capital of Flanders, and a historically dutch speaking flemish city, that was slowly taken away from us by the walloons.
      And despite flanders being an economically strong area, it too leans pretty heavily on Bursselms, as one of its major economic supporting pillars, A LOT of flemish work over there.
      The flanders that gathers enough support to declare independence, will never allow it to be taken away once again.
      The idea that Brussels belongs to Flanders for historical reasons is core to the flemish nationalist movement.
      Most high up politicians in the flemish nationalist movement see "history" and "identity" as the entire thing the movement is based on, these are not the people that will consider Giving Brussels its own state, or away to the walloons as logical, or even reasonable. Their thinking is mostly based on historical idea's, feelings, not logic.
      Thirdly, there is lots of (much smaller) towns and city's along the border that will be major points of dispute as well, as minority's over there might not feel like getting trapped as a minority in a completely seperate country that would not feel very inviting to them, with 2 parties at its helm that hate everything french and non-flemish.
      And as fourth, Making Brussels Eu property is not something that is possible without completly redefining what the EU is.
      The EU does not own... anything, because its not a country, its not supposed to, there is no framework for it to own anything, its a collaboration of existing countries.
      Its all a minefield of things that can very easily cause a political deadlock that will last for years.
      Especially with politicians at the wheel that have proven over and over that they will rather sit on not having a solution at all, and blaming others for it, than compromising and finding a way to make it work for everyone at least a bit. (this is how these 'no federal Belgian government for 540 days' situations happen)
